Marshall is a charming and secluded small city in southwestern Minnesota. The city is best known as the home of Southwest Minnesota State University, whose campus on the northeast side of town serves around 4,000 students and employs hundreds of locals as faculty and staff members. On the east side of campus, Red Baron Arena is the city’s most active events center, hosting everything from ice hockey to trade shows throughout the year.
Downtown Marshall features a thriving collective of restaurants, specialty shops, bars, and other storefront businesses occupying the historic buildings along Main Street: Grab you morning coffee at Daily Grind, head down to Wooden Nickel for a burger at lunchtime, or cap of the evening with a cocktail at The Gambler.

Property Ratings at Block 100
But that's a super low bar. There isn't a roach infestation like a lot of the other apartments in this town, but there's still a lot of really baffling issues with the apartment. It's really weirdly designed to the point where I'm not sure whoever created the layout has ever actually lived in an apartment building, you have a lot of wasted space just because there's a weird closet (with no doors) in the bedroom, or a single stall shower that's smaller than your enormous bathroom closet. That also doesn't come with any shower bar so you can't hang a curtain (they suggest you buy one, because why would the building just have that?) There's fiber optic internet, but the hook up is in a small (what I assume) is supposed to be a coat closet, right next to the front door, that's too small for a desk so you have to always use wifi. Not the worst, but it's a good example for how weird the design is. Beyond that the biggest issue with the building is that it gets really weirdly humid, and there doesn't really seem to be any desire by the management to fix that. I use my towels in the morning, wake up the next, and they'll still be wet. My laundry takes multiple drying cycles (somehow), and the HVAC grating in the bedroom is straight up rusting after only a few months of use. This is all apparently how it's just supposed to be, as it's been brought up to the management, but nothing has been done about it. It's not an issue now, but if you're looking at an apartment a year or two after this review was posted, you need to do your due diligence and really look for mold, as that'll be a huge issue.
