Known as San Diego’s second downtown, University City is one of San Diego’s best places to live. Named for housing the University of California East Campus, University City is also known for being home to multiple medical facilities and technology companies. University City also has excellent public schools. Westfield UTC, a sprawling upscale mall in the center of the neighborhood, provides residents with upscale retailers, trendy restaurants, a year-round skating rink, and more. Renting in University City places you minutes away from the amazing outdoor opportunities SoCal is known for. Go hiking at the Rose Canyon Open Space Park or travel miles a few miles west and spend some time in the water at the La Jolla Cove. For even more shopping, dining, and entertainment options, Downtown San Diego is about 20 minutes south. Rentals in this charming, laid-back locale are mid-range to upscale and include everything from Mediterranean-style single-family homes to luxury student housing.

Property Ratings at Axiom La Jolla
Everything in apartments and outside are really old like all the appliances, doors, windows and so on. Gazillions of seagulls are everywhere in pools and on the roofs. Management really reluctant to do any fixes - if you use app to make a request you can forget about it immediately if you go to the leasing center and demand something probably will happen. You can forget about deposit the next day you paid it. Doesn't matter how big it was they always find enough dirty stains and scratches somewhere under a sink to keep it all.
The management is absolutely horrible. They are rude and do not respond half the time. The water is almost always going through an 'emergency shut off'. The apartment we live in is out not updated which is fine, except we pay the same price as those in an updated apartment. They recently raised our rent 7%. Food trucks taking up handicap parking spots and parked with loud generators right outside your windows are a weekly occurrence. Loud music coming from the pool is a daily occurrence and goes on for hours on end. Want to spend a nice sunday studying? Sorry. Want to chill by the pool and listen to your own music or read? Sorry. Bottom line, they have set up this complex like a freshman dorm when many of the residents are working people or families. For the price we pay, a little respect would be lovely. p.s, Whose genius idea was it to put a dog kennel right next to apartments and mailboxes...It smells.
Poor management skills... I get a letter 24 hr before tell me no parking in any complex spot for the next 2 days because of re-striping or YOU WILL BE TOWED!! There is about 10 street spots. When does a place do this? How about a roller so no one has to move or one area at a time. Completely ridiculous
Lived there for 4 years since it was called Trieste apartment. I really love the location and the setting of those apartments. I mostly like the settings where a door from living room and bed room both go to balcony which gives you much more light. But I want to stress the amazing management especially Giselle and Nik they have been so great with addressing my issues and work with me on anything I throw at them!! when I decided to move out, the apartment I was moving to had renovation issues and and pushed its' availability by 9 day. My apartment at Axiom was already rented to another applicant. I was in big trouble as I didn't have place to go for 8 days!! well Giselle and Nik actually worked with me and made the contractor that is going to renovate my apartment shorten his time to accommodate me for the extra days until my next apartment becomes available. And they did this for someone who is leaving their community!! I 5 starts for this community. You will never regret moving there
I love it here! The management team is great and always accessible(monday-friday)in case any issues arise and to make sure things are going well. Its been a fantastic experience. There is a sense of community here. They hold occasional events for tenants, and the food cart comes by once a week, where renters congregate. I have met a number of very nice people while living here. The maine pool is like a weekend in Cabo San Lucas; with plush greenery and cabana style seating, it is an amazingly relaxing experience. The work out area saves me money on a monthly gym membership, they have everything I need. Also, maintenance is always on call incase of an emergency. Overall it has been an amazing experience and I look forward to renewing my lease and enjoying another year here :)
Love this facility! Everything has been remodeled so it is clean ans modern. People in the leasing office are very friendly. The downside would be the expensive rent (although typical for the area) and the lack of AC.
I have lived here for several years and am currently seeking a different place. The management is absolutely horrendous. The apartments look nice from the outside but they are old and they refuse to fix things property and this causes huge problems for the residents. If a friend asked me if they should move here I would say absolutely 100% no.
If you want to be in the center of it all, shopping, world class beaches, parks, hiking trails, and have superb amenities without paying astronomical prices, then this is the place. You'll get 2 pools, 2 hot tubs, a brand new gym, (complete with a healthy snack machine), lounge area, business center, off street covered parking, and quiet area, (no trains or highway noise. even though you are close to major highways...it's true!
The new management of my apartment complex really helped turn my living experience here into a great one. The complex itself is very close to the University that I attend as well as close to shopping and other amenities. The complex is pet friendly and clean. The newly renovated gym and pool are also a plus. This is a quiet and peaceful place to live in beautiful La Jolla.
About the only nice thing I can say about this place is that it's quiet for the neighborhood that it's in (near a major University), most of the time anyway. The building is older than older than Moses and the parking spaces are tiny even for a Mini. The trash and mailboxes are located on the ground floor so it's a bit of a hassel if your unit is on any of the other 3 floors. Oh and no A/C. Ok, ok there are other good things. It's walking distance to several shopping centers. There's in unit washers/dryers and covered parking if you happen to get one not boxed in by an SUV and a mini van. Also getting a hold of anyone in the leasing office is difficult to put it nicely, fortunately all the paper work can be completed online.
It's been a week since a moved into my new place and although I enjoy the community and the neighbourhood, the maintenance team here are really lazy. The first day I moved I saw several cobwebs on my ceiling and there's was a layer of dust on top of my closest (which is still there). There's nothing that the Maintenence team did in this apartment that can honestly praise them on. The kitchen cabinet smelled, and there were several things around the apartment which clearly needed to be replaced before it was rented out but none of these things were fix. I know every complex has it own issues and base on this, and the fact I've only lived here for a week, is the reason why I'm giving it 3 stars
