Friendship is a tiny neighborhood about five miles east of Downtown Pittsburgh. Friendship lives up its name and has a strong sense of community. The Friendship Community has neighborhood committees and hosts a variety of events throughout the year, like the Friendship Flower & Folk Festival, an annual celebration with music, an art market, a book sale, and sustainable gardening demos. Along with a close-knit community, Friendship boasts an excellent location. Along with grocery stores and locally owned restaurants, residents have plenty of options for shopping, dining, and nightlife in nearby neighborhoods like East Liberty and Bloomfield. Friendship is proximate to the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, and Chatham University. Property Ratings at Baumhaus Apartments
Expensive rent and little to show for it. Overall, this has been a clean apartment, but there are a number of cons. 1. Management does not do anything with noise complaints. This makes it difficult for healthcare workers who sleep in. In addition, if you have an apartment that faces the alley way, you can expect the noise of garbage trucks in the morning. 2. If you're paying for the cleaning service, be aware that they frequently forget to vacuum the apartment. I'm not sure what cleaning happens besides cleaning your bathroom. 3. I have had food shipments that were thrown away on the day of as the manager, Drew, states that there was a foul smell coming from it. In their defense, they called my meal delivery company and had them send another shipment. 4. I have had the janitor in the building come and yell at me if I do not unfold my boxes before placing them in the trash chute room. 5. COVID has resulted in a lot of closed public spaces and restricted access to the gym. Most of the time the one treadmill that has been left open is occupied. Overall, I expected a better experience here for the amount that was spent. Advantages include proximity to the hospital and clean building. I do think you can get better deals in the area for money spent.
Brand new apartments! Exactly what I was looking for in the Shadyside area near shopping, restaurants, and bars.
The staff at Ollie are super friendly and personable. They offer great customer service and amenities. The kitchen cabinets are all brand new. The bathrooms are well-lit and very clean. The fitness center was super convenient, and it was fantastic being right in the heart of Shadyside. Everything is within walking distance not to mention the beautiful view of the neighborhood from the rooftop. It’s the perfect inclusive, welcoming community. I’m really impressed with everything Ollie has to offer!
Their apartments are just very uncomfortable. the apartments are touted as soundproof but they are absolutely not. I had a 2nd floor apartment and it was like cars were driving through my room at night, and I could hear my neighbors next door and on the level above and even music from the lobby. The apartments are small for the price you pay. I thought my 2 bedroom apartment was spacious enough when I took the tour. but once I moved in I found it very cramped with no place for storing basic items. so if you're all in to feng shui and having minimal possessions this might be the place for. it's just not for me. The cabinets/drawers are cheap and kept getting stuck (kitchen) or falling out (drawers in the bathroom) or shelves falling out of the mirror cabinet (also in the bathroom). They have what they call “hotel style” bathrooms. If hotel=uncomfortable then yes they are indeed hotel-style. They have these walk-in showers in the master bedroom with no way of keeping the water from getting all over the bathroom floor. There are issues with privacy, and the fine line between friendliness and feeling like you and/or your guests are being interrogated whenever you walk through the lobby is clearly not recognized. And yet weirdly, on the other hand, there are tons of staff around during the day and after 6 pm the lobby is a dead zone. most other buildings in the area have less staff but a 24 hour lobby security person. which is much more useful and obviously more secure. The rent is very high considering all the above especially since there isn't 24 hour lobby staffing. the whole idea of coliving/having common social events sounds better than it is in reality. It is very unlikely you can find events that interest the majority of tenants, unless I guess you want a very homogenous tenant population. I certainly had no interest in doing arts and crafts, yoga, or olive oil tastings. When I was given a tour I was promised a restaurant and/or bar in the building was being built. No such thing in site. The online portal for maintenance requests is useless, it is really hard to relay the issue on it. The garage door is terrible. they have a ridiculous package-receiving system. I don’t recommend this place at all. you simply don’t get what you pay for in this building. I toured lots of buildings in the city and regretted choosing this one. This place offers absolutely nothing useful above the other similar type/similar price buildings in the city.
terrible management make empty promises and have all wrong priorities. poorly-designed apartment, cheaply made. garage door never works.
