Property Ratings at Ashbrook Apartments
We relocated to Virginia Beach 13 years ago after selling our cooperative residence in New York. As seniors, we wanted the convenience of apartment living rather than again assuming the responsibility of home ownership, close to shopping and public transportation. We also sought a well managed, tenant-friendly and maintained property. After 13 years in our apartment we would (and have) highly recommend Ashbrook Apartments - Virginia Beach. This clean, well maintained relatively small apartment enclave, pet-friendly is a quiet, attractive community where residents are considered their priority.

Thank you for your high recommendation of Ashbrook Apartments and for highlighting the clean environment, pet-friendly policies, and our resident-first approach. We truly appreciate your 13 years with us and look forward to many more.
I have lived here a few months so far the staff is very friendly. Had a repair in ceiling and when maintenance was finished you could not even tell there was a repair done. Quiet neighborhood and happy so far.

Lived here going into my second year and had I not been pregnant and due at the time the lease was up I would have left already. I have black mold on my window from a broken window that they refuse to replace. I had to leave home with my 2 month old baby when I discovered it at 1030 pm one night when it was raining and my ceiling was leaking water. My water is cloudy and Robert in the office pretends he doesn’t remember any of the issues I’ve told him of my apartment. I can’t wait till my lease is up because living here is hazardous.

I have lived here for 3 years and will not be renewing my lease. Things are deteriorating quickly. The apartment complex is not well-maintained and it takes weeks or months for work orders to be completed. Trash and furniture piles up at the dumpster, so much so that sometimes the garbage trucks can't get in. It looks like we live at a dump. Pet waste is a huge problem that is not addressed. I have a hard time finding anywhere to walk my dog. The pet stations often do not have bags or have not been emptied and are overflowing. Communication from the office is severely lacking; they often "do not receive" work orders or emails. Appliances are extremely outdated and inefficient. I can hear everything my upstairs neighbor does-- I can even hear him peeing if we're in the bathroom at the same time. No upkeep has been done to my apartment since I moved in, not even checking smoke detectors or replacing air filters. Utilities are very expensive. The only good thing is the location near town center.
The location is not worth it. The apartment's are small and overpriced. The Gym that they charge you for is essentially a broom closet with a treadmill in it. It takes forever to get something fixed and when they do get around to the repair it's not done properly. My kitchen and dining room was flooded because they failed to hook up the dishwasher correctly. And they make the process of leaving extremely painful. This is the worst property I have ever lived on. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to live. There are plenty of places in the area that are cheaper with more space. I wish I would have listened to the other reviews
I guess it’s not a bad thing but it’s just the one that’s what you wanna
The location of Ashbrook is okay, but the apartments are very old. You can hear everything your neighborhoods are doing, up and downstairs. There were break-ins in the apartments near the entrance and if you live by the restaurants be prepared to hear the workers 24/7. The intersection into the apartments is the worst, especially when the high school is in session. The ladies that worked at the front office were great, but then they kept moving them around so every time you would go to the office you were dealing with someone else and having to re-explain your issue. There is also not a formal way to put in trouble tickets, there was one time when I sent an email and left a phone message and nothing was done until I had time to make it to the office where they said they had no record of my maintenance request.
I moved from New York City to the Virginia beach area in March 2013.And as my move to the Virginia beach area it was very difficult for me to find an apartment that would fix my needs, or should I say get my moneys worth. It took me about a three years later to find the perfect apartment and its not only the apartment that would fix my needs but it is also the staff that's on board the ladies in the rental office are wonderful very professional and the maintenance crew they're very helpful when you are in need for repairs. And the apartment complex is always well maintained, the cleanest is 100%. The apartment is right in the middle of town center which kind of remind me of NYC with all the stores surrounding the town center area. This area is very walkable I would definitely recommend this apartment complex to anyone that is looking for a peaceful and quite environment. Milagro B, Virginia Beach
