North Laurel lies 20 miles southwest of Baltimore and roughly the same distance from Washington, DC. This suburban swath of Laurel offers upscale houses and apartments for rent, all with spacious lots and plenty of breathing room for residents. Well-maintained green spaces and an overall sense of the natural world make North Laurel a sought-after Maryland locale.
You’ll find the majority of the shopping and dining opportunities in neighboring communities, but there are a few local spots to be found along Scaggsville Road. There are plenty of parks along the Patuxent River, but when it comes time to head to the city, the Columbia Pike and Interstate 95 will ferry you anywhere with ease.

Property Ratings at Ashbury Courts Apartments
ABSOLUTE WORSE PLACE TO LIVE. DON’T MOVE HERE! The company was bought out by a new management, they don’t answer the phone, they don’t answer emails, and are hardly ever in office. Some units have roaches and have been abandoned because of such poor management. God forbid you have an emergency fix. My lease finally ended and I moved out! It’s been 4 months and they have yet to give me my deposit! I’ve called, emailed and even tried to communicate in person, still nothing. They stated they sent a check that I NEVER received! I’ve been trying to contact their corporate office, and can’t even reach them! The place is poor managed and a big unnecessary stress. If I could give ZERO stars I would.
Typically, I don’t leave reviews but for this situation it is needed. My husband and I were residents at Ashbury Courts for almost 3 years and never had any issues until the new management took over (Gateshudson). I really don’t know where to begin with the complete shock of how things kept spiraling out of control. All residents received noticed regarding the new management taken over in April 2021. Shortly after, when the new management took over about 30 plus residents had their cars vandalized and obviously, we all were outraged about it. Thinking the new management would care, residents talked to the leasing manager and the district manager about resolution and have onsite security. But the residents were quickly dismissed by both the leasing manager and district manager. The reasons for not hiring onsite security or even some type of reimbursement from the damage that occurred on their property is beyond me. The exact words from the district manager Michael were “Crime happens everywhere, we have no plans on having onsite security” After that ordeal the nonsense just kept continuing here. Gateshudson is really a lazy management who hires lazy employees. The leasing manager is ok, and the leasing agent at the front desk is so lazy and not quite professional to be the first person you see when you come in. Another issue, we have a scanner that we scan to get inside the building, but it came a point where someone broke the magnetic on top of the door that grants entry. So now anyone can open the door and walk right in…talk about safety. One point we told the office and it got fixed but then couple days later it was broken clearly on purpose. GatesHudson clearly only cares about receiving rent from the residents and that’s about it. I have never been so disappointed by a management company until now. I think any resident or future resident should take precaution when it comes to this property. They came in and made changes and clearly have different procedures/policies than our previous management, but no resident received any communication regarding the different changes. I can go on and on about drastically everything changed when the new management took over. IT’S NOT LUXURY EITHER.. only certain floors are “remodeled” and majority of the building is old.
I have a two bedroom two bath apartment and I absolutely love it. My hallway recently got renovated. The only thing I don't like about this place is the way parking is set up. A couple of my guests have been towed along with my wife and I. The towing company they associate with is terrible with customer service and very rude. I love the staff in the building. Besides parking, I highly recommend this place!!!
We have only been at Ashbury Courts of Laurel for a short period of time but our time here has been most gratifying due to the overall knowledge of the front office staff and the quick response of the maintenance staff. The building is quiet and clean and we have a feeling of trust and safety being here. We have seen many improvements on all levels from the hallways to the outside areas. The maintenance staff is quick , knowledgeable and courteous in their response and follow-up. If there were more than five stars to give we would be happy to do so. The staff here seems to never stop trying to improve their level of professionalism.
I have lived here for over three years now, and all I can say is that it is far from luxury. Cleaning does not happen on a regular basis, ballet trash is a joke, and a lot of the residents do not seem to care about trying to keep "home" clean. They are a pet friendly building which seems to mean that stairwells and hallways will have "accidents" on a regular.
The staff here at Ashbury courts are beyond amazing and very professional , I absolutely adore them. The building is always maintained and exceptionally clean. Wonderful amenities and a very secure building which puts me at ease as a parent to two wonderful children. It is even relatively close to a brand new shopping area which is also a plus!
