Largely due to its relative isolation from other major metropolitan areas, Sioux Falls has developed thriving local culture with robust shopping, dining, and entertainment scenes, delivering homegrown cultural resources that would be the envy of any city its size. The local rental market offers a diverse range of options -- the historic homes and apartment buildings of the City Center are popular among young professionals seeking to participate in the thriving downtown community, while the quiet suburban environment of the Shindler neighborhood tends to attract folks seeking a tranquil home life. No matter where they live, all residents enjoy the benefits of an exceptionally low crime rate, which sits at roughly half the national average.

Property Ratings at Autumn Park
This was my first apartment in Sioux Falls as I moved from out of state. Overall, I had a pretty good experience with Autumn Park. I didn't really have many maintenance issues but when I did, they were quick to take care of it. The office staff were pretty nice. Some neighbors were kind of loud, but unfortunately that's just part of apartment living. The units and building are a little outdated, but were in good shape. It would have been nice to see more regular cleaning of the hallways and stuff. Overall, I had a good experience. I was there for 2 1/2 years but moved due to the rent increasing to where I felt they were charging more than it was worth.
Property Manager at Autumn Park, Responded To This Review
Thank you for your 4-star review! We're glad to hear that you had a positive experience with our maintenance team and office staff. Best of luck in your new home!
Terrible community. Sketchy residents and people around the premises daily, making it an uncomtorable neighborhood. Terrible pets and pet owners. Cheap and outdated appliances, despite modern day rates. Cheap and outdated swimming pool. Would never recommend anyone to sign a lease with autumn park apartments.
They have very welcoming and helpful staff we are close to everything our apartment is very spacious and neighbors are also very welcoming we just love it here you should too
I never saw the same person from management twice. there was always somebody new in the office EVERY time i went in there. These apartments are outdated and cheap. There was once a young girl who clearly did not live in the building pounding on my neighbors door for hours. The pool is tiny and always crowded. There’s always people walking around the property at night police were often around and the doors to the building that are supposed to be locked were always getting propped open with rocks.
Property Manager at Autumn Park, Responded To This Review
Hello, we're sorry you feel this way about your experience at Autumn Park. Depending on the day, you may see different team members in and out of our offices as we're often taking people on tours of the property or helping out on other issues. We apologize for the nuisances you may have experienced and in some cases, we do collaborate with police, especially if criminal activity is witnessed on our premise. In any case, we wish you only the best in your future home.
Great location, close to everything. Staff are great, they always have some fun activity for the residents to participate in.
Property Manager at Autumn Park, Responded To This Review
Thank you so much for your five star review! We're so glad you're enjoying Autumn Park's location and activities. We're looking forward to starting those again (hopefully soon).
There were two shootings within a block the first couple months of living there, as well as a Fed bust. The police do patrol it frequently. Several months for maintenance to simply install a window screen missing at the time I moved in. None of the other things were fixed on the sheet you fill out regarding existing damages. They will tell you when signing the lease your rent might raise by $20 after the first year, but I was surprised to find their "offer" for another year contract to be nearly $100 more per month. The kicker, they don't give you this exorbitant "offer" until after the 60 day notice you're supposed to give them if you're moving out. They won't budge, and will add an additional outrageous charge for the apartment if you put your notification in a few days late, after you've responded to their "offer". They appear to make money off of frequent turn-around of tenants. Always take photos or video before moving in and after moving out! The garage they let me rent was literally halfway across the complex, while some residents rent 4 or more garages, right up close to their apartment. Dog poop litters the grounds, despite the required DNA test you pay for, pet deposit, and monthly pet fee. The maintenance guy picking up trash on the golf cart misses most garbage and I have never seen him pick up dog poo or test the poo, as was threatened. Grounds maintenance is lacking, with mowers shredding garbage and small branches. Parts of the buildings haven't been painted, along with mis-matched siding and soffit. Sloppy, cheap workmanship throughout. I.E. a replaced intercom system has left a large gap for moisture to enter the exterior of the apartment building. You can't control the heat in the winter. Turn the thermostat all the way down and you're still warm. Good luck getting cold water out of the faucet in winter. Alternatively, the small air conditioner in the wall of the corner of the living room has zero chance of getting cold air to the bedroom on the other end of the apartment. Utilities are "shared", so even if you're not there using said utilities, or using less than your neighbors, you are billed all the same. No recycling services. Least peaceful pool I've ever tried to enjoy an afternoon at.
