South Austin is bordered by a number of highways and Interstates, including I-35, US-290, and TX-1. Property Ratings at Austin City Lights
I used to live across the street from this complex years ago and always loved how it looked and wondered how the interior looked. As I found myself moving back to Austin again I immediately thought of this complex and inquired. Pros: -Affordable -Great location (In between Congress and Ih35) -Walking distance to basic needs (CVS, Gas Station, Liquor, Grocery, Restaurants) -Responsive Staff -Renovated beautifully. Love my new carpet, wood floor, and marble countertops -Spacious bathroom with plenty of cabinet/storage/counter space -Decent size dog park, waste bags accessible throughout the community -Nice fitness center with everything needed for a decent workout -PLENTY of parking for FREE! Very few complexes offer this -Nice building layout, my building is super easy to find. I hate complexes that feel like a maze. Cons: -The deep sink is a pain to wash dishes by hand. Beautiful to look at but not fun to use. -Cheap window horizontal blinds. Already broke 2 as soon as we moved in. Naomi was my leasing agent. She was quick to respond to all my emails. I did everything out of state and it was smooth and easy to inquire, apply, and sign the lease. My emails were responded to right away and my move-In was stress free. The entire staff is proactive and clearly work as a team to where communication was not lost no matter who I spoke to. I have only had two maintenance issues and the maintenance crew completed both issues within 24 hours and left me communication so that I knew someone was in the home. Love!
I lived here for several years and while I did enjoy my apartment, I didn't enjoy anything else about living there. In the last year or so, the complex has been purchased twice and it REALLY changed things in the leasing office. They used to be pleasant, now they are rude and either lying, or at the very least not following through on what they say they will do. For several months they really jerked the residents around while they were figuring everything out, and were completely unapologetic about it. I have also heard them speak to each other very rudely (specifically the young guy that works there). When there was a problem with their new portal and my payment didn't go through, I was treated as if I hadn't paid (the insinuation was that I couldn't) after having paid on time every single month for years. That was the last straw for me. If you do live here, choose the third floor because if you have someone above you, it'll basically be like they're living with you. Their music is your music, their parties are your parties. And just about every year I got new people above me who were even worse than the last. Of course, talking to the leasing office is no help at all. Lastly, the grounds are pretty clean, but for the first time in my life, I saw roaches in my home - on two different ocassions over the years. I reported it and they said they sprayed, but once is more than enough for me. Wouldn't move back here to save my life.
Based on management, I would not even grant Austin City Lights 1 star. They are extremely unorganized, lack communication skills, rude, inconsiderate, and nothing but negative opinions comes from current residents. It is astonishing how management decides to handle their dilemmas. If you signed a lease, good luck!
AVOID AT ALL COST. Terrible management. Had numerous problems including being given a smaller apartment than was signed for and told there was nothing they could do about it. Floors and walls are paper thin can hear everything. Raised my rent after my first year by $200 a month. Why would I pay $200 more a month for a place that can’t ever fix their gates? Someone was mugged right outside my building.
I moved here from Mississippi to be closer to my fiance and this has been the best choice of my life. Outside of school, work, and personal life it is nice to come home to a nice neighborhood and a lovely apartment. The clubhouse is always open and always clean plus the pool is open to everyone and parties, within reason, my one bedroom apartment is big enough for four and at a decent price to fit my lifestyle. I think I'm going to really love Austin,TX.
This is the first apartment I've lived in and I have to say it's quite nice the community is very acquired to keeping our neighborhood clean and beautiful I really enjoy how quiet it is around here and the leasing agents are very well dedicated to cater to our needs... I look forward to coming home after work and relaxing at my pool at my awesome apartments! Love you Austin City lights!!!!!
Good to live, friendly staff, this can be home for short or long time, near shops, bus, school, ih-35 and downtown
