Southwest Raleigh borders the scenic campus of North Carolina State University and houses many shopping centers and apartment complexes to accommodate students. The western edge of the neighborhood gives way to more established subdivisions full of families and professionals. Residents enjoy easy access to major expressways, Downtown Raleigh, and nearby Cary. Sporting events and festivals put on by the university are a major benefit to living in this suburb. Considering its proximity to major amenities, Southwest Raleigh stays relatively quiet and encompasses many natural areas, lakes, and green spaces for locals to enjoy the outdoors and Raleigh’s temperate climate.

Property Ratings at Bacarra
I lived here for a year and it was an awful experience. For starters when I moved in, they didn't have my postal keys. It took a month of me calling in the office asking where they were before I finally got them. The pest control they had was useless as far as I could tell. I ended up doing a better job of killing pest myself. At one point it took a whole month for my AC to be fixed and didn't even get a temporary unit until two days before it was fixed. The online portal was also useless, I had switched banks and filled out my new info long before the end of the month, but they still charged my closed bank account and then charged me a late fee, even though I was doing everything to prevent that from happening. Neighbors would park illegal on the street and in handicap spots, but I never saw a tow truck enter the neighborhood. The price looks tempting considering the market, but spending an extra $100 a month somewhere else is a much better investment. The move in process was also painful as no one in the office knew what they were doing when I moved in and sent direct deposits. Don't move here.

I’ve been living here for less than 6 months and I can say that that every single month, there has been some kind of issue. Ive had a mouse in my apartment 2nd month in and was simply told that they would put me on the pest control list (it’s already suppose to be pest control - we pay a fee for it every month). Management staff isn’t helpful and always has to get back with you, if they ever do!! They have high fees just to pay your rent with a debit card (extra $52 on top of already expensive rent). God forbid you have nfs and they will charge you ridiculous fees just to be able to try the payment again (rent + nfs fee -$35 + late fee - $81 + debit card -$52)! Now I’m told I can only pay rent using check cashing locations or with a debit card including extra fee, very inconvenient! This will be my first and last lease at this apartment complex.

I can't believe I never gave my review when I moved in 2019. I signed a lease on a 2BR 2018 & we were one of the first tenants in some of the back buildings that had just finished being built. When we signed our lease it was a little expensive than what I liked but because I was commuting so far for my job at my previous residence I needed to be closer & thus justified my living expense increase. Paid all the necessary fees/move in rent costs, their outrageous pet fees & moved in. Didn't have too much of an issue. I go online to the portal to set up auto-drafts for rent & manually pay the November rent (moved in ~October 20th) & was surprised to see no rent is due. Knowing there is never anything as free rent, I emailed the property about it. They said there was a move-in special that no one told us about where we got our first full month rent free. Interesting to NOT mention that as that seems like a pretty good selling point to rent a unit but OK. The next couple days I spoke to probably 2 other people in that office INCLUDING the bookkeeper to confirm this infor & was told that it was in fact true. To be on the safe side, I never set up the auto-draft. B/c as soon as December 1 came around, BAM! I got a bill for almost $5k in rent charges & ever since then it was a constant fight with the office. No one told me that this was a free month, they have no record of it, the bookkeeper was always unavailable but would call me back (sure Jan), etc. I got the run around. The icing on the cake was that my job transferred me to Louisiana causing me to have to break my lease. Unfortunately for me, I wasn't high enough on the food chain to get all of my moving expenses paid for so I was forced to pay $3,870 to break the lease. I would have hoped that considering all the nonsense about this rent issue being a problem that some sort of concession could have been made for coming down on the price but Bacarra? Of course not! I ended up paying it because I honestly didn't have a choice; I had to be 1000 miles away in under 2 weeks for work. I had to deal with their leasing "staff", property "manager", and their bookkeeper/finance person who was NEVER in the office (how magical) over the issue of these back rent charges. I got to the point where I had to call a law firm and involve an attorney. RIDICULOUS! BEWARE - IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY OR THE HASSLE. It's like the girl at the bar who is really pretty; the next morning she's not as pretty as you remember her.

I am currently living here. My air conditioner was not working for more than a month now and I am living in temperatures greater than 80F. They setup a small window unit which is limited to a piece of area. It’s really frustrating. No efficient service men. Management really doesn’t care even after 1 month without ac. Don’t recommend

Recently, the apartment above me had a horrible flood which flooded my bedroom. I called, and called, and called their emergency number and NO ONE ever called back. The fire department cut the water and electricity off (thank God) . It was over two hours before anyone showed up. Then, when I requested for them to research why my water bill was so high, they discovered a clear white tube (maintenance) was broken in my toilet bowl. They denied my concern and told me I had to pay for the extremely high (triple than the normal) water bill because I didn't put in a work request. Now, how am I suppose to know a tube disconnected in my toilet bowl? I requested a copy of my past water bill which I am still waiting for, got a shock from the light socket when I attempted to turn the light switch on, and had to go to the office because they NEVER return phone calls. I've lived in apartment managed by Carroll Management in SC and now NC. Time to find a place that appreciated its tenants. Shame on Bacarra Apartments and Carroll Management.

Our team is disheartened to read your feedback, which certainly doesn't reflect our typically high standards. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience related to water damage and other maintenance concerns, and we would like an opportunity to address your comments at the earliest. Please contact us at info@recarrollmanagement.com so we can take action to rectify this situation. Thank you for your review.
These apartments are pretty nice (except for as the other reviewers have mentioned no natural light, and very few lights in the apartment itself) until you have to communicate with the unorganized office staff. They are very slow to get back with you, if they get back to you at all. Good luck getting answers when you need them. Maintenance is also slow with a chance of not showing up at all.

Thank you for your candid feedback which alerts us to areas that may need attention in our community. We are glad you enjoy your apartment and want to ensure that your entire experience is favorable, especially involving service. We'd like to hear more about your interactions with our team; please contact us at info@recarrollmanagement.com so we can gather additional details. We look forward to improving your experience!
The water pressure in the apartment is subpar. When I first moved in Bacarra in June my shower was clogged upon arrival. It took maintenance 4 days to come out and fix it. Maintenance also took 2 weeks to come fix my dishwasher that would leak on my kitchen floor and not actually clean my dishes. The lighting in the apartment is pretty bad, in fact you have to keep lights on otherwise your apartment will be dark. The parking situation is horrendous. There’s not enough parking for the amount of people that stay at this apartment. The only positive thing about this apartment is that the rooms are very large and the apartment itself is huge. It’s also very close to I-40 and 440. So getting around Raleigh is pretty easy. If you don’t have a car, don’t care that maintenance has no sense of urgency, and don’t care that your apartment will be dark even when the blinds are open, then you should definitely move in! I obviously won’t be renewing my lease.

These apartments are perfect for you if you are a bat! If you are thinking about this place, check it during the day, even in the morning or noon, the living room does not get natural light. The dining area and kitchen are completely dark. You actually cannot see anything in the kitchen or dining area without turning the light on. The windows are small and very badly designed in a way that minimum light gets in the apartments. I checked all their best options in terms of lighting (east facing, north facing,...) and they were all very very dark. I am sorry that they made such a bad design because except lighting everything else about these apartments are really good. But who wants to live in a fancy cave?! We had to cancel our lease and it was a big waste of time. So first check its lighting condition, be aware!