Lived there, honestly pretty gross area, I woke up one night to gun shots and tires squeeling. They had nasty carpet that stunk, office was never open for someone who was working a 9-5, I left. Back to a normal area, good luck. You cannot control your own heat or air. People puked in my hallway and never got cleaned for almost 2 weeks. Shame to be honest
Good community, great staff and an all around friendly environment. Location is great for all your shopping needs and good schools for the kiddo's to attend. Love living at Autumn park! Jenifer Jensen
As a college student I was on a budget, and wanted to move off of campus. I lived at Autumn Park Apartments for almost a year, and I saved several hundred dollars a month living here. The location of Autumn Park Apartments is amazing, because it was centrally located to everything that I needed. I lived in a three bedroom apartment with two of my friends, and it was nice to finally have my own room. Our apartment was spacious and very livable. Every time I had my family over they would comment about how nice my place was. I had very good experiences the Autumn Park Apartment Property Manager. She is very caring, and wants the best for her residents.
I really love the lady who has helped us with our lease and what not. She is very friendly and personable. They are very good at working with our schedules and have been very accommodating. The balconies are very large. Overall I felt like this place has become home after the past couple of years. Everytime I walk into the management building I am greeted and some of them even remember which apartment I live in. It really makes it feel like home.
Maintenance is next to worthless, manegments hospitality is non existent and there is always someone new working the desk! I wonder why. All around bad experience, would not recommend
The "included" gas, water, trash removal listed above is a farce. It's not included, it's extra. And worst of all, they don't even have a water meter on each apartment. That's right, if your neighbor leaves his water running in the shower while he's passed out, you get to pay a piece of that pie. They require a 60 day notice. The management is not flexible. If you are trying to buy a home in the near future, I wouldn't rent here. My husband and I are finally purchasing a home and will be moved out by June 30. Our lease is not up until July 31 so I was prepared to pay rent for the month of July, even though we will not be living here any longer. I was not prepared to pay for my neighbor's water, trash removal, electric, and garage rent. Upper management contacted about this practice, but surprise! Have not heard back from them. Please from one human being to another, go somewhere else.
My roommate and I just moved in to Autumn park. The property managers were so helpful during the touring and leasing processes. My roommate and I needed to find a place quickly, and at Autumn Park every step of the way was easy to understand, and we were moved in only 1.5 weeks after we first toured. I am very happy with how reasonable and considerate the property managers have been, and I absolutely love living here.
These buildings are really conveniently located, and hey if you've got pets they'll be welcome here too. A spacious living room and kitchen is really nice, the balconies are great for watching the sunset, and the staff is really helpful and easy to relate to. The location is pretty handy because most of the shopping you need to do in Sioux Falls is like 5 minutes away. Also there's a pool, and rent drop is super easy.
Great apartment! We have been through a lot in our area lately from a huge flash flood to a major fire and some smaller fires and the apartment staff has been great on getting everything fixed ASAP and keeping up with normal maintenance requests!
I am in love with my apartment. It's perfect sized and in a great location! It's not too expensive so it fits right in my budget. I enjoy the pool and tennis court area during the summer with my friends! I don't worry about cranky or loud neighbors here so my roommate and I can do our work in piece after a long day! Truly is, my little piece of heaven.
This is my second time living in this apartment complex and let me just say it has been a very bittersweet experience. I love the apartments. Absolutely love them. The balcony is pretty big, the air conditioning units actually work, and maintenance is prompt. But the management and the neighbors leave something to be desired. Everybody smokes here, even though this is a non smoking establishment. I frequently have to close my windows because my neighbors' (plural) cigarette smoke bothers me so much. And for management. I've had a couple mishaps with them. They are not the most organized and have threatened to evict me for something I was not even in town for. And be sure to let them know you're leaving 2 months in advance otherwise they will weasle another month out of you. Not fun. So ultimately I like the apartments enough to sign on for another year but there are definitely down sides.
