Property Ratings at Avalon Burlington
I went for a show and the apartments look nothing like the pictures here. Very old and show cost half the price. I've seen way better apartments for much less. Maybe the price is for the location
Apartments: great apartments for sure. We loved the place we stayed in. Didn't have any of the issues other reviewers mentioned - noise, etc. Complex: The pool is tiny for such a large complex, and is a zoo. Trash is a mess too, especially recycling - typically overflowing by the end of a weekend. In our case, the trash was ways away, so we had to drive to drop off our trash - a big pain. Safety: There were 'incidents' that happened on a regular basis (typically every couple of weeks) with cars, apartments - we would get an email asking us to look out for any odd activity. This was one of the primary reasons we decided to move out. Last but not least - unsafe dog breeds. I love dogs, but much to my surprise we had neighbors with great danes, pitbull mixes - people who got away by lying about the breed of their dog. Staff: This is probably the most incompetent, complacent, unfriendly staff at an apartment I have stayed at in the last 20 years (12 across 4 states). As someone else mentioned, they are out to get you to sign up for a lease, and then gouge you when your lease ends. A tiny spot you missed to clean in the refrigerator would land you a $200 bill. Other than an endless string of emails the office staff don't bother to connect with residents. If you see one in the property they will just walk past you as though you didn't exist. When we were leaving we needed some help from maintenance, and they went out of their way NOT to help us so that they could tag us with another charge. Avoid this place! the bad experience with this Avalon has put us away from all other Avalons.
While avalon is a nice place to live, our rent has increased by the hundreds every year. There have been no improvements to our home since Weve moved in. We are finally moving out and our apartment is listed for hundreds less than we are paying. There has been frequent construction and excuses to enter our home in the two years we have been here. Workers have even stained our carpets and left Dirty rags on our table.
This property looked wonderful when we moved in. Unfortunately, a few months later, new management moved in that was more concerned with price-gouging their residents than making their time there enjoyable. They are replacing everything (most of which does not need to be replaced) and the only logical reason for it is to be able to jack up the rent prices. I expect our rent to skyrocket once our lease is up, which can't come soon enough. They have no concern for residents with work schedules that differ from the standard 9-5:30. And don't bother calling management if you have problems with other residents - they won't do a thing. Do not recommend.
