Louisville is the largest city in Kentucky, resting alongside the Ohio River on the Kentucky-Indiana border. The architecture in Louisville is a mix of old and new, with historic neighborhoods comprised of Victorian houses and towering skyscrapers scattered throughout the downtown area, many of which contain upscale apartments and condos available for rent.
The amenities in Louisville are just as diverse as the architecture. Renting in Louisville affords you the opportunity to see the famous Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, learn more about a boxing legend at the Muhammad Ali Center, and meet a range of animals at the Louisville Zoo. The city’s award-winning restaurant scene is an exemplary display of Southern cooking. Just outside the city lies the Louisville Mega Cavern, a vast underground space offering a broad range of adventurous attractions.

Property Ratings at Axis on Lexington
lived here for year. honestly not the best living situation but there's definitely worse. there was a really bad package theft problem the majority of the time i lived here and it didnt really get "solved" until my last month/ month and a half so i was really disappointed especially on the packages i wasnt able to get back. there weren't exactly monthly community events but i think they tried. i did have a lot of trouble getting in contact with the front office multiple times, i wouldn't really count on getting a timely response through email, and youre lucky if theyre in the office. i set up mail forwarding before i moved and still got a package delivered here after and one of my friends has tried to pick it up 4 times, even calling the office to confirm they'd be there, and then they wouldnt be there, so thats kind of disappointing too. but like i said not the worst option, the apartments themselves are nice and most of neighbors are nice...

The management at Axis could not be worse, which is sad because the apartments themselves are actually nice, as is the location. For starters, rent is not cheap yet it is almost mid July and Axis has not managed to have the pool open yet. It is currently closed by order of the Louisville Health Department. Maintenance response time is also horrible, even for emergencies. For months the emergency maintenance line didn’t even work. Security is also a problem - there are nonfunctional cameras and doors to the building frequently break. I’ve lived here for two years, and despite multiple requests to fix the guest entrance call box, it still doesn’t work. Perhaps the biggest problems is that there is never someone to reliably speak to about any of these problems in management. In its current state, I wouldn’t recommend anyone live here and I likely won’t be renewing my lease.

This message has been aggregated and shared with the management group for review and action. Reviews are a great way to spot trends which steer policy and investment. Residents pay thousands of dollars per month and wait weeks to months for things to get fixed. Corporate has “cleared house” in management 3 times within a year time period. They had 8 months to fix the pool and the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend announce that it is broken and they don’t have any idea on when it will be open. They love to advertise the “safety” of this complex when exterior doors are constantly open due to little to no maintenance being done on the doors from usual wear and tear. Packages stolen daily, 4 possible places for said packages to be delivered. I would advise anyone looking into these apartments to run the other way. Literally go anywhere else!!!

