However, its distinctive four seasons and sunny, warm summers make up for the wild spring weather. The winters can be cold, but not overly so, with an average temperature of around 29 degrees and an average snowfall of just over 18 inches.
The Topography
While many people enjoy the rolling hills of the plains, it isn’t for everyone. If you’re a water sports enthusiast, living in the Midwest won’t give you many opportunities for water skiing, surfing, or swimming. And while Kansas City is hilly, it isn’t exactly conducive to snow skiing or mountain biking. However, the city has some fantastic parks to explore, including Slope Park and Snow Creek. Slope Park provides hiking trails and a swimming pool, while Snow Creek offers skiing, tubing, and snowboarding on artificial snow.
