Property Ratings at Asano North Park
Asano apartments is managed by CAVANAUGH PROPERTIES and owned by Foley Enterprises Inc and to say this has been the most unprofessional and disorganized experience with a building or property management company is an understatement. The front door has been broken on and off since moving in and there was several weeks where we were not receiving mail, cars & bikes stolen out of the garage, when it rains apartments leak, the “amenities” are tiny rooms with 1-2 pieces of equipment. My last month I could not access the garage (spot is an extra $125 a mo) or the building due to broken front door and fob that did not work. They have been trying to “calculate a water bill” for over 20 months and then try to charge you after you move out with no way to verify the metered charges. You will also be charged for normal wear and tear like grout cracking in the kitchen. It’s honestly laughable. It seems great - good location; lower deposit. But you will regret moving in. Look at the newer buildings in the area or renting private. Save yourself the hassle. I sure hope this review saves someone the stress and wasted time trying to communicate with out of touch unprofessional management who take zero accountability and then try to nickle and dime you for their responsibilities/cost of doing business and mistakes. I am a landlord and take it from me. This place is awful.
Apartments are nice and obviously a good location. But it ends there. Everything is cheaply constructed and almost all the residents have had issues that management ignores or is unwilling to address. TONS of security issues and things being stolen. Management makes the residents feel responsible for the poor security and we get penalised for it. Please believe the reviews of the people who live here, and not the one person adjacent to someone who lives here.. who is likely the boyfriend of the owner’s daughter who “manages” the building. Find something with compassionate owners and better construction… and maybe actual amenities for the insane rental rates.
Homeless people gaining entrance into small “secure” garage, cars stolen from garage, no urgency to address overall building access and security issues, and most importantly management does not keep residents apprised of security issues. With all the other rental options in North Park; Do not rent here. Save yourself the stress and personal time you will experience dealing with management who does not hold themselves accountable. Rent privately from a home owner where you will receive timely and professional property management from someone who is invested as an owner. The “amenities” are two rooms with a TV - one room has ONE spin bike, and the other room has a small weight set and railing on the wall. Rent private and pay $20 at chuze a month. Your saved personal time and stress will thank you.
The units are nice, but it’s simply cosmetic, 70% of the residents have had serious issues with their units from gas leaks to flooding and things breaking. The management is beyond rude and they have a novice “running” this so called luxury building. There are zero amenities and parking is $100 extra on top of the exorbitant rental rates. We’ve had numerous security issues including break ins, car theft and vandalism. Skip this building… you’ll regret moving here. It’s not worth the headache.
Apartments look nice but are total lemons. Leaks when it rains, takes running the water for 5 + minutes to get hot water, if the shower is on, the kitchen faucet barely drips water, and the floors are so poorly constructed someone just walking above you vibrates the ceiling. Property Management ignores emails, is condescending, makes residents feel like they are at fault when lack of security results in theft or poor construction results in issues. They install ring cameras that are battery operated and don’t keep the batteries charged, so when there are security issues nothing was caught on camera. On top of all the issues management is raising the rent the first year anywhere from 6 to 9%! These are not luxury apartments when occupied only appear that way. I know most people take these reviews with a grain of salt. In this case, unfortunately nothing is exaggerated. Believe the other reviews of residents who live here, not people who have toured here.
The apartments themselves are beautiful. They are very aesthetically pleasing, and from the tour I had, it looks like there are many floor plan options to choose from. We toured a two bedroom loft, and a one bedroom, and we fell in love with both. The woman who did the tour was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the apartment. My girlfriend ended up moving in, and she’s never had an issue with management or anything like that. We feel very comfortable here, and don’t plan on leaving.
As the other reviewer mentioned, the place was very poorly constructed with things breaking left and right. It is managed poorly. It's also just not safe. Many package thefts and cars were even stolen out of the parking garage. It's not like you are paying low rent either. For how high it is, these things should be non-issues. I, like nearly every other tenant, are moving out. It gets 2 stars instead of one because the apartments themselves are aesthetically quite nice, but don't be drawn in by them. As a side-note I think that 5 star review was left before anyone even moved in so I don't think it is accurate.
The location is excellent, and the units are nice. However, it is impossible to overlook the unbelievably terrible management and the cheap construction of this building. Things are constantly falling apart. Management is rude, unresponsive and doesn’t communicate any serious issues. The building was cheaply constructed and not secure—things are constantly being stolen! Parking is $100 extra per month and can’t actually accommodate the whole building. Every single person in this building wants to move out. There are bare bones “amenities”. The apartments aren’t worth any of the trouble we’ve all had since we moved in. Don’t bother with this place.