We apologize for the delay in responding to this review. However, the benefit is that we can point to the incredible turn around at Axis since this review was posted. We encourage you to visit today for a refreshing look at beautiful property with a great team.
Poorly managed. Nothing works and nothing gets fixed. Very dirty. The pool is currently not working. Half the gym equipment isn't working. The previous staff would lock the doors and hide in the office. No one would answer questions about unusual fees. The price goes up each year and the property is getting worse and worse. Neighbor was with out AC on a week night. No one responded to the 24 hour maintained line. Packages are horrible. No one knowsnwhen or whereby there package will end up. Go anywhere else until they fix the problems.
The current residents of Axis on Lexington are struggling to see the "luxury" living in this community. The cost is absolutely high but let me tell you about the "luxury lifestyle" they boast about on their website. There have been old mattresses in the parking lot for over 2 months. The ceiling in the resident mailroom is literally falling on our heads as we try to get into the mailboxes. Drywall has been scattered all over the mailroom for a week and maintenance hasn't even bothered to pick up the huge chunks of debris. Lost and stolen packages daily. The "state of the art fitness club" with broken or malfunctioning equipment is sad at best. Each building is locked with security doors which is nice however, if you have a guest over not only do you have to meet them at the door to open it for them (the guest entry service is broken) but you also get to walk your guest to your apartment door passing filthy hallways with dog urine urine and water damage along the root. ON EVERY FLOOR! Filthy elevators that beep constantly. Security doors that slam so loud you can hear them in other buildings. Constant issues with already reserved paid parking spots being reallocated to other residents by management. New management has had plenty of time to clean this place up. Its time the residents shed some light on this lack luster flop house fronting as luxury. Seriously, the rent is very high and the quality is equal to government housing.
I've lived here for over 3 months and the dog park has been out of order for all but the first 2 weeks. It's one section of fence that should take a few hundred dollars and a few hours to fix. You'd think with the thousands of dollars in pet rent they collect every month they might be able to pick up the phone and call someone to fix it, but you'd be wrong. Replacing light bulbs should be a little easier, but that also seems like too much to expect. 3 of the 8 lights in the back parking lot still work, and that seems to be pretty typical for the entire property. For a place that promotes itself as super dog-friendly, it doesn't feel very safe if you have to take them out after dark. Their inability to replace light bulbs or make a phone call should tell you everything you need to know about Axis.
The new management company, while the employees are nice, don't work on bigger issues right away. The visitor call box has been down for almost 6 months now with regular maintenance requests and we've been told it will be replaced since February. The location is wonderful, close to downtown and the Highlands but hidden away from most of the noise and traffic. The units are beautiful. I will echo a previous review, the water charges are based on community usage and we have been paying for water from previous years which was not billed correctly.
It’s nice and location is great but the buildings have mice, at least building 302 does, and the hot water in the dog spa is always broken so no one can use it, and nothing is included with the rent. What’s also annoying is that you don’t get billed for your personal water and sewer consumption, you get billed based on what the whole building has consumed. So you could be gone on vacation for weeks and your water bill will still be high as you’re paying for everyone else’s consumption. Overall it’s good but just beware it’s definitely not perfect. Also the rent gets increased every year. I think next year I’ll be moving out. Also management was notified about the mice and lack of hot water in the dog spa way back when I moved in and nothing has been fixed. I will say that the pool is nice though as is the fitness center! so this place has its pros and cons
Maintenance usually respond within same day and resolve issues for you ASAP. Maintenance person resolved an issue for us during our work day and actually retrieved all of our cat's lost toys for us, from behind the water heater. Also a great place to live if you have pets or are an animal lover. 24/7 pet bathing room and small, gated dog park. Dog bags/disposal available at multiple locations around the complex - very easy to walk your dog before or after work, around the sidewalked area. I always feel safe in the area, this is the kind of apartment complex where you never feel like you have to worry about anyone 'stealing packages,' etc. Everyone has always been super friendly, and staff are great as well. Staff also sends out 'perks' for residents, and they offer a 'Wine Wednesday' with free drinks for residents to get together and talk. Ample parking available, and hallways are always clean (none of that weird smell that some pet-friendly buildings have), you'd never know it was a pet building at all (besides all of the fun animals you meet while walking around, of course). This is a great place to rent from. Apartments are spacious, appliances are modern. Well lit at night to add to feeling safe when walking to or from your car.
I lived at Axis for a year, and I loved every minute of it! The staff was AMAZING! Whitney was my initial contact and helped ensure that my move to Louisville was easy as possible. However, Kathy, Whitney, and Angela took the time to make me feel like I had a family in Louisville! As a Louisville transplant, this made a difference! They always take the chance to go above and beyond to ensure that their residents are taken care of. The monthly social events make the community stand out featuring many local businesses. There are various layouts and options for different needs, and there is a fit for everyone. The apartments are modern with every upgrade you can think of. If you are thinking about moving to Axis, do not think twice. You won't regret it!
As Kaitlyn said (Feb. 2017 review): 5 stars doesn't even do this place justice. Today is my second full day at Axis. It is also my birthday and this is the best birthday present I could have given myself. After dithering for years over when and where to downsize, and having for over a year driven by Axis on my way to work (now I can walk there), it only took me two visits to make it a NOW and HERE decision. Of course, as Whitney would tell you, there were 8 months between those two visits, but I could never get the apartment I first saw out of my mind: airy and open, very well appointed, with exactly the spaces and size I thought I'd like and need. And the staff members are warm, welcoming, and helpful to the max, which are the qualities that really sealed the deal for me. Now, here I am happily celebrating birthday #73 in my new home--and don't let that give you the idea the age demographic trends toward the higher numbers--diversity in age and every other aspect is exactly what gives Axis a charm and invigorating atmosphere all its own. One of the many reasons I'm loving this place.
I've been living at this complex for a couple weeks now and I'm floored by the professionalism and friendliness of the staff here. The complex is still being built so there are some growing pains but that is more than made up for by the service here. The decor is well thought out and makes you feel at home. The existing amenities are great and that's before the courtyard and pool are even completed, both which will be done soon. If there's an issue, they make up for it with your best interests in mind. Give Kathy, Adrienne or Whitney a call to take a tour. If you are looking for a special community led by wonderful people, you can't do better than Axis.
