Horn Lake is one of northern Mississippi’s premier suburbs for family-friendly neighborhoods, budget-friendly rentals, and convenient amenities. Banks, restaurants, grocery stores, and popular retailers line Goodman Road and Nail Road in Horn Lake. If you’re interested in more variety, cross over I-55 where you’ll find even more shopping opportunities at Southaven Towne Center and Tanger Outlets Southaven.
Close proximity to major highways is a big perk for residents of Horn Lake. I-55 serves as the city’s northeastern border, while I-69 lies just south of the city. Situated just 11 miles southwest of the Memphis International Airport, Horn Lake not only affords residents simple commutes, but easy travels as well.
Horn Lake residents get the best of both worlds—quiet suburban streets along with convenience to world-class attractions. Graceland is a mere 15-minute drive away from Horn Lake. Downtown Memphis is just 20 minutes away, offering a bevy of exciting amenities to discover.

Property Manager at Avalon at Horn Lake, Responded To This Review
We are sorry to hear about your experience. After checking here, we've found that the automated scheduling system from Stonemark continued to arrange tours even after the management transition. Unfortunately, this led to conflicts as units were already rented out, but the system was still showing them as available. This resulted in the inability to show the property. If you would like to discuss this further or have additional concerns, please contact us at AvalonPM@beztak.com for personalized assistance.
The price is too high for painted over “renovations”. Management is always rude and treats you like you are a problem for voicing concern. They need to start hiring friendly people to work as property managers because we have seen this place go through two companies and have barely been here a year. The first was a liar and we ended up having to take them to court. This new one is rude and defensive and needs and attitude adjustment. No paying tenant should have to deal with a bad attitude unless they present with one; even then, some of the customers’ upset should at least be understood. But this new manager acted as if we were bothering her! They places are a big size but the management is difficult and has always been difficult. If you want polite staff, do not move here.
Firstly, The management is horrible. Trash is all over the property. Garbage is over flooding in all trash cans. Property is not kept up. I wouldn't advise no one to move here. Just go see for yourself. I wouldn't move my dog over there
They are always looking for new and creative ways to get extra money out of current residence. They recently charged me a $200 late fee because they didn't make us aware of the new electronic payment system until one day after the grace period. There is no drop box to pay any other way, and they are horrible with communication. They also refuse to give the number to the corporate office, claiming to not have it. To make matters worse, they are extremely rude. They deserve 0 stars, but I'm required to give them 1.
If I could give them a 0, I would. Management has been changed so many times it is crazy. You can only pay on the app. The mgmt company changed again and the app changed. Cannot pay except an app or MO. Stopped in the office Fri and was assured that I would not get charged a late fee, still wasn't advised of the mgmt change. Paid Monday on the NEW app and am being charged $195.00 late fee. Surprise! BEWARE!
Literally got denied because I wasn’t at my job long enough. Six months is required when next month will make 6 months at my job. The leasing office didn’t let me know that but still chose to take my money for the app fee knowing the requirements! I didn’t get denied cause I couldn’t afford the rent when I’m highly applicable to do so. They refused to accept offer letter from my job that would have stated me applicable which I do not understand why not but would take one before the application process. They will not work with you obviously. I recommend don’t waste your time here! They’ll take your money and be done with you. They claim the owners this and that for they requirements but say they have no way of getting in touch with them. It’s all bogus!

Absolutely terrible experience. A/C has been out more than it has worked since we moved in. It is currently out again and has been for nearly 3 weeks this time alone. I have submitted 3 maintenance request and no one ever shows up but in the system it is showing they are being completed. Even spoke with 2 people in the office and was informed by one of them Thursday before that they would give maintenance the work order and would put a note for them to come out that Friday, so I waited ALL day Friday. Around 4 pm that Friday I went to the office and asked if maintenance was still planning to come that day and was informed again they’d be there so I went back to the apartment and waited until 6 and no one showed up or called to give any updates as to why they didn’t make it but they did manage to close ticket out yet again and our A/C still doesn’t work. It’s been near or over 80 degrees in apartment every night. We also received a letter(as did the entire complex) stating that we had to have our entire patio cleared off (we have a gated off privacy area by the way) and in the letter it also stated we as tenants were responsible for daily routine cleanup around our apartments. No grills, kids bikes, outdoor furniture, etc or they would charge us a one time $250 fee that would go on rent. By the way this was placed on our doors on a Thursday and we were told it all had to be cleared by that Sunday and to make things better it was a holiday weekend. I called and asked if we could have some more time because we’d be busy due to holiday and we were told no, that was corporates demands and had to be gone by that Sunday and they’d be coming around Monday to check to see who did and didn’t clear off. I’d like to share some photos of a dumpster that they’ve had in front of our apartment since we’ve lived there and I’ve pretty much been told there’s nothing they can do with dumpster because it’s where corporate wants it. They don’t have it dumped often enough. I’ve called office several times trying to get it dumped because trash is everywhere and can’t even get out of our vehicles without being surrounded by flies. The office is really good at deflecting to corporate as being the issue and never gets anything done when you try to get help. I’ve sent emails requesting corporates number to see if they can help get stuff done but never get a response. Also I’d like to mention we’ve had a BUNCH of issues in the apartment (which was supposedly newly renovated).

