West Ashley sits within the city of Charleston and is west of the Ashley River, hence its name, and is the birthplace of Hootie & the Blowfish’s frontman, Darius Rucker. Lined with mossy oaks, the Ashley and Stono Rivers border West Ashley, creating the breathtaking scenery for which Charleston is known. West Ashley residents enjoy close proximity to the area's only indoor mall, the Citadel Mall, and a large number of big-box stores.
Situated seven miles due west of Downtown Charleston, residents can plan on a 15- to 30-minute drive, depending on traffic, to take in all downtown has to offer. Nearby Interstate 526, which feeds directly into Charleston’s Interstate Highway 26, gives residents a fast and easy route in and out of area. Mid- to late-1900s ranch-style homes characterize the housing in outer West Ashley, but neighborhoods built in the 2000s also sprinkle the area.

Property Ratings at Bees Ferry
Caution! The office staff is very dishonest. I had to early terminate my lease. They did not send my final statement for almost two months, block me from the portal to pay, told me to mail the payment by a certain date, then in another email said oops we already sent it to collections but you have 65 days to pay them before they report to credit agency. Nope it got reported. Again the office staff tells me they will investigate with the collections agency in yet another email. I call the collection agency and they said it was given to them before I was even given the final statement. I have tried calling FCAManagent who is over these liars and absolutely no one is responding. I am reporting this to HUD and taking legal recourse. Avoid this complex and anything managed by FCA.

My husband and I have lived here for only a few weeks now, but since touring the complex, we’ve been shown how great this community is. All of our neighbors are so welcoming and nice. The staff has been communicative and have helped with any questions/concerns we’ve had. I look forward to the rest of our lease term!

Welcome to Bees Ferry! We are ecstatic you have decided on our community as your new home and look forward to seeing you at our upcoming resident events!
I really like the people and the opportuniess to socialize, I do not like how over 3 yrs here or rent increased this yr by 20% YET THE LANDSCAPING HAS GONE TO CRAP. Fire US LAWNS yesterday or make them do the job right. Grills have not worked since memorial day and writing on grills counter by the lake say "Clean me!" since memorial day. So sad. Someone from management needs to actually walk the grounds and inspect. Obviously that is not being done.

All of the items listed are items which we are currently working on. We hear you, and are aware of those areas that need improvement. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the end of this month of many of the improvements we have in store for our lovely community.
Loved the move in process, we have had such a wonderful experience so far with everything! The staff is so helpful, they have addressed everything that we could need and are so approachable! Feels like such a close community!

