I held a total of four leases for Weinstein Properties. 3 at their location closer to the Arboretum here in Charlotte and 1 at Steelecroft. This apartment was awful through and through. Upon move in I was taken aback by how outdated the apartment was. Then came the toilet - mold in the tank and the toilet had a leak! This should tell you proper check out procedures or turn over check lists don't exist or are not enforced. Then came the noise. I had two different tenants above me during my lease. I have left videos on their Facebook if you would like to see a glimpse of what I had to endure. From being able to hear the neighbors drawer gliders, flicking light switches, sneezing, and EVERY SINGLE STEP, I was going insane. The creaking wood between the floors sounded similar to a door frame being busted open. As one can imagine living alone and hearing loud enough sounds that resemble break-ins I had trouble sleeping. The noise was so obvious that when the third party came out to fix my dryer switch. He even asked me what he was hearing. The leasing office suggestion: get a noise machine that's what everyone else does. I lived on the second floor, never again will I willingly choose to have neighbor above me. I did not have a noise issue the entire 3 years at their sister property. At that property I lived on the ground floor. Judging by the rental rates on this site, I cannot image paying that much for a unit as outdated as mine was. Now for the positives - 2 pools, so you don't have to necessarily squeeze in, although not maintained regularly while I was there. My unit had a linen closet in the bathroom and a coat closet which helps a ton with storage. Screened in porch was nice for bugs but was harder to keep clean.
While the apartment itself isn't bad. The service leaves a lot to be desired. Several unexpected fees were charged to my account upon returning my keys to the leasing office. The manager Beth refused to remove these charges despite one of the leasing associates saying they'd be removed. Very disappointed in their dishonesty regarding this. Not sure if I can recommend living here based on this experience alone despite the living environment itself.

Maybe a year or two ago this complex used to be good, not anymore. I do not know how to start, but two of their major issues are safety and cleaning. The grounds of this complex are estremely dirty, specially the hallways and the pool area. This issue is regularly reported to the office, but nothing is done. They just say it would be done, but nothing happens. Pressure wash was promised a year ago, still nothing. Several car break-ins had been reported. A package was stolen from my front door. People jumping the back fence and some crowd hanging late at night. Everything has been reported to management, but they denied it. Please do not move here, the prices are not worth it. Stop calling this luxury.

In addition, through our discussions, we were able to explain that our package locker system accepts all resident packages. Unfortunately, in this particular instance, the carrier delivered the package to your front door instead of putting it in one of our secure lockers. If you do witness anything suspicious or out of the ordinary after-hours, please contact our After Hours Community attendant. Your feedback is very much appreciated and we will be sure to take your comments into consideration as we look at areas of improvement. I paid my rent either early or on time every month. When I chose to move from this apartment complex I submitted over a 60 day notice informing the leasing office of my departure. The last two months of my lease were March and April of 2016. Due to my hectic life and having some time off at Easter I moved my belongings out of the apartment at the end of March. After moving out I called the leasing office to let them know I had moved my furniture out and that I no longer needed the washer and dryer in my apartment. The leasing office stated they would take care of the situation. I always paid my rent online at this complex. A few days after moving out I went to pay my rent for my last month-April 2016-and the system said I owe $0.00 rent. I then proceeded to call the leasing office to verify this information and was told my apartment had been rented, I needed to switch the utilities out of my name immediately, and that I did not owe anymore rent. Due to being out of town for the next 10 days for work I was advised to mail my keys to the office and to include my apartment address and move out date with the keys. I did this. I also immediately called to switch my utilities out of my name, as advised by the complex, and this had already been done by the leasing office. I did not have access to my apartment at anytime during April 2016. Over 30 days later I receive a call from the corporate office stating I now owe my last month's rent. The call came from the "collections" department. I consider myself a professional and have always paid my bills on time. To say the least this was both embarrassing and frustrating. I then call the property manager at Bexley Steelecroft in Charlotte to discuss what is going on and she basically laughs off everything I am telling her. She advises to me that she will call me back as soon as she looks into the situation. After multiple phone calls and attempts to reach her she still has not called me back weeks later. I even called the regional property manager and she too failed to return my telephone call. I have however, received more phone calls from their collections department. I went ahead and paid the last month's rent because I don't want this showing on my credit report. I was treated highly unfairly in this situation. I simply want to warn anyone in the future to look elsewhere when considering this complex.

I cannot begin to praise this property and its staff enough; especially the staff. This morning my keys got entangled in the handle ties of my trashbag as I threw it into the trash compactor. My car was locked, dog inside, and the keys to everything I owned were in the compactor. Lesley and Brittany came from the office in their dress clothes to my rescue. Lesley literally shimmied her way down into the shute while being held by her legs by Brittany and myself and was able to grab the keys. People, you don't see this kind of "Good Samaritan" acts of kindness anywhere!!!!!! They went BEYOND the call of duty to help someone in need. I feel so blessed to be a part of such a great community with such caring people. It doesn't seem enough, but thank you Lesley and Brittany from the bottom of my heart.

This complex building is right in the center of all your needs. It has great restaurants and other eateries, lots of retail grocery stores and plenty of other services. The staff is helpful and likeable. The grounds are maintained on a daily basis. It also has a large courtyard with pool and large TV screen right outside. The exercise room has plenty of equipment for a victorious workout. Thank You! Sharon Stepney
I moved to this complex when it was new. The landscaping was beautiful and I felt safe. I'm moving out in November. We've had several car break ins, even at least one person was hit while going into their apt at nite. The trash compactor is often over flowing, the stairs and breeze ways are dirty. Parking is ridiculous.
I'm on month 7 of my 8 month lease. I will not be renewing because I want to move closer to Uptown to be near friends and family; otherwise I would definitely renew. I have no issues with this complex, it's a great place to live. Relatively safe and quiet. One small maintenance issue that was tended to quickly & correctly. Sidewalks are very well lit at night, I feel safe walking my dog after dark. The complex is close to EVERYTHING you could possibly need: Super Target, Harris Teeter/Publix, restaurants, shopping. I currently rent the Biltmore floor plan that is a great size for the price & especially for just 1 person. I'm on the 2nd floor & do hear my neighbors walking but that's normal for apartment living. I'd recommend this complex to anyone!

From the time you check out the complex, move in and begin living at Bexley Steelecroft...you know you're home! They are on top of all maintenance requests and/or any other requests/issues you may have. The up to date fixtures and floor plans make you feel like you're in a brand new apartment! The grounds are kept clean and are spectacular and having 2 pools is a treat! I highly recommend to anyone looking in the CLT area to consider this complex. It's a short drive to anywhere in CLT!
