The far southwest suburbs of Dakota County sit roughly 25 miles from both downtown areas. Primarily families reside in this area, and they enjoy an affordable cost of living, well-planned neighborhoods and a short (half an hour in low traffic conditions) commute into the city.
In this expanse of the Twin Cities' urban fringe, residents have their choice of newly constructed homes on large lots or attractive apartments in large blocks with modern amenities. While parts of Dakota county overlap with St. Paul proper, the outer edges of the county still host farms and natural areas.

Property Ratings at Boulder Ridge
To start, yes the office can be hard to contact at times, I've had most success using email. As well the apartment additional parking is not great, can be difficult for guest to find a place to park. Other then this issues they have been pretty great to live at. They replaced the maintenance guy last year, and the new one is attentive and takes care of things quickly. Would highly recommend living here.
we've sent emails, called, everything. no one has gotten back to us about setting up a tour. really bummed out because we like the way these look.
Look up the company that bought this apartment complex over a year ago, May 2016 i think it was. Here is a quote directly from their website "CommonBond Communities, the Midwest’s largest nonprofit provider of affordable housing". Thats right, a nonprofit, accepts donations company bought a what i would call middle class apartment complex, how did a NONPROFIT company buy a for profit apartment complex??? But lets continue with the review, overall they have done little to fix and maintain the property. A perfect example, there was a major leak in one of the buildings causing major water damage to the common area hallway ceiling. A bucket was placed under the leak, after about 2 weeks when the smell and black mold started to form I informed the front desk that I would report the problem to the county if nothing was going to be done, sure enough the next day things started to get fixed. Its examples like i just mentioned along with, general lack of caring about property maintenance that is what will deteriorate this apartment complex. broken mailboxes that haven't been fixed, dog sh*t that isn't picked up (we can blame other tenants on that one) , cars parked in spots for months on end with flat tires, hallways needing to be repainted, maintenance requests taking over a month to fix, I could go on and on. I have low standards too, my last apartment was on a college campus and they took better care of things than this company does. My advice is to stay away, if you end up renting i guarantee you will last 1 year and find something else, the amenities are nice but the small things add up to a general crap hole. Oh and also be prepared for the illegal "lets do random inspections game where we wont tell you if we are or are not going to be coming into your unit". These guys come in and critique your cleaning abilities, track dirty shoes in on the nice clean carpet, look in your closets, leaving you with a nice feeling like your entire privacy has been invaded. TLDR: Shady company that specializes in low income subsidy housing bought these buildings and will invade your privacy and never fix things, enjoy.
Since Common Bond took over this property last year it has quickly gone down hill quickly. The maintenance is almost non existent. It has taken months to get our fireplace, dryer, and ceiling fan fixed. The manger, AJ, is rarely here. He is supposed to be in the office 9 - 5 Monday through Friday but it is more like 11 - 3 on some days. Don't expect him to address any concerns because he won't leave from behind his desk. There is limited parking and some of the cars have been parked for months at a time with expired license plates and are broken down and don't move. If you are considering moving in here FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE.
The central call center set us up with an appointment today. We showed up to find out they are closed. We set up the appointment last night. There is a sign on the door saying they are closed all day. We call the number and get a different person. They said they are open and we told them about the note and they asked if we wanted another appointment. We said no because they are closed on weekends and our schedule don't work out normally. We called again and got another person. No one knows what is going on at their properties. We were really excited about seeing this place and the kitchen. But oh well. This is horrible management and completely un professional.
