Middleton is a small, wooded city bordering Lake Mendota, roughly four miles northwest of Madison. This beautiful city often makes "best" lists, including Money Magazine's list of the nation's best small cities to live in.
This friendly city (the motto is the "Good Neighbor City," after all) provides ample park space, including the lakeside Marshall Park, which features a beach area, a boat launch, fishing areas, and a playground. Nearby Lakeview Park features a lake, a splash pad, a playground, picnic areas, and walking trails. The city-owned Pleasant View Golf Course is located on a hill with panoramic views of the Madison skyline. During the winter months, it becomes a cross-country ski park.
While Middleton is a smaller city than the neighboring capital, you won't get bored after moving to a Middleton apartment. This city features a great downtown shopping district, roughly 80 restaurants, and a free trolley.

Property Ratings at Boulder Creek Apartments
I lived at Boulder Creek for 5 years and have nothing but positive things to say about the management, maintenance, and buildings. The location is perfect: quiet and secluded, yet close to shopping and restaurants. The rent is extremely reasonable for the Madison area given the amenities. I promise you will not find a better property manager than Susan. The entire property is well maintained from lawn care to snow removal to yearly upkeep. Everything was excellent.
Two wonderful years so far. The apartment is spaciously laid out. It is a quiet wooded area right on the edge of the Driftless Area; nonetheless, the location is wonderful (the Blackhawk neighborhood is a quick, straight drive to downtown Madison, to Epic; or a hop onto the Beltline). Susan is a spectacular property manager -- always cheerful and ready to help.
I've been at Boulder Creek apartments for two years now and I have loved it since the day I moved in. The location is perfect, as it is only a couple minutes from Target, Pick n Save, and other stores. Very close to West Towne, Greenway Station, Middleton, and a bunch of other stores/restaurants. Downtown is only 15 minutes. It's in a tucked away spot, very quiet and peaceful. Great bike trails nearby. The apartments are nice as well. They've done minor updates the past couples years (kitchen, bathroom, decks). I think the interiors & appliances could still use a bit more updating. But the apartments are quiet, I rarely hear my neighbors. The property is kept in great condition and the pool is amazing in the summer. Definitely recommend Boulder Creek Apartments!
I have lived at Boulder Creek for 4 years and lived in a 2 bedroom loft, townhouse and 2 bedroom. Its a quiet neighborhood with quiet neighbors. The management there is amazing! Any maintenance or issues are resolved right away. Site grounds and living quarters are well kept and up to date. Rent is reasonable and they have a nice pool and fitness room. Once your here you don't want to leave!
I've lived in a McKenzie apartment for the last 10 years. I've been at Boulder Creek for six of those years and I love it. Boulder Creek is the perfect location, perfect amount of tenants. Susan is the best property manager, always ready to help and answer any questions I might have. They take great care of their tenants!
Lots to love here!! Awesome west side location close to everything! Clean quiet well maintained units very friendly professional property manager (Susan) and prompt maintenance team nice amenities like outdoor pool workout facility large community room coffee/cocoa bar. Boulder Creek is a great value with exceptional living!
I've lived at Boulder Creek for almost two years and am looking forward to my third! Nice and quiet in a great neighborhood, and the location is excellent, kinda secluded, but still close to everything you might need! Susan is a great property manager, always willing to help answer questions and gets right on top of any service requests. What little work I have needed has been resolved the following day. The apartments are excellent as well, updated, nice layouts, and I can honestly say I rarely if ever hear any noise from my neighbors, the buildings are well built! I'm looking forward to calling this my home for years to come!
Nice and quite place with out any disturbance. Moved here last year and i like this place better than my old one. No complaints regarding the amenities/maintenance as they fix/replace them as soon as you submit a request. It's hard to leave from here after once you get in. Couple of my friends tried to move in here but they couldn't find vacancies. Our apartment manager(Susan) is cool and nice. She tries to resolve the issues right away once she recieves them. If you depend on bus transportation you might need to walk for about 5mns. Pool,Club house and Fitness center are well maintained. Would love more if they have tennis/basket ball courts insdie the apartment community.
