Considered the cultural capital of the South, downtown Charleston contains the French Quarter on the east, sporting cobblestone streets and gaslight lamps, and Market Street on the west, where the famous Charleston City Market operates. Because the downtown area sits between the Ashley River and the Cooper River, residents can walk from their apartments to Waterfront Park, a few blocks south, for a little rest and relaxation or wander along the narrow streets, where historic homes and buildings proudly sit.
Locals enjoy spending time at the Charleston Crab House for both the fresh seafood and the homey atmosphere. They can people-watch on the outside terrace while enjoying good food and cold drinks.

Property Ratings at Bee Street
I can walk to work and I now save soooo much on gas, so many nice restaurants and shopping nearby. Just about every week there's some sort of improvement and I love it. I did check out the reviews before moving and noticed a lot were pretty old, so I decided to leave my 2 cents. They have a gym they are renovating and was told it would reopen within a week or so, the lounge is nice, ample parking and in downtown you cant beat that! The rent prices are actually pretty good compared to other places in the area, and the manager is super sweet and prompt. Literally, no complaints.
Property Manager at Bee Street, Responded To This Review
Thank you for your reviews. We are so happy that you are enjoying your new home.
Great location, great maintenance, manager responds to my emails pretty quick and is always pleasant even if I just stop in the office for a bit. Glad I decided to check the place out for myself!
MGMT does not respond on time, no one onsite, no reply email option -internet is terrible, refuse to fix, even threaten to shut down for everyone because of one apartment possibly pirating -garbage is often overflowing with rats near the bins -parking system is annoying, extremely expensive, and doesn't prioritize residents over others RECONSIDER LIVING HERE, IT IS NOT WORTH THE PRICE OR CONVIENCE
My roommate and I are not resigning our lease because of the maintenance man and the environment surrounding the 40 Bee Street Flats. He over steps boundaries and makes both of us uncomfortable by constantly staring and watching you outside as he lingers in the parking lot on a daily basis while also littering his cigarettes into the parking lot drain. He makes the apartment complex hostile and uncomfortable in a place that I call my home. He even questions and scares my guests about their reason for being there. It is not a good environment for someone to live in. I am a reasonable person and understand there are rules, and they maintain the order of the apartment complex. It is the way in which they go about it that does not settle well with me. Parking: You are offered only one parking pass as a resident even though the apartments are typically two people. However, there are always plenty of extra parking spots available. When I inquired about a second pass, the manager informed me that it is $100 per month. If you are the resident without a parking pass, forget trying to quickly drop groceries or anything off at your apartment before going to park EVEN if you are in a guest spot. While the maintenance man is lingering, he will harass you and threaten to tow you. I have seen him call the towing company on multiple people - residents included. Before I knew that I wasn't allowed in the guest spots, he left an abrasive handwritten note on my car with a strong adhesive saying he gave my information to the tow company insuring I can never come into my own apartment's parking lot again (even to drop something off before parking) Apartment: The maintenance man is rude if you try to ask him any questions or need any help in your apartment. If you are at home when he knocks on your door (sounds like he's banging it down and inevitably will make your heart stop), you have about 5 seconds to run and open the door for him or else he will open it with his own set of keys. This for one is frightening and uneasy. Once he is inside, he is rude, will boss you around to move furniture (without offering to help) so he can do whatever he is there to do. I waited to write this review because I wanted to make sure that I was not just taking it personally. After speaking with several other residents and former residents as well as reading the other reviews, this seems to be a common opinion.
