Located about 27 miles northwest of Detroit, Pontiac is an up-and-coming city brimming with historic charm and a strong sense of community spirit. Named after a chief of the Ottawa tribe, Pontiac was once a center for automobile manufacturing. In fact, Pontiac built an array of cars, trucks, and the renowned bus Civil Rights activist Rosa Parks famously made history on.
After being hit hard by the Great Recession, Pontiac is on the rise. Numerous restaurants, companies, and amenities are setting up shop in Pontiac, including the M1 Concourse—an 87-acre playground for auto enthusiasts. Historic Downtown Pontiac has been revitalized, offering a slew of cafes, shops, and entertainment options for the community, like the historic Flagstar Strand Theatre for the Performing Arts and the Crofoot performance venue.
A bevy of scenic parks provide plenty of space for outdoor recreation in Pontiac, such as Murphy Park, Galloway Lake Park, and Hawthorne Park.

Property Ratings at Auburn Heights Apartments
DO NOT LIVE HERE. This is the worst place I've ever lived and the worst management I've ever dealt with. I moved out in March and they are still claiming I owe them money from having to replace a carpet that apparently "was overwhelming of cat urine" even though I am literally ALLERGIC to cats and have never owned one in my life. They tried double charging me for a cleaning fee that I had already paid when I moved in and tried to say they never did even though I have the check receipt I wrote them. They overcharged me on my last month of rent and I never got that money back. Their lawn people tore up my patio lights that were like $40 that I got nothing for. Their carpet people left a rusty tack on the lawn that went straight through my toe and I had to get a tetanus shot for. Their maintenance people took 1.5 years to figure out why my laundry room wouldn't stop leaking and when they finally did, it took like them month to fix and left my front door wide open for god knows how long while I was in the bedroom with my dog, which is such a safety hazard. All the manager had to say to all of this was “mistakes happen”. do NOT give these people your money.
We have lived at Auburn Heights for 2 years and will be doing an on-site move to a newer unit this summer. Constant updates, helpful and kind staff, maintenance crew is AMAZING. I love having a gate for safety and ample parking. Couldn’t ask for anything better. They love our kitties too!
I toured a 1 bdrm. The leasing agent was experienced with the property and knew their stuff, but their delivery was warp speed and it was a relentless regurgitation of info. It was clear they wanted in and out. The unit toured was a model; it was a little expensive when considering the tiny square footage, layout, amenities, and location.

I have been a resident at Auburn Heights Apartments for 12 years. The management and staff currently are some of the most professional people I have dealt with at any rental complex .The assistant manager is not only a professional at her craft. But also a great people person . The maintenance staff is the best.

Very nice of you to say such wonderful thing about Auburn Heights! I agree, Yvette and the maintenance staff does a great job! Thank You! Patrick
I moved here in 2016 during a rough time. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. They’re one of the few complexes that I know of who will paint your apartment for you free. They provided upgraded cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom with new carpet. I love the brushed nickel detail on my kitchen and bathroom fixtures and the ceiling fan over the dining area. I also have a gas stove, most apartments give you electric and there’s a laundry room with full size side-by-side washer/dryer. I love having private entry to my place and they’re super nice about receiving packages for you when you aren’t home. The staff host community building events like holiday gatherings, and they provide free flowers to residents to decorate their balconies. They decorate the grounds, are timely with maintenance and they’ve upgraded the pool and leasing office since I’ve been here. I love it here.

I have lived in a one bedroom apartment at this complex for close to a year. I had searched for over a year to find a place that would be suitable and nice. Once I toured with Yvette, I knew I for sure wanted to live here. I have had nothing but good experiences from the office staff to any maintenance that needs to be done. This place has all the amenities!

That is very high praise from someone who has lived here for 20 years! May the next 20 be even better! Thank You Patrick
The number one thing I appreciated while living at Auburn Heights was the staff! Comparing from apartment hunting and from my previous and current housing, the staff were, by far, the friendliest and most helpful people I have ever encountered. During my time there, it was very peaceful and I always felt a presence of safety. Maintenance always kept up with any concerns in a timely manner and were good with upkeep and upgrading the apartments. They would also have little events available for the residents, like giving away flowers to spruce up one's space. The only downfall I could possibly think of dealt with neighbors, whom once in a while, would make too much noise or make a mess in the yard, but sometimes you can't do anything about it. Best place I have stayed it since being in the area for the past four years!

