In 1661, a merchant named John Richbell purchased some land from the Siwanoy Indians -- with a collection of tools, kettles, clothing, and wampum (shell beads sometimes used for money or for making decorative belts). The area purchased for these sundry items was Mamaroneck, a Native American name that means, "the place where sweet waters fall into the sea."
Today, the bayside community of Mamaroneck provides a picturesque town nestled in the trees and wrapped around harbor-side parks and yacht clubs. The absurdly quaint mixed-use downtown area features a variety of locally-owned shops and restaurants in historic buildings along wide, tree-lined sidewalks. To be in the heart of this district, look for apartments along Mamaroneck Avenue and East Boston Post Road.
Mamaroneck is located about 22 miles northeast of Manhattan.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The Mark at Mamaroneck
Dont bother wasting your money. Rent increased by $522/mo over a 1 yr lease for a 1 bedroom!!! Being able to raise rent 22% is beyond ridiculous. Yes, they updated a facility that desperately needed it but the amount of nonsense & hassle that was tied to it was extreme. “Gated” community that gates were rarely fully operational, fob system to get into my building has been broken for 4 months yet the fob to get out of the building into the courtyard does work...makes sense right?! Packages left all over the place, garbage always on the grounds outside & the response was “we focus on keepinf the inside clean.” Walls are made of paper, barely any studs in the wall to hang anything. Paid “amenities fees” for about 5 months & there was not a single one available to residents. I would never recommend this complex to anyone based on the way tenants are treated. A $6,000 rent increase should be illegal.
They seem very friendly when you first move in, but then neglect to inform you about all the other hidden fees. Living in this place is like being a homeowner but only the negative parts of it and none of the perks. Aside from the crazy rent you have to pay all of these utilities that are super expensive. Then they make it impossible for you to move, wanting to charge you the rent and fees even though you no longer want or can live there. Total hoax. AVOID THIS PLACE
This apartment complex offers great amenities. In unit washer / dryer, dishwasher, great size. Offers a gym, pool, racquetball courts. This apartment is great for people who are new to the area but rent does go up exponentially and becomes expensive.
