Named a Cultural Arts District by the Texas Commission on the Arts, King William is a quaint, artsy neighborhood in San Antonio, Texas. The area’s greatest attraction is the Blue Star Arts Complex, which offers a collection of museums, art galleries, studios, restaurants, and bars. Check out the local and regional contemporary art at Blue Star Contemporary, an industrial space you won’t want to miss.
And after you’ve strolled the gallery, venture over to Blue Star Brewing Company for enticing pub fare, live music, and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy local craft brews. Near the complex are walking and biking trails that offer scenic views along the San Antonio River.

Property Ratings at Blue Star Arts Complex
The only thing you’ll enjoy about Blue Star is it’s location, and even that contributes to its low score at times. Let’s start with maintenance, which is arguably the complex’s lowest point. The units themselves are in poor shape, so expect something to go wrong on a regular basis. When something does, expect at least one month to fix any issue. The maintenance team is spread across multiple different complex’s. I had a ceiling leak for 2 months that would flood my entryway every day. The elevator in the building breaks down almost every month, and isn’t fixed for at least a week every time. When I moved in the elevator was broken, and now it seems when I move out it will be the same. The resident parking lot gate has been broken for over a month as i’m writing this. As i’ve been told, they are currently collecting “bids”. Good luck finding parking any day of the week after 5pm. You’re essentially paying for someone else to have your parking spot. Now onto communication. Good luck reaching the leasing office. It is empty most days, and the phone goes to voicemail automatically during business hours. We have tried to voice concerns about building security, but nothing has been done. Expect wanderers from the bars below to get into the elevator and pee in it or knock on your doors late at night. There are electronic locks on each entry, but they are probably too cheap to get any of them working again. Beware of package thieves, if you can even get delivery drivers to find your unmarked apartment building in the first place. You will not feel safe here. You are not valued as a tenant here. Your time and your property and not valued here. Honestly, if you want to live at Blue Star so bad, do yourself a favor and pick the complex down the street or any of the other homes nearby. I’m sure you’ll have a much better experience!
The only positive thing I have to say about this apartment complex is the location. The actual facilities themselves are poorly maintained. You can tell that management doesn't care about anything but getting their rent. While I lived there, I was constantly asking them to fix the A/C unit and to fix the roof. The roof was constantly leaking water and all they would do is put scotch tape on the roof for a temp fix. The utilities was ridiculous. I'm talking $400 bill per month for a 1,200 square foot loft. Instead of fixing the A/C, all they would do is change out the filter. I had to wait 3 months for them to change a light bulb. I was only there for a year and they went through 3 property managers in that span. That tells you how awful this place is ran. They kept my deposit over dog hair and their busted A/C. The walls and floor was chipped and insulation was terrible. Overall, I wouldn't wish for my worst enemy to live here. That's how bad this place is ran.
Do yourself a favor and do NOT rent these apartments. I lived in the older apartments for a couple of years and wish I hadn’t. To start, the apartments are horribly finished: poorly painted concrete floors, chipping plaster on walls, outdated appliances/fixtures, etc. The heating/HVAC systems are very very old and not well maontained.. utility bills are outrageous all the while you’re left struggling to regulate the temperature in your apt. The maintenance and overall “craftsmanship” is shoddy and destined to fail while you’re a tenant. The common areas are left dirty and I’ll maintained. The units do not have washer/dryer hookups.. and the machines provided (for a fee) are a joke. Overall management in these apartments is lacking to say the least.. I think I saw 4 or 5 different apartment managers come and go during my stay.. which perfectly represents the underlying problems in these apartments. To be fair, the apartments are in a great location — the up and coming blue star arts district. Most of my neighbors were relatively friendly and considerate.. although there was the occasional weekend late night party which could be heard from inside my unit. There are buses nearby for easy use of public transit, and the units are of decent size. All things considered.. do yourself a favor and rent elsewhere. NOT WORTH IT.
I love my layout! Beautiful view and convenient access to nightlife. There is not a better community in Southtown ? Star Workcuff CAM, CAPS
