Property Ratings at Asbury Park
They "hid" this review so here it is again without any names if that was the issue. A few reasons to stay away from this property: 1. Rent increased HUNDREDS of dollars per month at renewal! There were NO upgrades or improvements to the apartments or the property. 2. The change in management was the worst move they could have made. Rent went up and the new manager did not care. They had no idea what was going on anytime I've talked to them, they never get back to you, plays dumb when you do follow up and "forgets" what you asked about, sends threats of fines to not break rules instead of building community, lacks communication skills between residents and staff, and had an excuse for everything but never a solution. 3. The lady in the front office will subtly belittle you, roll her eyes, heard her talk down to a female tenant, watched her be very rude to a couple, and is unprofessional on the phone. She's why I stopped going into the office or even calling. 4. The apartments are VERY outdated for the price. It's not real stainless steel appliances but steel colored plastic on top of metal, hardwood floors are laminate, washer/dryer are the cheapest model available, walls are thin - you'll hear every cabinet your neighbors shut and every footstep on your ceiling, the bathtub is PAINTED and will peel/yellow, the shower walls are not waterproof - you will have a lot of mold and soap scum, paint on the doors and walls will rub off with WATER when you clean/dust, fixtures in the bathroom rusted, dishwasher is OLD, stove burners are either very hot or barely work, the fridge is very loud, the microwave is cheap and cooks unevenly - none of these issues justify replacement even though with just a few months of the rent increase would cover it. And only one deadbolt for the door - you can't add another - which is concerning for the next point. 5. The police are always circling the complex - I've seen multiple arrests in the time I've been here. 6. Pool season is whenever they feel like opening and closing the pool. And the pool isn't heated as advertised. 7. The gym is a JOKE. 8. The property is beautiful but they don't take care of it - they only water half of it and let the other half die, such a shame. They had to cut down trees and I watched a lot of plants just die. So if your rent is almost as much as a mortgage or buying a condo with NO improvements or competent staff, what's the point of renting? That's the main reason I left.
