Mebane sits along Interstate 40 nearly equidistant between Greensboro and Durham. This charming town blends small-town charm with a surprising amount of urban convenience, especially in its well-maintained downtown center. Apartment communities and single-family rentals both new and old provide plenty of variety for renters in Mebane. Downtown, you’ll find murals commemorating the city’s history and the Mebane Train Display celebrating the city’s once flourishing railroad-driven industry. Just off East Center Street lies a number of incredible locally owned restaurants, including the Mebane Downtown Table, an upscale American restaurant. There are pocket parks and small lakes scattered around Mebane, bringing some big-city character to this rural community.

Property Ratings at Ashbury Square Apartments
The grounds are nicely kept and the staff in the front office are nice. There is plenty of walking areas in the neighborhood and most of the people are exceptionally nice. My only complaint (which was enough for me not to renew my lease) were my upstairs neighbors who were constantly banging on the floor and stomping, daily, throughout their apartment. I contacted the front desk and nothing came about it. Their incessant stomping and banging has disrupted my sleep on many nights and, when I bought it to the attention of the leasing office, nothing was done. I have been a good resident, always paid my rent on time (early in some cases), and tried to be respectful of my neighbors and the neighborhood. However, the unwillingness of the leasing office to address the violation of the lease with my upstairs neighborhood is unfair and not worth the money you would spend to live here.
Property Manager at Ashbury Square Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for your kind words about our grounds and staff, and for being such a great resident. We sincerely apologize for the frustration you experienced with the noise from your upstairs neighbors. We understand how disruptive that can be, especially when it affects your sleep and comfort. It's disappointing to hear that our efforts to address the situation fell short, and we truly regret that it impacted your decision not to renew your lease. We are always striving to improve our communication and conflict resolution processes, and your feedback is essential in helping us identify areas where we can do better. We would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and explore ways we could have better addressed the issue. Please feel free to reach out to us at [contact info] if you're open to sharing more. Thank you again for your feedback and for being a part of our community. We wish you the best in your future home. Your team at Ashbury Square Jennifer Glenn, Apartment Dynamics
The Management team and the Maintenance team are excellent. Everyone is so nice and courteous. I have lived at Ashbury for several years and have always felt safe. Ashbury provides a beautiful green space and places to sit and enjoy the sun.
This is a great complex nice and quite. The property is well maintained, just hate to see Brian leave as he kept the property looking immaculate. Angela is the assistant manager and is awesome, always follows thru with any issues that may arise. Keep up the good work, we love you Angela and thank you for all you do.

Kat, we appreciate your 5-star compliment more than we can say! It is wonderful to hear that Angela and Brian have served you well. I think you will find Jermaine is a great addition to the community and will work just as hard to keep the community clean and in great shape! I will pass your kind word to Angela! We hope you continue to call Ashbury Square home for years to come. Tracy Wesley, Property Coordinator 336.884.8853
I have lived here for almost 9yrs. I used to Love it. Over the last 8 months, I have grown to Hate it. That is due to the noise. My upstairs neighbor’s daughter who is about 11yrs old constantly runs, stomps and jumps in the bedroom over my head. To the point where I have to wear headphones until she goes to sleep. There are times when she wakes up around 12-1am running back and forth and stomping. For some reason the mom sleeps through this. The people on the backside of me will start blasting their booming bass filled home theater system at 650am and will often continue until all hours of the night. (It’s blasting right now). Some of the tenants here now are very inconsiderate and not as friendly as the ones that were here when I first moved in. Other than that, it’s a nice apartment. Grounds and buildings are well kept. Maintenance usually comes very quickly when you put in a work order. I’ve never had any problems with the office staff. I will be leaving when my lease is up. Only because of the noise. I should not have to sit in my apartment with headphones on to drown the noise of others. If it were not for that, I would continue to stay here.
I moved to Ashbury Square in August 2009. I have enjoyed living here. The staff is wonderful and professional. This is a great place to live.
Important to know, this complex allows aggressive breeds. A pit bull got off its leash and charged my yorkie, picked her up just in time. Thank goodness it wasn’t my toddler! They post that they do not allow aggressive breeds, but will list your aggressive breed as a “mixed breed”. Great if you have an aggressive breed and are looking for a place. They’ll look the other way! Not so great if you were looking for a safe place to play with your children. We were also only told about the $300 pet fee after we signed our lease. Office is not currently under good management.
Property Manager at Ashbury Square Apartments, Responded To This Review
Ashbury Square does prohibit certain dog breeds; however, the dog referenced in your review does not fall under any of those breeds that are prohibited at Ashbury Square. It was unfortunate that the dog referenced in your review did manage to get off its leash; however, we have spoken to the dog’s owner and reminded them of the importance of controlling their pet and that any future incidents such as the one that occurred recently will result in serious consequences. This was also reiterated in a written letter that was delivered to the dog owner’s residence. We respectfully disagree with the assertion that the non-refundable pet registration fee was not mentioned prior to the lease signing. This information is included on our general info sheet as well as on apartments.com. The staff at Ashbury Square also always makes every effort possible to inform prospects of the pet policy prior to signing a lease.
I have lived at Ashbury Square apartments for two years. The landscaping and common areas are well maintained. It is a safe and comfortable complex. I have always had prompt and courteous responses from the apartment office staff and maintenance workers for maintenance requests. My only complaint to date is that leases longer than 15 months with a reduced monthly rent are not offered. If you are looking for a nice apartment to rent in Mebane, do seriously consider Ashbury Square in your search. I am giving it four stars instead of five because it is my first apartment experience and leases longer than 15 months with a lower monthly rent aren't offered to established residents.
The managers are horrible horrible people. They lie and find ways to get money from you. I mean excuse me but when you rent from somewhere the company is responsible for taking care of things if something happens, not in this case, they expect you to pay there outrageous prices plus anything that happens one time our blind broke when we wanted to raise the window, we called to let them know its was 17$ per blind out of our pocket. The lady in the front office is so rude, my husband and i have never done anything or complained to be treated the way we were living here! Our whole closet collapsed the shevles and sheet rock went all over our personal belongings and we was told it was not important enough to report on a weekend when they are enjoying there "day off"! How rude?? I wouldn't recommend this place to even a homeless person!