Thank you SO much for the positive feedback and for choosing Bees Ferry as your home! We hope to see you at the upcoming events!
I moved to the Bees Ferry Apartments this year and have been very pleased with the apartment, the grounds and especially the fantastic service and help from Laura. The residents here are very friendly. The Bees Ferry is great if you have dogs. Lots of treed walking paths and a fenced off leash area. The apartments are aging well and my apartment was freshly painted before I moving in along with new hardwood being installed. I throughly recommend the Bees Ferry. Paul
Management threw away our belongings that we were moving two days prior to the lease ending. We always paid our bills on time, and gave them an intent to vacate. In addition, they did not meet our reasonable demand letter or fix the AC for over two weeks prior. I would not recommend FCA management or the staff at Bee's Ferry Apartments to anyone.
The owner has recently changed management companies and things have gone downhill. They do not take care of landscaping, they don't clean the exterior/public areas very well and you cannot get maintenance to care of things. DON'T MOVE HERE, DON'T RENT HERE!!!
Worst Apartment Complex I have ever had to deal with. The management at this place is awful and will find and do anything they can to screw you over. The apartments are falling apart, it feels like every other day maintenance is barging in to 'check' something. Parking is a nightmare. I am tired of hearing my neighbor next to me get up in the middle of the night to go pee and me being able to hear it. When I left finally, I was told to clean the place out in order to get my security deposit back, and having being in the military for a number of years I am very good at cleaning out a space. However, they will sit on their butts for more than a month before getting back to you after you leave and then claim that every part of the apartment is dirty and deny you any sort of deposit back, these people are scum and handle this place terribly. If you are even thinking of a place like this, please just speed up and get out before its to late.
Beware of the new appliances and interior decorating, this place is TERRIBLY managed. We had several problems at this community and since moving out have noticed what an inconvenience it truly was to live there. 1) Management is terrible, they made consistent and frequent errors in our account activity. Their staff is incompetent and will make errors with your money. An unreliable staff that rarely ever answers the telephone is a big problem. 2) Maintenance is non existent. There was a crucial street light out near my apartment building for over 4 months. Although several requests were made by me and my neighbors nothing was done by the office to remedy this. 3) Parking looks ample but is terrible for anyone with a regular job who gets home after 6pm. I frequently had to park 2-3 buildings away from my place. 4) The dog park is depressing, it is basically a fenced in area of dirt, mud and dog feces. No grass. 5) No one ever empties the dog trash can areas, always piled up and very smelly. There are many cons to this place.. too many to want to spend your money here. But the ultimate reason I will not live here again is management. The office is staffed by incompetent people who cannot keep track of their resident accounts with basic math. Also, once you move out it will be nearly impossible to get your security deposit because the office will lose track of your information or simply never get back to you unless you hassle them daily. An unprofessional staff that is almost impossible to reach and unable to help its residents is a shame, because the apartments themselves are nice. The problem here is that nice apartments are everywhere these days, you can find several new apartment complexes with impressive appliances and fancy marble countertops. I suggest you go find someplace else to live where they will appreciate your business and take care of you as a resident.
While this place looks nice, there are many problems. When we moved here, no one from the office came with us to see the apartment , upon opening the door there was a horrible odor, maintence did pretty much nothing to remedy this,But if you leave your windows open for three months and put a plug in every outlet, it will go away. a leak in the master bathroom which has been going on for over four months now, still hasn't been fixed and one wall is covered in white patching, Garbage which we were told was no issue yet you're stuck looking at old discarded mattresses etc. for weeks sometimes. The breezeway which we were also told was going to be cleaned has yet to be touched either. and while there is parking, if you come home late you pretty much won't get a spot near your apartment. A very big disappointment as all we were looking for was someplace clean and quiet, At least it is quiet in that we have nice neighbors.
I have lived here since they opened and I LOVE IT. This is the best place to live in charleston (I have lived in charleston my whole life).
While the nice photos online may initially draw you to these apartments, I would urge you to keep looking. The staff at Bee's Ferry are great at selling their property, but that's about it. On top of the price they show online, expect to add at least another $200 on top of that monthly. There's a valet trash service you are forced to pay for because its not possible for you to choose to take out your own like normal Americans. This service is provided by college students who will leave your trash on your doorstep if there's too many bags. I should also note that they only come Sun-Thursday so don't expect your weekend trash to be picked up if it's more than 2 bags. the built in charge for ATT&T U-Verse which has the worse service all around. It took them over 2 weeks to get our service installed to an apartment that was already pre-wired for their services. The staff at Bees Ferry said it was out of their control, but this is the company they chose to provide their customer's services. They'll show you the beautiful pool and hot tub, which is always broken, and that closes when the sun goes down. They'll also show you the grilling area which you also aren't allowed to use after dark because it's by the pool. And some of you may be thinking that those rules may not be enforced very strictly but I will tell you that living in this apartment complex was worse than living with an RA in a college dorm room. Actually, it was worse than every RA I ever had in a college dorm. They market as a pet friendly community but please be prepared to pay heavily when you go to move out. While the apartments are beautiful, they don't expect you to actually live in them but merely use them as a museum for your belongings and your pets will not fit in to that model. The dog park on site is always muddy and they'll send you letters about dog waste but their outdoor containers are always out of baggies and the trash cans next to them are always full. Basically, save your $1,500 a month and rent a house or look at the apartment complex less than half a mile up Bees Ferry Road which is also brand new. Don't be fooled by the granite countertops or the aesthetics here because you will undoubtedly regret it.
Amazing, gorgeous, home. These new apartments are spacious and offer the top of the line amenities. Marble counter tops, 9 ft ceilings, screened porches, walk-in closets, and beautiful bathrooms. Sparkling pool with outdoor seating and grills, fully equipped gym and friendly staff. The team at this location is always so helpful and quick to service whenever needed. Best living experience I've had in 5 years.
Having just relocated to Charleston after 4 years in North Carolina, I can say that Bees Ferry is located in the best spot in the area for newcomers. West Ashley (the western side of Charleston) is the perfect place to live when first moving to Charleston, because it is a quiet, beautiful area in the center of everything, without paying the inflated prices of many other nearby locations. It is a short drive to downtown, shopping in North Charleston, and gorgeous scenery in Mount Pleasant. Prior to Bees Ferry, I have lived in 3 apartments, and without a doubt, the management, maintenance, amenities, and overall quality of living has proved to be the best at Bees Ferry. With luxuries such as fountains and a tanning shelf in the salt-water pool, the hot tub, multiple pool tables, 24-hour gym, movie theater, dog park, nature trail, and nothing-but-friendly neighbors, you'll feel as thought you're living like a rock star (without paying nearly as much).
As a recent grad and Charleston transplant, who's done a fair amount of looking around, I can say the amenities at Bees Ferry are hard to beat. The outdoor space features well-lit courtyards, walking paths, and even the occasional food-truck or local farmers market. At the clubhouse, you'll find a swimming pool, hot tub, grilling area, big gym, pool tables, public WiFi, and a home theater room to play your blue-rays or watch the game. The outstanding common areas are complemented by professional staff who know how to take care of their residents and the property. So far, I'm very impressed by the management here. The apartments themselves are quite spacious and feature new stainless steel appliances and washer/dryer. If you're looking for a good place to live just a short ride from Charleston-proper, Bees Ferry is a safe pick!
