Macomb is the proud home of Western Illinois University and a tight-knit community. Macomb began as a small railroad town in the early 19th century, and maintains an aura of old-world charm to this day. The historic downtown square is brimming with eclectic shops and eateries while Western Illinois University routinely hosts art gallery exhibitions and speaker series.
Macomb’s small-town feel is further accentuated by its strong sense of community. A wide variety of events brings the community together in Macomb, including game nights, movies in the park, parades, and festivals. Opportunities for outdoor recreation abound at Macomb’s local parks as well as nearby Argyle Lake State Park. Des Moines, Saint Louis, Milwaukee, and Chicago are all within a four-hour drive from Macomb, should you miss the bustle of city life.

Property Ratings at Aspen Court
When stuff needs replacing or repairs it takes forever to get them to come fix the issue. Never can get ahold of anyone when you need them at the front office they never snowplow if they do it’s one pass behind all the parked cars they hardly mow or work on the landscaping. When you go to check out they will rip you off and charge you for the simplest things that aren’t clean. Total joke would not recommend living here. The mailboxes leak water like crazy so your mail gets wet all the time. Don’t move IN!!!
Management will not answer phone calls or will provide no information when dealing with apartment billing issues. If they answer an email they answer once then stop replying. Unable to get the deposit back even when the apartment was left in good condition. Apartments are decent, but management made the place hard to live in or enjoy.
My wife and I headed to our sons apartment near the end of his lease. We scrubbed the apartment from top to bottom over 10 hours. I just received my deposit back and it was only 1/3 of the deposit amount as they claimed everything in the apartment was dirty. I couldn't even argue with them because my son went through the walk through and signed off on whatever paper work they put in front of him. They took advantage of a naive college kid. My advice is don't lease here first, but if you feel that this is the best option for you make sure you go with your student or child and read the walk through paperwork thoroughly. Also, take pictures of anything you clean and/or fix. I should have listened to the reviews I read prior to letting my son live here. Also, I would bet the good reviews are the people that haven't moved out yet.
We had originally signed a lease with 4 people then had one person drop. Right before we moved in we were told that we would still be paying for a 4 person bed room even though we were just 3 people, and even after they had lowered the rent for everyone else who signed just a few weeks after us. Besides this we still payed the 4 person rent. Management has always been extremely rude and sassy towards my roommates and I. When ever we would ask how much we owed we would get ridiculous random numbers that were not correct. The rudest of them all is the older woman in the office. Besides this there were also ants in my roommates bathroom and Lady bugs in the kitchen . If you don’t like a lot of noise this is not the place for you as the walls are very thin and you can hear EVERYTHING. If you don’t mind it and want to be where the action is than this might be a good fit. Definitely not for family’s on the Jackson st location .
I live in a single now at Aspen and it is the nicest of all my friends in town. About a 15 minute walk to campus or just catch a bus anytime. Close to grocery store, Casey's, restaurant etc. Well maintained place, best looking in Macomb. If I ever come back to Macomb after graduation I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Best place in town hands down.
I have lived at Aspen for two years and have really enjoyed my time. For the same price as other places in town, Aspen is much higher end compared to others. They have a nice pool and tanning bed that is free to residents. You can have pets at one of their location but not the one I currently live at. There is a bus stop that takes you right to campus, shopping, ect. right on sight. Never had any issues with maintenance/ employes. I would definitely recommend living here, it is the favorite among students!
Aspen Court Apartments the perfect option for college students! The staff at Aspen are wonderful so helpful and are always willing to help. Their apartments are very nice and clean, at a very reasonable price! Not to mention, they are the safest most secure apartments around. I have absolutely loved living at Aspen!
Communication not honest here when visited and discussed process. We were told that they would repaint apartment regardless and that typical nail holes and wear and tear were normal. Of our $900 deposit we were charged $957 all of which stemmed from misc $10 per charge fees. The charges are borderline criminal. As the tenants mother, who moved him out myself, and cleaned the apartment so I know exactly how it was - you could have eaten off the bathroom floor. Ex- $10 fee for removing 3 thumbtacks in wall, $40 to paint 6 nail holes (they were painting entire apartment for new tenants regardless), $10 air vent dirty on inside, $10 to replace light bulbs burnt out, $10 to paint two blue spots on wall. In addition, we called due to a leak in the toilet, to which took weeks to get them out to fix, thus causing us to receive a $177 water bill to which they declined any responsibility in. These are small examples of a laundry list of manipulated and exaggerated charges. If you plan to live here, at least prepare that your deposit is their fee.
Very nice and polite staff. When maintenance is needed (which is rare) we have someone here within 24h. Amenities are a plus, and parking has been good so far. No security issues so far. Highly recommended to any student.
This apartment complex has excellent service and someone is always willing to help if I have any questions. I was hesitant in searching out apartments because I have not lived in one before, but making the switch from dorm room life to this apartment has been easy. The rent is affordable, even on a college campus, and I enjoy the settings and commodities.
