Property Ratings at Block 36
You get what you pay for with this complex. The unit was in poor shape during move-in with multiple broken items and uncleaned. During move out was charged for items that were damaged by previous tenants. The staff is nice which is a plus and there are good amenities but with how much they have raised rent I would recommend looking somewhere else where you get better quality for your money.

Great place to live! Love that the apartments are fully furnished and that everyone gets their own bedroom and bathroom. Rooms are very spacious and private. The office staff is great and the maintenance team is always friendly and completes our work orders quickly!

We work very hard to make sure the appreciation in your review is felt by the whole community. This review just means the world to our team - thank you!!
This property is extremely affordable, and it has the whole package deal! All-inclusive amenities are my favorite. The bedroom sizes are great, and it’s one of my top choices on the outskirts of East Lansing!

Affordability is an ever-elusive thing in this market, so we're glad that you're happy with the rates offered! Thanks for the amazing feedback about our home in East Lansing.
Many people think that it is a bad thing to be further from the MSU campus, but I personally love it! It makes for a calm and quiet community. I also love that all of the amenities are very central in the community. PLUS the spacious walk-in closets are SO nice for all of my clothes!

A calm and quiet community is EXACTLY what we strive to create here! Thanks for commenting on how you appreciate the short-but-existent distance from campus, and what it offers your lifestyle. :)
This is a classic case of “you get what you pay for.” The rent is inexpensive, but I am going to be paying more to live somewhere else at the end of my lease. I have had my car broken into several times after a year of living here, and so have many others. This has been brought to staffs attention multiple times, but our “security” has done nothing to catch them which is weird bc it happens weekly and I’m sure is a resident of Block 36 going around at night breaking in. The internet is terrible and unreliable, which is especially bad if you’re a college student trying to do schoolwork. A roommate of mine had to do her job from home due to Covid, and she eventually had to work with her manager to get back in the office because she simply couldn’t do her job here with the lack of internet. Multiple reports of cockroaches from building 5, trash valet service is unreliable, and because of that the hallways always smell like garbage. My biggest pet peeve of all is the front door lock/ key card system that seems to go down every other month. They don’t email/call you when the buildings lock stops working, so my roommate came home at 3am with no working key card and since the leasing office was closed and couldnt reprogram her card, she had to find other sleeping arrangements at 3am. There is always fighting and yelling outside, and reports of strange men walking up to girls apartments and trying to force their way in. The only good thing about this place is the maintenance, I’ve found them to be very respectful when walking around our unit and they always triple knock before coming in. Brianna in the leasing office is great and very nice/helpful. I wish there were more good things to say because the apartments are cute enough, but I feel overall unsafe here with the amount of car break ins and weird activity that happens at night outside/inside the buildings. If I could say 1 thing to Block 36 it would be to put cameras on the front and back of every building, that way the next time someone reports a car break in, you guys will be able to catch and evict them so people don’t continue to feel unsafe here.

Hey Taylor, our general manager Mackenzie has attempted to reach out to you to discuss your review in more depth than we can provide with this response. Would you please give her a call back when you have a moment? You can also email her at mwaldrop@block-36.com. Thanks, Taylor. We hope to provide you with some of the answers and solutions you need asap.
Everybody who works here is incredibly rude and mean. They do not care about you AT ALL, even the landlord. Stone and the maintenance crew are the only nice people who work here. They actually care about you and listen to your problems. Speaking to other workers, including Victoria, she was incredibly mean, rude, sarcastic, and unbelievable. There was an issue that WAS NOT CAUSED BY ME OR MY ROOMMATES, and they still blamed us and make us pay for that issue. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND NEVER LIVE HERE. Yeah it's "cheap" but for what they put you through... it's terrible. The apartments are also horrendous and are basically falling apart. I don't want to be a "Karen," but I am in shock over how I have been treated here for the past year.

