Property Ratings at Barton Creek Landing
Location is great but property management is not. Multiple maintenance requests that were not fixed. Mostly plumbing which comes directly out of my pocket for leaking faucets and showers. Late fees are astronomical and will not be waived under any circumstances. This company doesn’t care about its tenants they just want to fatten their own pockets. You’ll pay $40 a month for a carport but they will allow contractors to park in your spot.

This was my first apartment in Austin and it is amazing. Older building but they have done some slight remodeling. The UDR staff is amazing. Maintenance is always super quick to respond and they repair issues in a timely matter. Communication from the staff is great. Lots of parking for guest. Pretty quiet street! Overall great experience. Would highly recommend

Hello, Thank you so much for your glowing review of our community. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your residency and home with us. Thank you for sharing your feedback! Kind Regards, Madison
I love this place. I moved here a little more than a year ago from the other side of the country and had very little time to find a new apartment. WOW am I lucky I found this gem. My apartment is absolutely beautiful. The entire development is well-kept and quiet (despite only being about 5-10 minutes from downtown - I can see it from my balcony). And the staff is exceptional. I've only ever had VERY minor issues w/my apartment, but no matter what it's been (e.g., once I couldn't get a window to close), the gentleman in charge of maintenance, Jeff (or one of his colleagues), always shows up by the following morning to fix whatever needs help. Sidney, who works in the office, couldn't be nicer. Any time I've ever had any questions (and I've asked her A TON of dumb questions), she always has the answer (again, to be fair, they are REALLY dumb questions, but she's always very nice about not letting on when she answers). There’s also another woman (I don’t recall her name) who works there (I think maybe only on the weekends) and she is also steadfast in her professionalism (again, dumb questions). The development has a pool, a gym, and they even do monthly breakfasts. No matter what else I need - the grocery store, Target, a different gym, the mall, movie theater, whatever – it’s all within 10 minutes, but again, the development is secluded enough that you'd never know you were in a major metropolitan area from inside my apartment. I highly recommend checking this place out. I've lived in a number of different apartment buildings, and this is by far the best one.

It makes us happy to see our residents' love calling our community home. Thank you for your review! Kind Regards, Madison WeCare@udr.com
I was set to move in and paid a lease hold deposit. They told me I was approved, then all of the sudden I wasn't. They told me my case was being elevated to a supervisor and that they would reach out to me. NO ONE EVER REACHED OUT TO ME. When I did get in touch with them, I was told I was denied. I have reminded them about my lease hold deposit and they are refusing to return it. They said I was approved the whole time and I cancelled moving in. WHY WOULD I DO THIS?!?!?!?!???? I WAS TRYING TO MOVE IN!!!! Who is lying here: the leasing agent (Sidney) that told me I was denied or the business manager (Brandee) who told me I was approved the entire time??? All I'm saying is, they must be doing bad because they are in the business of keeping every penny of yours no matter how shady it comes off.
Poor management, quality of buildings plus materials, poor maintenance upkeep. Resident for 4 years. Moved out due to severe black mold found in building 12 in August 2017. They were tearing the walls down around us and agreed to release me from the lease which was about to end in late January without any penalty. The udr management tried to coheres me to sign a legal document releasing them of any and all problems health or otherwise caused from their buildings. Beware they charged near $8,000.00 to my acct and credit against their written word. Beware, location does not tranlate reliable.
Great location - you can bike to Zilker Park and the Greenbelt access is wonderful. BUT - the management company is awful. Not responsive to issues and constantly push off issues as not their fault. After water damage (and black mold that caused 2 families to move out after getting very ill), there were electrical issues. I received a bill over $5700 for a month of power, spoke with the utility company and attempted to post a note to neighbors on the private bulletin board asking if anyone had similar issues. My post was rejected "by management" with no reason given saying I could reach neighbors by other means. So instead of privately helping me out, the management prefers me to post publicly to say how horribly managed this complex is. In 3 months of residing here, my power has been out 4 times and my water cut off 3 times. Lack of communication from management and lack of follow up really makes this complex a bad place to live. Simple questions aren't answered - like when are the security gates supposed to be shut? It is very random and I was never given an answer as to how the gates (open/close time) were managed. Half the exterior lights are out, another safety issue. Parking - if you have more than 1 car per apartment DO NOT move here.
Its a shame that the complex is so beautiful, and that the maintenance is some the best I have ever experienced. Because the management brings all of that down. They constantly over promise and under deliver. We were told when we toured the complex that every apartment came with a NEST thermostat and a TV you can put wherever you would like in the apartment. Not only were both of those things not true, they tried to say that we were lying about it just to get the stuff! Not only that but we were told that a service they offer called parcel pending was $20 upfront and thats it. Guess what, thats not true either. If the higher ups at UDR are reading this, please put your management through retraining. Theres no reason for a complex of this caliber to have management be this bad. Also if you are planning to move here, make sure to get everything in writing. They love to go back on what they said. Im willing to change my review if I see some changes.
If you like to be woken up by jack hammers then I would suggest UDR, Inc. Apartments for Rent is the best place to live. Free morning alarm which will even wake up the dead. If you like to get petty cash for your inconvenience then UDR Apartments are the best place to live. Before you even finish giving your feedback they will try to feed you cash. If you love a customer service that stone walls you and always forgets to notify you of any disruption they cause in your life then UDR Apartments are the place to live. If you love to live in place where you pay to get horrible service then UDR Apartments are the best place to live. You will get your money's worth everyday. I got a very good lesson from UDR's Corporate Residents Relation manager that their organization is rotten to core. Their every attempt is to sideline, blame on petty excuses and make sure they don't have to lift a finger to help you out.
BCL has the best amenities in Austin: a very large, relaxing pool, clean gym with lots of equipment, and guest house to host parties (and monthly brunches through the complex). The management accommodates every need, large or small and is very responsive upon request.
We were nervous about moving into this complex after some mixed reviews we found online, but since moving here, we have nothing but great things to say! The buildings were recently remodeled, and everything is gorgeous and clean. The complex is broken up into 25 unique buildings, each 2-3 floors so there's definitely some privacy. Our building, (#13) actually backs up to the Greenbelt, and there's nothing but trees outside our balcony. It's gorgeous. We have had some routine maintenance (light bulbs, clogged sink) and both were resolved within the day. Sarah, the front desk lady, is super friendly and helpful, she even remembered the name of our dog and greets us when we see her around the complex. While I'm on the subject, this is an excellent apartment for dogs! There are so many, and each building has green space outdoors, apart from the dog park on the property, which is impeccably kept. The gym and pool are always clean and don't have that overwhelming smell of bleach that some buildings have. All together, the units are beautiful. The prices are affordable. The commute downtown is not bad (10 minutes with no traffic). And the amenities are great. Two thumbs up.
I've lived in plenty of apartments in my life. This complex is the third one I've lived in since I moved to Austin and its hands down the best! The apartments are awesome. Quality fixtures, appliances, etc. My apartment truly feels like a home rather than a rental unit. And to make everything better, the amentities are fabulous. The pool is the best! Comfy lounge chairs with cushions, a gas grill and counter space and an awesome hot tub. We also have a dog park on site that's super convenient, a gym, office space, and clubhouse with full kitchen, a second grill and family room area that's available whenever. But honestly, my favorite part of this complex is the people. I have an 8 yr old boy and have made so many awesome parent friends as well as genuinely great people. Whether you have kids or not, the people here are amazing. This is the first apartment complex I've rented in that has a genuine sense of community. We grill out together several times a week, swim, hang at each other's places. I honestly feel at home when I'm here. I plan to rent here until I'm ready to buy. And I'd highly recommend renting here!
