Property Ratings at Ashton Square Apartments
Complex has a serious rat problem near the dumpsters and has poor maintenance on property and grounds.
I've lived in this community for several years. It changed ownership many times. This owner has been trying to do updates on the exterior of the buildings buildings and apartments newly rented but they have neglected security issues. I would not recommend someone with children for this apartment complex. Most of the buildings have broken front doo and back doors so anyone can walk in the building. Unfortunately a lot of the lights through the community are either broken out or just not working. It's become common to hear people arguing, gun shots in the parking lot and speeding cars. It's unfortunate the apartments are really quite nice for the price but it's not safe anymore there's no accountability
Lived there for a year, not worth the money. Carpets need to be replaced, bugs and roaches, by the last month there we had constant construction happening. With little or no warning when they would come back to finish the job. Not to mention the pool was a open storage for washing machines. Never got our deposit back. After calling several times.
Yes no oven for two+years is true on top of that monthly water draining into my bedroom carpet, a monthly ignored request for pest control. My kitchen cabinets feel of the wall the months ago broke most of my dishes still no cabinets, an outlet in my bathroom didn't work from what I found out was previous flood damage and refusal to fix it. Flooding from an improperly sealed window in the living room shorted out my entire entertainment system when the person upstairs washed his dogs waste off his balcony with a hose. Vehicle got vandalized. If you find this management company or this owner just don't rent from them
Been renting from ashton square for a little over 6 months and any issues I have Jia goes above and beyond to make sure we are satisfied. Best apartment complex I have been in by far
My days begin by killing on average four cockroaches. My nights end sometimes with me seeing a roach in my bed (under my pillow). Ive tried to combat this by moving my bed from the wall but to no avail. Also, Ive picked up a bad habit of leaving my lights on all night ...in attempt to deter the roaches from coming out. If youre a normal person who doesnt like to waste electricity and turns your lights off at night, be prepared to see 10-20 roaches scurrying in every direction whenever you use the bathroom at night. In short, if you value a roachless existence, stay far away from Ashton Square Apt.
Don’t let these other reviews confuse you. I’ve been living here since 2015 and it’s been a struggle. In the beginning things were rocky. The first experience I had walking into my apartment was the door nob fell off, the cabinets and the walls were shabby and closet doors were all broken. The maintenance crew takes forever to fix anything and the Antonio and rest of the staff do not care about the tenants. They don’t even try to communicate with you about any worries or maintenance requests you’ve put in. Our ac broke during the summer of 2015 and let’s just cut a long story short and say it was never fixed and didn’t even let us know that we could get a portable ac unit until living for a month and some change with no ac. They gave us no credit on our rent for the mistakes and did nothing to try to make it right. I could go on but I’m just going to say DONT.MOVE.HERE!
This property is horrific. Each and every apartment in this community needs to be fixed, it takes too long for anything to get fixed, and back orders can take as long as your lease. You have to feel sorry for staff when they mention the sorries of new people, people getting fired and backed up work orders. You pay the city for Gas, and the property for Gas. I think it's a brilliant idea. Nearby public school is disgusting, children are a hot mess in this complex, and can't nobody park/drive here. If you have a nice car, I feel sorry for you, because it's going to get marked. If you can afford to shed out a couple of hundred dollars more, please live elsewhere. I promise you it'll be worth it. Know your rights, and stay in touch with the company at all times to make sure you are heard. Dial 311 if needed.
Office staff and maintainence have been dragging their feet on every "urgent" repair to the apartment. Ever single time a review is left, my fiancée and I are contacted by the office manager who tells us that they will come out within days. We have had loose and shorted out receptacles for WEEKS. I do not advise any potential renters to look at these apartments.
The apartments do not look like the model. Your request to have things fixed will be ignored. You will have an additional gas bill-one from the city and one from Ashton Square. They will charge you more for gas and water than the city does. The water bill is outrageous, The parking lot is always filthy, and they have limited dumpsters. The trash overflows from the dumpsters and you will be embarrassed to bring someone to your apartment. Roaches are a problem no matter how many times you spray yourself, They may come out on Fridays to exterminate and maybe not. Your water and gas bill are considered part of your rent and they add that to your rent . They do not bill your utilities monthly, but every three months and your billing is never accurate. If you can find somewhere else to live, please do so. I would not reccomend this complex.
Since I have been living here since 2013 I haven't had any complaints or concerns ...the leasing office staff have been helpful every step of the way whenever I need something done it's done as soon as possible. I would recommend this apartment to anyone the space is amazing I never had any problems when it came to pest control or anything . This is definitely a place I call home .I am not from here , my first stop in Richmond was this apartment complex and I have been here every since then . From day one I was greeted with open arms the first person I encountered was property manager Marnie and she was amazing and still is till this day .
The manager attitude sucks. They have no idea what goes on in these apartments and when you call them out the get nasty and threaten to terminate your lease. The manager I mean the head manager say what ever to you on the phone then when you go up to office she have corporate office on the phone trying to make herself looks innocent. Its no need to even call the property manager office because he which and the apartment manager have the same name and he dont return calls either, the receptionist on transfer calls she dont tkae messages. These people are really only taking people money. Take my advice and DO NOT MOVE HERE if you think these bad reviews are a joke ride by and stop and talk to residents.
DO NOT..... I MEAN DO NOT MOVE HERE.... the management communication with the tenants sucks they barley answer. It took over to months to get our Ac fixed so not only are we paying people to stay with them we also still have to pay rent for a place we dont stay..... loved it when we first moved here 5 years ago its been going downhill now i see whu everybody is moving out.
I'm writing this review about my apartment is the greatest place to could ever be and the amenities are awesome the area is quiet the maitenence on the exterior of the apartment are wonderful , the leasing office administrator are kind they are very hand in hand with their tenants and this is all for great pricing our area is very clean our maintenance response time is less than 24hours if that . Another reason why I am very pleased to be here , this is a very dog friendly complex. They make it convenient for you have dogs lots of dog areas so even if you live here and you dont have a dog , it will never get in your way, because the area is so clean. The parking is great and plenty of space . We are just 10 minutes from all the city shops and dining and my favorite WALMART !!!!!!. And wE live near a wonderful school district . Overall I would get my complex 10 stars but I only have 5 for now .
Maintenance takes too long to make repairs, if you have problems the leasing staff is not helpful. Only good thing is the pool.
Reasonable rent; Large rooms & closets; Huge balcony; Dishwasher & garbage disposal; Washer & Dryer; Large windows, blinds for privacy; Ample parking; Close to great restaurants, shopping, schools, public library, parks, & the James River; Public transportation; Office staff & maintenance team are great.