Hello, Jeremy. Due to the sensitive nature of this review, we feel it would be best if we spoke with you directly. Please call the office when you have the time. -The Team at Avalon at Horn Lake
I’ve been looking for places to move and this place caught my eye. I’ve been trying to contact for a tour for days. Many calls all unanswered and emails unanswered. How is someone supposed to think this is a good place to live if I can’t even have communication to see. I’ll give it a couple more days, but if they don’t answer I’ll just move elsewhere.

So first, I have lost count of how many times property management has changed; nor could I tell you how many times I have had to reach out to the regional manager to expedite work orders (mind you I haven't had that many at all in the nearly 4yrs residing here, which is the only good thing I can say in this review)! And now under we are here under owners, Elite. But unfortunately the same bad staffing at the leasing office rolled over. The gentleman leasing consultant working in the office is unprofessional and has a bad attitude. And no one answers the phone when you call in a work order. You always have to leave a message. And they don't even follow up on the messages you leave. The emergency work order option is a complete joke, especially after business hours, because no one in maintenance ever calls you back! Oh and I'm sure the "Property Manager Responded to this review" will make the same crafted statement about how she/he would love to discuss the issues further. But, again, NO ONE EVER ANSWERS THE OFFICE PHONE!!! So, if you would provide a real CORPORATE CONTACT PHONE NUMBER, I would be more than happy to speak with you directly on my issues. I am personally content with living in this community. THIS review score is strictly due to unprofessional management and the need for our so-called new owners to clean house and pay the proper market value to recruit true professional property managers that will take care of business, and attend to the needs of tenants!

Hello there, we truly appreciate your kind words and 5-star recommendation! Our mission is to provide exceptional service, and reviews like yours let us know we are succeeding. - The Team at Avalon at Horn Lake
Legacy at Westwind/Avalon at Horn Lake’s new management is terrible! They put a $311 charge on my rent payment account and did not inform me what it was for. Come to find out they raised my rent without the proper notice! Additionally, these people are extremely rude, I had the displeasure of having to speak with one of their male employees and his attitude is unbecoming. I have email correspondence and video. If you can’t resolve issues in a civil and respectful manner then you shouldn’t be working in the office! I had to leave a review on Elite Management as well after how I was treated, because really this is who you want representing your company?? Please do not move here, unless you want attitude on the rare occasion that you have an issue. Happy to be moving.

We take these reviews and our commitment to service very seriously and are very disheartened to see what you have mentioned in your review. Transparency is something we are sure to practice in each of our dealings. We would be more than willing to discuss any discrepancies you may have and what it is that we may be able to do for you going forward.
I was a very loyal resident of this apartment complex and has since moved. I did my proper notice and move out. I still have not received my deposit return even though I have written notice to receive it. The change of management and lack of urgency is very frustrating with this company. I rarely get a call back or any information that I ask for. I couldn't recommend anyone I know to this complex.
My move in date was suppose to be on 06/30/2020. I moved from out of my current home 2 hours away to relocate to a better area and I get there and my unit wasn’t ready at all. I had a Uhaul with all my things and no place to stay. I transferred all my utilities. The door was unlock to the unit and I went inside the unit was a mess. Roaches everywhere, no hot water heater, carpet nasty, and stuff still in there from when the previous tenant left. I talked with the manager via phone and email for weeks. She advised me that it would be ready but it wasn’t now today I have to find a new place for me and my three children because I gave up my house thinking I was relocating. It was a waste of money, time and lies. I took pictures of the unit and with the condition it’s in the unit won’t be ready anytime soon. This was by far the worst decision ever!!!!!
Poorly run apartments in what would otherwise be an ideal location, close to I-55 and shopping. No AC for nearly all of last summer, fingers crossed it doesn’t bust again this year. AC and much of what’s in the units need repair or replacement... AC needs to be replaced altogether. You can see missing shingles on many of the roof’s including ours. Management is moody at best and maintenance is non-existent. They appear to be driving around doing nothing. They never replace the AC filters or anything. We were billed (a small amount) for our check not being processed until the 6th of March (rent is due by the 5th), so not our fault, but they didn’t tell us until just last month and “it couldn’t be removed from the system”. Didn’t even credit the amount on this month’s rent. I just hope they don’t come up with more bogus charges. They also don’t give out the number to corporate, so there’s that too. Pool still hasn’t opened this year, was only open a couple days total last year. Latest lie I was told about the pool was that they are “waiting on pool chemicals and furniture”. No fitness center, and the playground needs to be redone altogether (no swings on the swing set, etc). We will find a way to afford to move out next year, because this is a terrible place to live. Don’t move here.