Very nice of you to take the time to give us such a wonderful review. We are very pleased that you are enjoying living at Auburn Heights. Thank You Patrick
They say you get what you pay for and in this case it's true. If you're looking for constant community upgrades then this is the place to be. However, make sure that's not all you want. Once you move in, you're pretty much stuck with you're model unless you're up to the expense of moving into another apartment with the possibility of a rent increase. No utilities included and the rent goes up constantly HUGE increases!! I'm afraid to watch them upgrade the community with any new changes or even cut the grass again thinking the rent will increase. Other than this the staff is great, friendly, professional and the community is safe and beautiful. Somethings are just out of their control ex rental rates blame corporate. I'd give it 5 stars for living on broadway at these Hollywood prices..

Thank you for the kind words, we have been doing a lot of improvements to our community over the years. We are happy that you enjoy Auburn Heights and the things we have here to offer.
I have lived at Auburn Heights for over 4 years now, I have seen a huge improvement over that time. When I moved here I thought it would be for just one year, but now I am going on 5 and have done an onsite move to a upgraded apartment and no additional rent. I was able to choose my own paint colors and get all of the upgraded features includes ceiling fan, microwave, new counter with backsplash which I just love! The team here is great, maintenance staff is the best. The property is always well kept and snow taken care of very quickly. Since I have been here I have seen many improvements including adding a fitness center, a new pool, outside lighting, new windows and video cameras. I feel very safe here, the property is fully fenced with a gate that closes each night, it is a peaceful community, with lots of nice people. One down fall is people not picking up after there dog, even though there are plenty of dog stations throughout the property.

That is very nice of you to say, thank you for the kind words. We are very happy that you enjoy living here at Auburn Heights!
My time at Auburn heights (Jun 2015 - June 2016) was quiet and uneventful. The staff were very respectful and understanding, as well as immediately available during business hours. I had no issues with noise, or anything else. The bills for utilities ran a little on the high side, so I would be careful of sealing. Otherwise everything worked and everything was clean. Also, emergency maintenance is responsive, even in the middle of the night. It may take an hour or two at that time though. If it was anywhere near where I work, I would definitely look into this place again.

Thank you for the nice words, we are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us!
I have enjoyed living here, so far. They have done upgrades to the apartments that have really made them a wonderful place. Of course, they are older units, so we have had to request maintenance a few times. They do respond, however, it does take some time. Everyone is pretty friendly, no one really bothers anyone. Also, they paint a certain number of walls before you move in...giving it more of a home like feel. There are community contests and a rewards systems set up. You gain points for participating in contests, paying rent early, assisting with becoming an ambassador of sorts, etc... Lastly, the front office is top notch. Very friendly and eager to help! My issues are that these units are not non-smoking. I had quit smoking for quite some time, and I could smell somone smoking inside our building through the vents, as the smell was quite strong. So, now I am back to smoking, as the temptation became too hard to resist when that's all I could smell day and night. The occupants don't clean up after their dogs, so we find messes in the grass often...as well as glass and at one time scissors. When I have called for maintenance, they ask permission for someone to enter the unit during the phone call, but you never know when they'll come. When they do come, they never leave notice that they were there. I find it a bit uncomfortable to have someone in my home without knowing when they were there. Lastly, someone in my unit smokes marijuana quite often and it reeks. This is a great place, really, but just like any other apartment there are drawbacks.
This is the best apartment in Pontiac! It is a full gated community with gates that close after 8pm and open at 8am. Only a code or key card will open it. The new management and maintenance is amazing! They actually care about their residents and do everything they can to help. That's very rare! Theyhave completely replaced our fridge because it broke. We just got new windows and new patio deck. The only bugs we've ever had in 2 years are the normal small spiders and fruit flies but that is even rare. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We are in a 2ND floor apartment. The community is quiet and respectful. The fitness center equipment is brand new as well. They replaced the pool deck last year. You don't want to live anywhere but here! I couldn't be happier with my home!
