The more affordable, less crowded neighborhood of South Emerson may not be experiencing the same boom as the neighborhoods to its north and east, but residents like it that way. It's quieter here, family-friendly, and safe. It retains its small-town feel, even though it is in the heart of the fastest-growing metro areas in the US. Located just 10 miles southeast of Downtown Indianapolis, residents can quickly reach the city's museums, theaters, sports venues, restaurants, and more.

Property Ratings at Ninth Avenue Apartments
Everyone who has left previous reviews is entitled to their own opinion, but honestly if you do your research and really plan your move, it’s incredibly easy to fall in love with 9th Ave. it’s clean, quiet, and the staff go above and beyond. I couldn’t dream of anything better after spending the last 10 years in a place that was wearing down mine and my families mental health! The apartments and the complex are gorgeous! Updated living spaces and they continue to make improvements as they continue to grow. To also be in an apartment complex with so much grass is great for dogs and families. Thank you to the 9th Ave team!
Do not live here. The entire apartment complex reeks of weed, there are spiders & other bugs all over the apartment (& dog hair from a previous owner), and the space was not cleaned before I moved in. Definitely not worth what I'm paying, & I'll be moving out soon.
The way that management runs this property is the worst I have experienced by far! Zero communication and when they do, the information is wrong. They will screw you over.
terrible experience here, when it’s time to move out.. i tried to transfer they accepted my transfer took my money and then move out day they called me and denied my transfer. they wouldn’t even wanna give me my deposit back right away they made me wait 35 days. and then when i got my check back they only gave me half of what was owed to me. the women in the office have no idea what there doing. there not willing to help. they will take your money and talk in circles and are no help. i left my apartment clean smelling like bleach steamed cleaned the rugs and everything and they somehow charged me another 750 for “ excessive cleaning”. do not waste your money coming here. i’ve lost so much money with them and they don’t explain clearly where that money is that is owed
My one-bedroom apartment at Ninth Avenue has been great so far! The biggest pro is the amount of storage offered (closets, cabinets, just tons of space). The appliances are pretty nice and the kitchen looks amazing. In terms of the neighborhood, it's pretty safe- there are often people walking dogs and I haven't had any major issues yet. Convenience/grocery stores are also only a mile or two away. A con is that there is paint chipping on a lot of the floorboards and around the apartment. Not noticeable enough to make a huge difference though. Overall a great first apartment for someone who likes their space!
Rent is too high and keeps going up,late fees are outrageous and start on the 3rd,terrible place to live.
I moved in when this was Beech Grove Village. When the complex was sold, they started updating apartments, which was needed, but has caused continued problems for residents. With updates that they are doing, you lose dining room area space, cabinet space in the kitchen, and no cabinet space in the bathroom. Once current residents leases are up and they have to move out, they are charging cleaning fees for items that are going to be removed from the old apartments (stoves, fridge, sinks, toliets), knowing full well that the apartment will be torn apart and remodeled. Their new rental prices appear to be higher than other local apartments. Better to look at other places with amenities that are useful for a family.
This property was relatively decent when it was BGV. Ever since Ardizzone purchased the property in May 2021 it has been a nightmare for the loyal residents who lived there for, some on them, decades. Yes, repairs and needed updates took place, however, not enough to nearly double the rent. (Nevermind we were in the middle of a global pandemic and economic downturn.) Knowing the majority tenants would be forced to move they proceeded with their updates with no consideration and acknowledgement that people would be FORCED FROM THIER HOMES while construction workers took over. That is what Ardizzone considers is appropriate treatment of people who paid their rent. Interestingly, none of the photos on this page are photos from the actual property. I wonder why that is?
I moved here in May 2021 when 9th Ave apartments Beech Grove Village. I was not allowed an in person tour due to Covid, so I was told I could get a virtual tour but when I tried I could not and there weren't any pictures displayed on the website. Beech Grove Village had an infestation of roaches I found a couple in my apartment; im a clean person and i never grew up having roaches in any household i lived in; then beech Grove Village went under new management now it's called 9th Ave., Apartments. The renovations kept me up all the time in the morning and I worked night shift so that was the only time I would get sleep but I couldn't because the renovation people were so loud and the office did nothing about when I contacted them about it. Then they sent me a letter saying that I couldn't re-sign my lease because they were going to be renovating my apartment and it was also messed up that they didn't provide me any vacant units. Then this past winter my HVAC was broken which caused my heat to blow very low so I did not feel the heat, and before I knew this was happening I kept turning that heat up which caused my bill to be super high. When I requested a maintenance man to check it he confirmed that the HVAC was broken, I called the electric company (aes) to see what I could do about the bill and they told me that the leasing office could work with them to reimburse me for what I shouldn't have paid because of my broken HVAC, but management did not bulge; they didn't even give me an option to pay less in rent the following month to reimburse me. They don't answer the phone and barely do callbacks. These people do not care about their residence they're just money hungry.
The neighborhood is extremely loud. A neighboring apartment complex seems to house several muffler removal enthusiasts. The buildings at 9th Avenue are arranged in a U-shape facing busy roads, and bedrooms are in the back, so all traffic sounds and noises from neighboring areas get trapped in the U shape of the building and sent straight to your bed. However, barring the noises of the neighborhood, 9th Avenue Apartments has been under renovations for more than a year. They didn’t wait to lend apartments until the renovations are finished. In fact, my wife and I were led to believe that the renovations are complete. We realized the falsity of this impression when our adjacent neighbors moved out and renovations began taking place at 9 AM — without warning. Banging on the windowsills right beside our windows so loud that it sounds like gunshots, so loud that my cats flee the bedroom, without warning. Use of power tools and hammering on walls connected to my apartment, without warning. And it may not have been such an issue if we were merely informed that loud renovations would be taking place. Luckily for them, my wife and I only have severe anxiety disorders and we’re not veterans with PTSD. The handbook goes at length to speak on how “9th Avenue Community” will be treated well and given courtesy notifications and etc. but when the time comes, there’s only shock and fear as we’re woken up unexpectedly by the sounds of knocking, banging, and gunshot-like hammering without any prior warning.
I've lived at the apartment complex for 2 years. My apartment was recently renovated with lovely upgrades that included a new washer and dryer set. The complex is well maintained and located in a good location. Management is prompt with maintenance issues.
These apartments are great with walk in closets and the upgrades they are doing is wonderful. The location is so closet to the intestates and you can be anywhere within minutes. I love they are renovating with washer/dryers in the apartments and new appliances too. The office staff is very caring and so helpful and courteous, which is hard to find these days! I give them a 5 stars for excellent service!

I have been here for just over a year. It is hands down the best apt complex I have ever lived in . Office staff is honest, fair and does not put up with rif raf . My apt is very very well maintained and the heat is free. They also have gas stoves which you can never find in an apartment. They also have community activities if you care to join in . I LOVE my apartment ! The laundry room & storage is in the building so convenient . Thank you Beech Grove Apts .. Keep up the good work !!

My favorite part of our apartment is our spacey closet. It is a walk in with a ton of storage space. Management has been very easy to work with. They are very courteous and take the time to know their renters. It is a very quiet complex, and all of our neighbors have been respectful. The maintenance team is awesome as well. They come quickly and have always solved the problems in a satisfactory manner.