Please contact or stop by our office. We are under new management and looking forward to addressing any concerns that you may have.
We have been at Westwind since January 31, 2019 and have been without air since March. They do not do anything here but lie and the woman at the office,Sabrin, has a very nasty attitude. We pay our rent on time every month and this is the first time we are refusing. It’s not the air that’s just the problem. There is also a pest problem. Spiders, worms, and more. Oh and there is MOLD!!! They are constantly hiring new maintenance people who do nothing but walk around all day and lie. Legacy at Westwind will tell you that they’ve ordered parts when they haven’t. They will watch the phone ring because they know what you’re calling about. Legacy does not care about their residents at all. If they did they would be getting things done. Multiple people are not happy with them and THEY JUST DO NOT CARE. They also try to throw eviction and court in you face to try and make you go ahead and pay rent. I never do reviews especially like this. But this place honestly needs to be shut down. Even pluming and roofing companies are having problems with them. This is my first home and I am not pleased at all. And on top of that. We have no air and the pool will not be up this summer due to them being cheap!!!!! P. S. The only reason they got a star is because the website made me ??
I have ONLY lived at Legacy at Westwind for 4 months but This is the WORST MISTAKE I've ever made!!! Legacy at Westwind and Legacy Partners is the MOST INCOMPETENT leasing company I have ever seen, we have been without ac(for the second time) in our apartment for 3 weeks (in the middle of the summer) along with countless other maintenance issues. I called the corporate office countless times over this 3 week period with them only answering twice and stating they would get back to me (I am still waiting on them to call me back). I’ve talked to several other residents and they all have or has had some type of maintenance issue that has not been resolved or took months to fix. If you're looking to moving to the Horn Lake, Ms area, PLEASE DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!
I've been here Westwind a few months and moved no knowing the apartment didn't have air cond nor heat. Every month I pay my rent on time, but still heater is not repaired nor air conditioner repaired. I've complained several times and still no results. I need some assistance on the right people to talk to and get results. This how they treat new tenants
I have been trying to get things fixed for over a month. I was informed they only have one maintenance guy.I keep getting told someone would come. My faucets are not working properly in neither bathrooms and refrigerator leaks water everywhere. Nothing has been done yet. Rent cost too much to not get things fixed promptly or in a timely manner.
I had the worst experience ever with this apartment complex! So, I got approved for a 2 bedroom apartment. Mind you I never signed a lease I only did a application! So I got a call from Taneshia stating that I needed to bring 300 dollars so I did. After I brought the 300 dollars I was told to bring 432 for my first month rent so I did that also. Again I never signed any paper work. So Taneshia gave me a paper telling me that I had to have insurance and the lights and gas on before I can move in! So I did that as I was told. She told me I can move in the following Monday so I pack up everything my family even got me a Uhaul. I was driving almost 200 miles back and forth everyday so I was glad to be finally moving in. So when I get there I talked to a woman named Tiffany who was very rude and she told me there is noway I would be able to move in my apartment because it wasn't ready and I have to wait to be approved through their compliance office. So I got upset and went out to my car and cried because I had wasted so much money just to be told I couldn't move in. I even transferred my job there. So I got myself together and went back in and told them I just want my money back so Tiffany told me I couldn't get my 300 deposit back but I never signed a lease nor have I stepped one foot in the apartment. I lost thousands of dollars literally from gas to buying furniture, But they didn't seem too care oan its been 2 weeks and I am still waiting on my check to come in the mail. They are so careless it's sad!! STAY AWAY!
I love it, and look forward to hopefully many more years at Westwind. My reason for the 3-star rating is due to a few issues that I am not particularly pleased with management about (in no particular order): One is the fact they took away the drop box for paying rent; stating that they are trying to get more people to pay online. Well, despite those that are barely being able to even afford living here, not everyone has internet (shocker, I know, right?); and for those that do, not everyone is comfortable with paying bills online. I have knever known of an apartment community doing away with the drop box option. It would have been different if it were never an option to begin with; as there would then be no reason to comment on it. Second, the parking rules are not being addressed; even though I have submitted a request asking management to advise residents of guest parking. I reside in one of the nice coves. But because it's a cove, it becomes a problem whem neighbors have guests over, and those guests park inside the cove. I have had to resort to parking just outside of my own driveway, just to make sure I am not blocked in when I need to come and go. And on occasion, I have had to actually go over to the neighbor to ask if they could move the visiting car so that I can get out of my own driveway. Lastly, when it comes to putting in work orders, I have a problem with management not following up regarding delays in service. I understand if/when a part for an appliance needs to be ordered. But