West Ashley sits within the city of Charleston and is west of the Ashley River, hence its name, and is the birthplace of Hootie & the Blowfish’s frontman, Darius Rucker. Lined with mossy oaks, the Ashley and Stono Rivers border West Ashley, creating the breathtaking scenery for which Charleston is known. Arrived to take a scheduled tour and after walking into the leasing office was waved over to an office and greeted by an employee who remained seated, as if my arrival was an imposition on the employees time. It also appeared that the office had no idea of the scheduled tour. When the employee went to get the keys to the model apartment it turned out the property manager had the keys, was off site, and it would be 10 minutes until they returned. The behavior towards and lack of preparation for a potential tenant signaled to me that Bolton’s Landing Apartments are not concerned with providing good customer service. This made me wonder what their service level to actual tenants is like. Instead of waiting 10 minutes to see the apartment, I had gotten all the information I needed and decided to take my business elsewhere. I hope this review prompts the management team to make improvements in their customer service.

I would just like to say that the reviews that have been left lately on here and elsewhere are very different than the one I’m going to give and the the experiences I’ve had with this property during my time here. While yes, things could have been a little more quick like with the repairs with the compactor when it would break due to incompetent residents, or better lighting on the property. But overall, I’ve enjoyed my tenure here, and things have been fixed in a relatively timely manner. Unfortunately the management has cycled out rather frequently over the years, and that’s something I wish would have been better. But throughout my entire time at the property there was a manager named Chris that was the most friendly, insightful, and helpful with any and all of my needs. When I went to turn in my keys to move out, I was saddened to find out he had moved on from the property. While I feel his absence will be a major loss for the community, I feel confident for current and future residents that the person to replace him will be on par with his work.

There have been multiple shootings with one homicide in the last year. This complex is very dangerous and no security improvements were made by management as promised, even after a man was murdered a few months ago. Garbage overflows and maintenance never gets done.

Bolton's Landing is short on activities sponsored for the children, they also need to be more diligent about making sure that the dog owners poop a scoop!

This apartment complex has almost everything that you could want and need in an apartment. One thing we love is there is always a parking spot and it's never far from our door! The apartments are spacious and perfectly dimensioned. The amenities are awesome including a pool and movie theatre!! The one thing that kind of stinks is there is not much storage space but other than that it is perfect! We love it here! It's quiet and perfect for us! Definitely recommend this place to anyone!

My likes and dislikes about this community are: I always felt safe and the units are beautiful. But a few things irked me: Bolton's Landing touts itself as a "green" community, but they don't even participate in recycling! I stockpiled my newspapers and plastics and drove them to the nearby landfill myself. Also, there seems to be a general sense of apathy when it comes to repairing community amenities, like the washers, dryers and treadmills. It is ridiculous to have only two out of six washers working. I ought to deduct the amount of money I lost on the broken washers from my rent check!

My likes and dislikes about this community are: I gave 30 day notice and sent a full mo. rent after moving. Office stated if someone else moved in I would not have to pay for the next mo. New tennant did move in and the office then stated I had to pay for that month too, because of lease. Wanted me and new tenant to pay for a month. Kept $450.00 the stated I'd be refunded and billed me $450.00.
My likes and dislikes about this community are: 20 mins from nearly everywhere in town. 30 mins from the beach (Kiowa) and 45 from Isle of Palms depending on who is driving. Pet park, pool, and a good place to run or workout. Enjoy the ponds and the wildlife--a perfect combination of woods and palm trees so you know that you are in SC!
My likes and dislikes about this community are: I did like the new feel to our apartment. Paint, counters, and appliances were like new. I did not like the effectiveness of the staff. Often, the staff was more concerned with saving the company money than making sure residents were comfortable.
My likes and dislikes about this community are: The tile in the kitchen was laid incorrectly and we had yard plus long cracks throughout the kitchen after a few months. My boyfriend at the time lived in the same building and they had the same problem with the tile in their kitchen. The cabinets are made of the cheapest possible material and multiple hinges fell off throughout our 2 year stay and the plastic coating on the cabinets began to peal off. Upon move out, the complex charged us for replacing the carpet, annoying, but not that unheard of. However, they sent the claim to collections because they claimed they could never reach us. There were three people on the lease and none of us received a phone call, letter or any form of correspondence until a collection agency called each of us. And oddly enough, I am completing this review because I received an e-mail from the complex asking me to review the property. Weird that they had at the very least my new address, phone number that hasn't changed in 15 years and my e-mail address yet they were unable to reach me regarding our move-out bill. The so-called laundry room constantly had machines out of order. Dryers wouldn't dry, washing machines would not drain and they would leak water all over the floor creating disgusting and unsafe conditions. The community seems like it is nice, but that is only a front to get you into a lease. Parking is also an issue. If you get home from work after seven on a week night, forget about being able to park near your building. I would never live hear again or rent another apartment from the parent company.
