Like most downtowns, you'll find walkable streets, terrific shops and restaurants, businesses housed in skyscrapers, and a variety museums and theaters. Unlike most downtowns, you'll also discover the occasional Iditarod, the dancing glow of the northern lights, and perhaps a moose lounging in the town square. Because this is Downtown Anchorage, and things are just a little bit different here.
As the city's central business district, Downtown Anchorage is home to some of the tallest buildings in the state -- the Atwood Building, a square structure of glass, is 20 stories tall. The tallest building in Alaska is the Conoco-Phillips Building, a 22-story structure that features an atrium with a food court and fountain that is open to the public.

Property Ratings at Block 96
I loved my year living in my studio! On top of what is probably one of the best views in Anchorage, I worked just across the street. I was able to walk to work, grocery stores, coffee, dining and entertainment. The heated garage spot was amazing to have. I referred to it as my "Sesame Street" neighborhood with all basic needs within a walking distance. The apartment itself was great too. I am moving on to a cabin home with my girlfriend but will think back very fondly of my year in Block 96.
And here's why: I grew up in Anchorage and have always wanted to live in the city. Block 96 is the first modern apartment complex in decades to be built downtown. I'm so excited and happy to be living here. I actually sold my house when I discovered this place during a trip to Fire Island Bakery right next door. My initial phone call led me to Joseph, the Apartment Manager. His extremely kind, helpful, and friendly demeanor sealed the deal for me. The Developer, Shaun is also awesome. As wonderful as any place can be, it's the Management that sets the tone. They really care and respond quickly to any concerns or inquiries. Block 96 has beautiful views and amenities: 24/7 fitness center, business center, club room with pool table, fireplace, and big-screen TV; secure mailroom, rooftop deck, and elevators. Each unit has a washer/dryer, in-floor radiant heat, Smart technology, and very nice appliances. Right outside there's so many walkable places to enjoy: restaurants, bakeries, wine, coffee, and organic produce shops. The Performing Arts Center, Elderberry Park, and Delaney Park Strip are also nearby. I also feel safe here with 24/7 access to Security service and code-secure doors throughout the complex. With floor-to-ceiling windows, Block 96 is a place where I feel happy living in a room filled with sky!