when there are major delays (like over a month since I put in the work order), I would expect a courtesy follow up to inform. And if a part is so hard to come by, then a new appliance should be the obvious alternative. And speaking of work orders, it would seem that submitting one online (if you are even able to do so) would be fast service. Well, I did this for the first time (over a month ago). But after a week, no one came to see about the problem. So I had to call the office. They had not pulled the online information until I called about it. Needless to say, I will never again put in a work order via the website. I just don't trust it. To potential residents, despite my review, I do HIGHLY RECOMMEND WESTWIND as your next home. But when providing a review, I just think one should provide the proper insight from one's own experiences. My rating would easily be upgraded to 5 STARS if the parking rules and courtesy follow up to work order delays are addressed.
We have lived here over seven years ,that should tell anyone interested in the properties that it is a safe ,well mantained and pet friendly surroundings close to shopping ,restaurants and good schools.
Greetings, I'm Joshua Thomas and I'm a proud lease holder at West Wind Apartments in Horn Lake, MS. I was in the process of relocating North of MS. I picked the Horn Lake area because of the great vibes I received from the West Wind Community. The staff was great and the neighbors was actually outside communicating with each other. Even after 10 months I'm still enjoying myself in the cozy apartment with my hardwood floors and fireplace. My marked parking area is only a couple of steps from my front door which is a big plus, no searching for a parking spot is great. My neighbors are the sweetest people you ever could meet, they look out for me. Let me not forget to mention the maintenance staff, always there to fix a problem in a very timely matter. Thank You for this opportunity to speak from a customer's view.
Love living here it's really big I need a lot of space 2 bedromes 2and a half bathrooms I lived he re 14 years no plains on moving it like my home you have your on driveway right at your door the ppl at the office are so nice they really care about us there like family Amy Greg are so nice so if anybody looking for a place to. I am a fairly new tenant of Westwind Townhomes and Duplexes, for two months now. After downsizing from a rather large house. I needed a place where I could be comfortable and not feel crammed into a small space. Westwind Townhomes has been an answer to my prayers. I am the proud renter of a 2 bd/2bth loft style unit. This floor plan is spacious enough to give me the freedom and feel of a house and not a tight spaced apartment. The neighborhood is quite, patrolled by a local friendly sheriff that lives on the grounds. The Staff is friendly, and takes care of my concerns expeditiously. The maintenance crew is AWESOME! Repairs are made within 48 hrs, or they deduct a portion off your rent. You can't beat that! I even enjoy the convenience of having a fitness center, pool, and laundry facility on the grounds that I make frequent use of. I'm happy and blessed to be a resident of Westwind Townhomes and Duplexes! :-)
Westwind Apartments is a very clean and nice area to live. The apartments and townhouses are very spacious and accommodating. The staff members are very professional and treat you with respect. I would recommend anyone looking for a place to live to choose Westwind, a place to call home.
Our neighborhood is very peaceful. It is a mixture of small families, college students, and a few lucky retirees. The amenities are nice including a pool, a playground, and a laundry mat on property. The staff is friendly and work quickly to resolve any issues that might arise. The location is very close to good schools for learners of any age. Shopping within close range for everything from groceries to a new wardrobe to a new vehicle.
Westwind is a great place to live. I moved here in 2013 from St.Louis, Missouri. The staff in the office is very helpful, polite, and considerate. If you have a maintenance issue they are prompt by responding to the issue the same day! This is the first place where I have rented and got red carpet service. There duplexes are manicured and well kept. I couldn't ask for a better place to live! I recommend Westwind to all my family, friends, and co-workers.
I have been living in Westwind since February 2002. That's not a typo. I've been living here for over 13 wonderful years. The property is well maintained, and the management does a great job of making sure all residents comply with the property rules. The units are well built. On the rare occasion when I need to place a work order for maintenance, they are quick to respond and repair, usually within 24 hours. The property is conveniently located close to shopping, dining, and schools. Given the length of time I've lived here, I can truly say that this is a great place to live!
I love it over here. I moved from New York to Mississippi and these apartments caught my eye. I am struggling for this month, but I love it and want to stay here!!
I currently live in one of the detached duplexes that are owned by Westwind townhomes and duplexes. I have been here for almost a month and the community is very quiet. The management is also very friendly and helpful. When me and my fiancé first moved in we have a few minor pest problems and plumbing problems and as soon as I notified the management they got right on the problem immediately. I recommend this townhome/duplex community because they are reasonably priced and have wonderful management.
This is home for me have been here twenty years and that speaks volume for the resident and staff. The office staff and maintance go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and part of the family. Aimee is always a breath of fresh air with a smile always on her face.
