Property Ratings at ARIUM Lake Johnson
This apartment is great if you like living in the deep dark wilderness. The musty smell, the cave like sunlight, and bug sanctuary really give the apartment its charm! Not to mention you make tons of friends including strange men who look into windows at the wee hours of the morning. I certainly loved every single cabinet door falling off in our kitchen, it really opened up the space. I think the only down side of the apartment was the mountainous speed bumps and pot holes leading up to your oasis.
Apartments are run of the mill. But the management is bottom of the barrel. It'd be easier to fake my own death than to quickly and efficiently sign the roommate release form. Took 2 months thanks to these guys having some sort of "unresolved IT issue" and them taking their sweet time to fix it. Because of that, I lost several, SEVERAL, better apartment opportunities. During that whole debacle, I'd email again and AGAIN and nothing would come of it until 3-4 days later, by which time the apartment I had in mind elsewhere had been sold. Also a bad idea to go to the office, because two people will come in at the same time and tell you different things right in front of you. Only rent here if you want an extremely frustrating experience with your leasing office!
If you never need a work order completed, never have a question regarding your lease, never want your apartment sprayed for bugs, maybe it's not bad, but the moment you need something, management is absent. I have sent in work orders about mold, water damage, wildlife breaking into my outdoor storage, pest control, etc. and most of the time they get closed without being addressed at all, and I'm automatically emailed a survey to rate my lack of experience. If a work order is addressed, it's because I followed it up with a call or email. Even discussing the lease renewal (we're unfortunately not in a position where we can easily leave yet) it was so difficult to get my questions answered, and it seemed like the individual at the desk didn't understand their own lease and what it meant. I also got a terrible rash from the pool the day before it was mysteriously closed due to "vandalism" and they had to "balance the chemicals". I was on antibiotics for 10 days. Location is nice. Walking trail out back, lake is very close by. You're a short drive to campus and right off i40 but it feels secluded. Is it worth dealing with an ineffective, disinterested management? No.
I have been here for 2 months now and I thoroughly enjoy it! The office and maintenance staff are kind, and aim to be efficient! The property itself is an established community, so not Class A luxury, but I am 100% ok with that. It has its quirks as any older property does, but these things were not deal breakers for me (i.e- no overhead lights - ok buy more lamps, kinda thing!) What I think I loved the most is the bedrooms are on opposite ends of the apartment (mom here who sometimes just needs a moment to herself) The management company is still fairly new so I understand there are growing pains, however I personally feel the staff certainly aims to please residents, not just prospects alone. I highly recommend this place. Based on price point and location, you wont find anything better! 40 is directly on the front of the property, and if you come out the backside of the property, Crossroads is quite literally 7 mins away!
I have lived here for 1.5 years now and it's great spot, nice and secluded but just minutes to anywhere you need to be. Like another review said, since changing Management it's been one small inconvenience after another. Which sucks because I really love my apartment. They are a little older but have been mostly updated so it's not really a huge issue. But my biggest problem is the staff, they are not friendly, they don't help you out. I haven't decided if I'll renew but it's definitely in the air because of that. And don't ever expect to get an email back about issues you've had once moved in. They had to do some construction in my unit when they changed Management and the crew that they hired left my place a mess, got paint or something like it all over my floors and other things. I messaged 2 different people, called, and went into the office and I never heard anything back. Also, the crew wasn't accompanied by a member of staff even though they said that the crew would be escorted with a staff member.
DO NOT SIGN LEASE! Mold in our apartment around the showerhead, its pretty obvious there's a leak since it it only around there and the drywall was falling off. We asked them to come fix it in December. They came and replaced the wall and said the mold is from steam and to keep the door open when showering... Obviously the mold returned. I went in on Sunday to place a work order. Waited 48 hours with no response. Called them today and they said there's no work order, you should do it online so there is no human error. They said sometimes the office workers forget to hit send. They also claim free rent credit for every day after 48 hours that there is no response. But they said it doesn't apply to us because there is no work order. This is ridiculous. Do not move here!
I've lived here for two years already and I love the location. The apartments are set into the woods and right across the street from the lake and trails, which is a refreshing break from city life! It's only 15 mins to downtown Raleigh or Cary, which is very convenient. I've never had problems with noise or neighbors, and I've never seen wild parties even on the weekend, which is surprising for a location so close to NC State campus. Lots of families with kids here and older adults. The only thing I hate is that they've just switched to new management as of November 2018, and now the front office and maintenance workers are all new. I haven't had a maintenance issue as of yet, so I can't speak to that, but the front office has left much to be desired. In one month, I've already had to deal with incorrect billing charges, being given incorrect contact information making it a hassle to get in touch with anyone to fix it (on an official printed memo left at all the apartments, no less!), and packages held hostage. You paid extra for overnight shipping and your package got delivered to the office? Sucks to be you! You could go to the office to pick it up and the package could be sitting right in front of you, but they REFUSE to give it to you until the office people send you an official "your package has arrived" email a day or two later. The previous management would send a notification email within 2-4 hours of delivery and you were allowed to pick it up even before getting an email from them, but these new people don't even try to be helpful, they just tell you to leave and come back once you get an email to pick it up, which takes at LEAST until the next day. This is VERY frustrating since you can't even opt out of having your packages delivered to the office if you need something in a hurry. I love where I live, but I do not plan to renew my lease unless management improves by then. There are other locations with a lot less hassle.
I have been living at walnut creek apartments for almost 4years now. The staff in the front office are very helpful and hands on with EVERYTHING! I really enjoy living in a community that not only are the neighbors friendly, the front office staff, but also the maintenance team are friendly! Always with a smile and saying hello. It feels good to know you are safe in your neighborhood and community. And not to mention the rent prices aren't that bad (they always have a special) and the upgrades are gorgeous! I wouldn't want to live any other place.
I've been living at Walnut Creek for about eight months now, and I absolutely love it. My favorite thing is the area; I try to stay active, and there are plenty of trails around here for running, biking, or anything else you want to do outside. They're doing renovations to update a lot of the older apartments, but even the one I live in looks good. I rent a washer and dryer for my apartment (they have a communal laundry room if you don't want to pay extra) and the equipment is top-of-the-line. Everybody in the office is always very friendly and greets me every time I walk in. The only downside is that non-emergency maintenance requests can take a while (sometimes upwards of a week)...emergency requests, however, are handled ASAP. I hope to renew my lease when it expires, this place is great.
Continuesly had problems with things breaking and leaks happening in the two years I stayed. Maintenance would only fix our problems temperarily and I found myself having to call the office and complain every month. Insulation is sad in his apartment, causing all the air from outside to come in the apartment, which made the ac/heat have to run all day in term facing extremely high electric bills every month. The longer we stay here the more they jack up rent. Just too much inconvenience for the high price I paid. I do not recommend Walnut Creek apartments.
I have lived at Walnut Creek apartments for 5 years now. I love it here. The people in the office are so helpful and always have a smiling face. Maintenance is very prompt and responsive. Location is great, right next to I -40, but it isn't loud. Almost secluded within trees so it doesn't feel like you are right next to the interstate. Very close to downtown Raleigh and Cary Crossroads.
The Walnut Creek apartments is a wonderful complex with a convenient location. The prices are fair for the location and quality of the community and the staff are some of the best that ive dealt with. The only reason ive given 3 stars is because of the age of the buildings. The floors creak and there isnt much effeciency when it comes to heating and cooling. overall I enjoy the quality of living I get for the price I pay.
