If your idea of a great lunch is a Rueben sandwich and a beer, you'll love Omaha's Blackstone District. This is where the classic sandwich was first created, back in the 1920s, and where you can still sample the original at Crescent Moon (which also happens to be one of America's Top 100 Beer Bars four years running). Speaking of Beer, the Blackstone District is home to several famous breweries, including Farnam House Brewing and beer halls like Huber Haus.
Aside from the Blackstone District's great food and beer, this neighborhood is highly walkable and filled with historic and trendy warehouses converted into lofts. Dating back to around 1880, the Blackstone District has always been an Omaha favorite, even earning the nickname "Gold coast" in the 1920s. Your Blackstone apartment will place you on the east side of downtown, directly south of Midtown.

Property Ratings at Blackstone Corner
Getting a tour at this complex was extremely complicated. The first tour we scheduled got canceled the day of (without reason), after we drove an hour to Omaha to see it. For the second tour we scheduled, the woman who was giving us the tour arrived 30 minutes late without apology. We had to call the management company several times to figure out when she would arrive and let us inside. The tour lasted a whole 5 minutes and was very unprofessional. The woman giving us the tour did not ask if we had questions and was rushing through like she had better things to do. Lastly, the hallways did not smell clean and the lobby had a wig on one of the tables which was disgusting. Overall, it was a very frustrating and unprofessional experience here. Safe to say we will NOT be staying in the Blackstone district.
This place is loud 24/7. Whether it be loud residents, parties in the courtyard, the food hall below the complex, the street noise or the crescent moon, there are very few calm and quiet nights. Generally, complaints to management need to be escalated 2, 3 and sometimes 4 times before they are addressed. Even then, they’re sometimes ignored completely. The complex is managed by a leasing company with properties all over, so there is no direct staff on site unless they are doing a tour. It is hard to track down people to reach out to if you have issues and you’re usually talked down to or made to feel like you’re doing something wrong by contacting them. The apartments have had a lot of issues with leaking water, that often is fixed by patching the ceiling but not actually addressing the source of the leak. It is a cheaply made building managed by people who are even cheaper. There are many better properties in town to live that are managed by companies and people who care. Unfortunately, this is not one of those places.