I have lived at Boulder Creek for the past nine years and it has been a great experience. This area of Middleton offers many amenities and restaurants in Greenway Station and downtown Middleton. It's very quiet and always feels safe, even walking at night in the neighborhood behind the apartments. Easy access to the Beltline and quick trip to downtown. Susan is an awesome property manager- always responsive, accommodating, and friendly. I have lived in two apartments in two different buildings here and both have been great. Maintenance is quick to respond to calls and there is a very nice pool, club house, and fitness center that are well maintained. The management also hosts a summer party with free food, drinks, and prizes!
A lot to like about Boulder Creek on the far west side of Middleton which saddles the divide between city and countryside. Quiet and safe location west of the Beltine highway. Secure (keypad) entrances. On property apartment manager (Susan) very responsive to requests for service or information. Wonderful clubhouse and pool area. Well-maintained grounds. Nice, well-furnished fitness center with both weight and cardio equipment and two TVs. The management company (McKenzie Apartments) hosts very nice picnics a few times a year for the residents with tons of free food, drink and conversation with fellow residents. One of the last few nice apartments left in Madison with reasonable rent.
I've been here 11 years with every year thinking I'm going to move to something different and a little larger but I stay because of how great I really have it here. Susan, the apartment manager, is the biggest reason. She's AMAZING at her job which is not easy with all the aspects and personalities you have to deal with on a daily basis. I Love her!!!!! Salt of the earth. The maintenance is always done right away and done well. They continue to make improvements to the property and the cost just can't be beat these days for everything you get and the staff here. I have it really good and I'm grateful. Beautiful pines and a great clubhouse too! Thank you Boulder Creek!!!
I have lived at BC for almost 4 years, and i'm so glad i made the decision to do so. Susan, the manager is awesome-- always super helpful! Susan and the maintenance crew are always so nice, helpful and extremely responsive to any requests! Great location, close to the beltline, and not too far from downtown Madison. Also-- the pool is the best during the summer!
I have lived here for two years now and could not be happier. It is incredibly quiet and peaceful, and every resident that I have met has been friendly and courteous. Maintenance items are address promptly and professionally, although I haven't really had anything in need of fixing because the property is so well kept. The clubhouse facilities are great and has the nicest pool area I have seen. The property manager, Susan, is by far the best property manager I've had and is more than pleasant to deal with. For the cost, you will not find a better kept property with as many amenities as Boulder Creek!
We have lived at Boulder Creek for 4 years. Susan Hageman has been incredibly responsive to any questions or requests we have. Boulder Creek keeps the apartments clean and well-maintained, replacing any items that need fixing and constantly making upgrades. Examples from my personal experience include new dishwasher, dryer, roof and deck. The neighborhood is safe and welcoming with walking paths and parks nearby. The apartments are family-friendly and tenants range in age from young professionals to young families to retirees. We could not be more pleased by the attentive service of Susan and the McKenize Apartments staff.
Started here single in a one bedroom, now have a family and moved to a two bedroom loft...I love the location, the neighbors are great, management is on top of the property and the needs of the tenants. Maintenance is always very prompt and respectful. The grounds and buildings are kept clean and very well maintained! When a request is made, they usually are completed same day. Susan the manager is on top of getting things taken care of! I see my family here for years to come!!
I moved in 14 years ago and have never wanted to live elsewhere. I've lived in a 1 br, 1 br loft with den and now have a town house for the past 12 years. The management is perfection! They are fixing a problem same day most times and are happy to do it. The units are kept up to date with renovations. The grounds are well kept and there are no people hanging out or doing car repairs. Very quiet and the residents are respectful of each other. I never expected to live here this long but it's so nice and managed so well, why would I move? All of the McKenzie properties are like this. I highly recommend the McKenzie life!
