Approximately 50 miles west of Kansas City, the outer portion of Lawrence, known as West Lawrence, maintains a suburban feel with large, single-family homes, a lot of park space, and quiet streets. Residents still have the convenience of nearby restaurants and shopping, allowing for access to city amenities without big-city traffic.
This part of the city remains an active hub for schools, retail stores, and neighborhood associations. Free State High School anchors the neighborhood, and younger children attend Langston Hughes Elementary School on the west side of Lawrence. There’s quick access to I-70, making a commute anywhere a breeze.

Property Ratings at Bauer Farms Apartments & Townhomes
I would highly recommend Bauer Farms to any of my friends. The staff, Kara and Haylee, have been extremely hospitable and welcoming as I've adjusted to living in Lawrence. They have made the process of establishing roots in Lawrence much simpler. I found my apartment to be very spacious and well maintained. The apartments here are so nice that once I started inviting friends to visit me, they started asking about finding an apartment here themselves! The main lobby area for the complex has provided me with a nice place to study with friends or simply find a nice change of scenery to do my work. The pool area is also really nice when I come home from a long day of doing research at KU. If I feel the need to exercise, there is plenty of equipment available for me to use as well. All in all, Bauer Farms is one of the best apartment complexes I have had the pleasure of staying at in recent years and it is definitely worth checking out if you are looking for a place to live.
i moved in about a year ago and i love it here. it's so quiet and my neighbors are really nice. i love the location that it's right by everything on the west side of lawrence. i'll be staying for a while!
Bauer Farms is complete trash! From the employees never picking up the phone to the horrendous management known as First Management. Whenever you set up an appointment with these imbeciles they're either unprepared with no knowledge of the meeting upon arrival and the showing is either not yet set up or the current tenant is still there and unaware of the showing due to Bauer Farms failure to notify the current tenant. First Management is run by incompetent employees who aren't even trained in property management.
I just moved into these new apartments. There is still some construction going on, but it does not cause any inconvenience to me whatsoever. The property is looking better and better everyday. Management has been fantastic from day 1! I highly recommend!