The experience living in this place has been absolutely horrible. We had a roommate placed with us unannounced who smoked marijuana in the apartment. The units are nothing like they show on the website. They plain and dated. My unit was not clean on move-in there was dog kibble and hair on the floor. The carpet in our apartment is filthy and leaves your socks brown after walking on it. The worst experience by far was in the winter when our pipes in the apartment (we live on the 3rd floor) repeatedly froze due to cold temperatures. The landlord placed a commercial heater in our apartment, and plug it into our outlets AT OUR COST. Additionally, maintenance turned up the heat to 80 DEGREES without our consent. We had to wear shorts and flip flops in the mid of winter because we were sweating! This came after maintenance unlocked and walked in on our individual rooms unannounced on two occasions. The landlord did not even offer to pay for the additional expenses until we contacted them. Even after contacting them, the landlord only agreed to pay half of the additional costs based on our previous utility bills in the form of GIFT CARDS. What kind of professional company/property reimburses customers in the form of GIFT CARD???? I will not be staying at this property after this semester and would not recommend ANYONE to stay here. The only good thing about this property is the inexpensive rent, but this is a classic case of "you pay for what you get". Extra cheap rent yield to totally unprofessional landlord, and definitely not "luxury" apartments. P.s: This place has super inconvenient key cards to access to building that are easily-lost and they will charge you a ridiculous $50 to replace. Take your money and spend it on a different property. I have lived here for 3 years so far and the new management company is great! They have updated the study lounge which is 24 hours, has whiteboard walls, and has a 24 hour coffee bar! The private study rooms are great for focusing. They have a really good roommate matching program (I moved in knowing no one) I get along really well with my other roommates and we love going to their events. There is always free food or something going on in the office. I highly recommend block 36

What an incredible survey of what Block 36 has to offer to residents. We can't thank you enough for being so involved and a part of our community!
I love the staff, having my own bathroom, a free bus pass, pet friendly, monthly events. It is reasonable rent and they have roommate matching.
Property Manager at Block 36, Responded To This Review
So well put! Making us blush with the staff comment, too. ;) Than you so much for choosing our complex!
Rent is cheap and the apartment layout is nice (four people per apartment with each person having a good-sized private room and private bathroom). They have a nice lobby/center with a gym/outdoor pool and it's on the bus route (they give you a bus pass). However, they charge a convenience fee for paying rent online, and their website can be difficult to understand/navigate. The internet SUCKS and we are definitely charged for it so not sure why it is so terrible. It goes out at least 5 times a day and that's not just wifi. Using an ethernet cable you have the same problem. Very inconvenient if you are a student and are trying to study. Overall the apartment lives up to the cheap rent. The prices at Chandler Crossings are the same and you have the same apartment layouts and a lot more amenities, so you might be better off living there.
I have been a resident at block 36 for almost 2 years now and have renewed my lease for a third! The roommate matching service was great as I went into the four bedroom apartment only knowing one of my roommates. The Staff is amazing they seem like they really care and are super personable and remember me every time I walk through the office. The management company changed during the summer and its been amazing since then! They are doing several events every month and everything has been running way smoother with communication from office and maintenance is fantastic! If you're looking for a cheap apartment where you will be happy this is the place for you!
Block 36 has been the best apartment living experience I could've asked for. I have lived here for 3 years now and it's been great. They have an awesome roommate matching service and very friendly staff. The amenities are awesome too!
Last year as we shopped for apartments for my son we came across Block 36 (formally The Point @3636). I must admit that based upon prior feedback, I was a bit uneasy with this prospect. However, I was also aware that the complex was under new management and appeared to be very serious about turning things around. After considering all options, we choose to go forward with Block 36. As a parent, I am taking this moment to complement the management and to acknowledge their professionalism in doing exactly as they said. Granted there were some issues with move in, but these items merely gave opportunity for the management to quickly resolve in such a manner as to promote my writing this review. If you are a parent or student that is considering this complex and are hesitant, I would highly recommend disregarding past reviews as they no longer appear to be relevant. I’m very satisfied in choosing Block36.
I visited this property last year and chose to live somewhere else, but visited again recently to see all the new upgrades that I have heard about around town. The clubhouse is beautiful and last week I came to a pool party and saw the new furniture out there. Very comfy! I am excited to be apart of the community this school year!
