Property Ratings at Beacon Lake Apartments
We went to Beacon Lakes Rental Office yesterday, ready to sign up, apply, put money down, tour apartments and anything else required to make the commitment and get the process started for a 2 bedroom apartment there. The man we spoke to took our information down, and said they had 4 two bedroom apartments available. Two for 9/5 and two for 9/7. He promised that they would still be available the next day and that he wanted to set up an appointment for us to talk to someone else. We set the appointment and waited for that time to then go back to their office and continue our process to get an apartment. Upon arriving, we met with the woman he set our appointment with. The first thing out of her mouth is that the soonest they would have any 2 bedroom apartments available is 9/27!!!! I was livid!! I was in their office 24 hours prior and the apartments were still available and I was a paying customer sitting in the office ready to sign, pay, or do whatever would have been required to NOT have them rented out from under me and guess what!!!??? They were! What a reprehensible and unacceptable business practice. The worse thing was that he promised they would still be available. In hindsight, I should have refused to leave without that promise in writing and/or have made them, forced them to take a deposit from me or something. It is the worst experience I have had in trying to rent an apartment and would NOT ever recommend them to anyone. Oh, and by the way, the phone rang while we were talking to him and he looked down and recognized the number. He made a derogatory remark about it being a current resident that he sarcastically said: "He always tells me he forgets about it or didn't get the notice etc.." then he said: "He better be stopping by here today to bring me some money". Well, I am sorry but that is certainly none of my business, and it's so good to know that the staff are talking poorly about their residents in front of prospective residents. Awesome - NOT!
Property Manager at Beacon Lake Apartments, Responded To This Review
Hello, and thank you for sharing your feedback with Beacon Lake Apartments. It was a pleasure to meet you on Friday and take you on a tour of our community. Per our conversation during your tour, we were unable to accommodate your requested move-in date due to your current lease end-date. We are proud to follow Fair Housing policies, which indicate our apartment homes are available on a first come, first serve basis. We did confirm with you we had two apartments available, provided the dates available, and informed you of those applicants who had applied before you and were on the waitlist. We advised waitlist applicants would receive first choice on any apartment home that came available, and one of our waitlist applicants did rent one of the available apartments. We do accept applications and a holding deposit for our apartment homes, and you were invited to take applications with you to fill out and bring back during your follow up visit, but the offer was declined. When the phone rang during your tour, we did not answer, and we explained our team feels it is inconsiderate to a tour to answer the phone, but no other information was shared, as we value and respect our residents and their privacy. It was not our intention to cause you any inconvenience and we are very sorry we were unable to accommodate your desired floorplan and move-in date. If you have any additional questions, comments, or concerns, please, don’t hesitate to contact us directly at 517-676-8877 or beapropmgr@villagegreen.com. Thank you, Paige K., Executive Manager
I chose to move to Beacon Lake Apartments for several reasons. Their office staff is the most friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating staff I've ever met. The property is beautiful with it's two lakes. They have affordable rates. My 2-bedroom apartment is extremely clean and roomy. Very much worth the rental fee. The apartment has a very homey feeling. I can see myself living here for a long time.
This apartment is in a quiet area, when you have the windows open you can hear the fountain on the lake. The things that really made this apartment stand out to me are the secure entrance, vaulted ceilings - making the apartment feel huge, large walk-in closets and extra large bathroom. There is a pool and exercise room off of the office, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Beacon Lakes does a really nice job of making an apartment feel like home!