Thanks for posting a review for Ashbury Square Apartments. We are sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience. We strive to make customer service number one at Ashbury and we are always glad to speak with any resident that has any issues or concerns so we can get them resolved. Maintenance requests are to be submitted to the office and requests submitted on the weekends will be addressed on the following Monday unless it is an emergency. Emergencies consists of having no heat, no a/c, no hot water, water intrusion, refrigerator not working, fire/smoke damage, damage to the property, smoke detector going off, toilet not working (1bath), no power, garage door not opening, broken windows/doors, lockouts after office hours. I do apologize for any inconvenience; however, we did resolve this issue the following week. Again, we are always glad to help residents on any concerns they may have. Thank you again for taking the time to write a review about Ashbury Square.
This apartment complex is not only beautiful, but also very affordable. I live in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathrooms 1,093 sq ft apartment. It has very high ceilings and walk in closets galore, not to mention the patio is a pretty good size for an apartment and it has a storage area out there as well. The apartments from the outside look new and the courtyard and the surrounding land is beautiful. Its quiet here, I never have to put up with loud neighbors and we have access to a gym, pool, and grilling area. There is a playground in the courtyard for kids and it is pet friendly too. There is also a pretty neighborhood nearby that I like to walk around in. Its minutes away from downtown too. The leasing office empolyees are a delight and if we ever need anything fixed, putting in a work order gets maintence to come to us the same day or next day. I love living here, its worth it.
Ashbury Square is located in Mebane, NC. Mebane is one of the fastest growing and safest communities in NC. It's proximity to the Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh area to the east and the Greensboro, High Point, Winston Salem area to the west make it a prime location for those looking for a small town location close to larger metropolitan NC cities. Ashbury Square is a part of a larger connected community in which someone could progress through all stages of life. It is located on a campus which houses single family apartments, single family homes, and a senior living retirement community. You can literally start your career in one of the local cities living in the apartments, as you accumulate wealth purchase a house in Ashbury Green to raise a family, and then retire to Ashbury Crossing. The community offers a shared pool between the Square and Green residents, a fitness center that has all of the cardio and light weight equipment you would expect as well as a small yoga room, laundry facility, and a trash and recyclable facility. From my experience you won't find a comparable apartment in the major cities for the same price. For the same square footage you will get at Ashbury you would pay at least $100 more per month within major city limits. All of ceilings are 9ft ceilings which helps add to the size of the apartments. With regards to the apartments themselves my only critique is that the appliances are basic. There is nothing high end to the apartments themselves as far as appliances or accents are concerned but it's mostly a non-issue when you take into account the size of the apartment. With regards to management, so far it has been a mixed reaction. Everyone so far has been accessible but the responses aren't always what you would expect. When you move in they give you a manual for the apartments that says what they do and do not do yet they do not always adhere to what the manual says. This can lead to some aggravating instances with management. This is not to say management is bad as they have all been nice and cordial but they don't seem to know what their own stated rules are all the time. The other tenants and community residents have been great. Most people keep to themselves and are courteous of others (for the most part). I have found a great bike loop through Ashbury Green and into Mebane back roads. I give Ashbury Square a four star rating due to its proximity to major Piedmont cities, the price for size, and the local community.
My boyfriend and I absolutely love living at Ashbury Square Apartments. The staff is very friendly and the apartments are awesome. We live in a 2bd/2bth apartment and it's very spacious and has a large balcony with plenty of room for my garden. If you ever have an issue the maintenance staff is fast, friendly and effective.
The community is EXTREMELY quiet, but don't let it fool you. I chose to finally write this because it is 2:05 am on a Sunday and I'm still awake (I must mention I am a VERY heavy sleeper) listening to my upstairs neighbor walk back and forth over and over again, which sounds like a rhino. I can even tell you they just used the BATHROOM! Also, my next door neighbor is drying clothes and messing in the kitchen. I can tell you every time they exit/enter their apartment and go up/down the stairs. On the up side, I can't hear anyone talk...yet.
This is a clean, well kept apartment complex with one huge problem- the onsite manager!!! She is not nice and extremely rude plus they are not honest with their lease.
