The excellent public schools and low crime rate attract many Richmond-area commuters to Glen Allen, especially those raising families.
A cluster of large parks and golf courses on the south side of town provides excellent opportunities to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and the tranquility of nature, particularly the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. With Richmond so close at hand, it’s easy to hop down and take advantage of the historic city’s dining, entertainment, and sightseeing anytime.

Property Ratings at Breckenridge
Very disappointed in this property. Poor management, and quality of apartment. Parking lot floods when it rains, mold on the walls, maintenance leaves appliances in your home, emails are slow to be returned if they are returned at all. The list goes on.

Hello, we are sorry to hear about your frustrations at our community. I would like to discuss your concerns further and get them all resolved quickly. Can you please give me a call at your earliest convenience at (804) 270-7182. Thank you.
Customer service is poor and they try to police your visitors. You cannot have overnight visitors for more than 5 days out of the month or they will tow your car. We are adults, not children.

We're deeply disappointed to receive your negative evaluation of our community and we sincerely apologize if our offerings were not up to the standards that you expected. We'd love the opportunity for a second chance with you - please reach out to our office at your earliest convenience. Thank you and our team looks forward to hearing from you soon, Whitney.
The individuals in the office are not considerate of how you feel regardless of how much you pay. I have had the maintenance worker cleaning out the drain in the bathroom sink leave a note saying “don’t wash your hair in the sink with exclamations.” I was appalled that he would leave that note, so I took it back to the rental office and advised them it was like that when I moved in and I don’t wash my hair in the bathroom sink! Next, the breezeways are filthy and they never clean them. I have the upstairs neighbor from hell; she never walks her dog and had him urinating on the balcony (after sending so many pictures to the leasing office; she stopped). Since, I reported her she NEVER walks; she stomps everywhere. Management asked me to “record the noise,” I did. Today they called back and said..”the ceilings are “thin” and that’s normal walking. First how can you tell from a recording what’s normal? Second send her a notice about quiet hours and to be mindful of your neighbors! This neighbor stomps until about 11PM, BUT that’s normal (as I am writing this she is stomping, if only the ceiling could cave in). I would never encourage anyone to move here at all. I am moving out next month and would never rent from them again! Imagine paying rent and having to deal with the balcony smelling of dog urine (no one came to power wash it) and the neighbor upstairs stomping until almost midnight. I pray whomever moves into my apartment next have better luck with the neighbor above.

Only reason these clowns are getting a 1 star is because I can't give a 000. I've been without running water for days. Not able to use the restroom, take a shower, or cook any food. On top of that there is no notice or warning of when the water will be back on. WARNING!!! Stay away from these apartments. To much money for poor sevice??????????

Hi Winston, it saddens us to see your experience with our community hasn't been more positive. Our residents are important to us and while we strive to provide excellent service, we are sorry we missed the mark with you. Thank you for your feedback.
If you signed a lease and now you’ve find a roommate and would like to add a roommate’s name on the lease, then they will say it’s not an option for you. They need you to transfer the lease to your roommate so that they can collect penalty from you. Customer service is a joke and the only thing they care about is money! Speaking of the unit, the wall is thin and windows won’t shut completely so be prepared for huge electric bills.
This place is quite literally the worst. In addition to pests, thin walls, and swamp like exterior conditions, we have had 4 leaks since moving in. 1 of the leaks lasted 4 months while they sent different roofers 6 different times to attempt to fix it, all the while it was dripping indoors. Another was coming through the ceiling for 6 months while multiple roofers attempted to fix it, but the leak was there significantly longer as the ceiling had been patched in the same place when we initially moved in 8 months prior. Maintenance staff is terrible. Office is friendly to get you to move in, and then just rude. Let’s be clear about what a GSC property is: a property owned by GSC and managed by a smaller, more awful company that still dons GSC uniform. I cannot convey enough how much you should avoid this place.
It has been 5 months since i moved here and its a great place to live. Friendly staff, ample sunlight in all rooms. Kitchen appliances are stainless steel. Agreed that few bathroom appliances are old, but the maintenance staff always responds and fixes them quickly, mostly on the same day.
Where to start? Constant leaks in the ceiling. Paper thin walls. Poor insulation and 30 year old HVAC units leading to outrageous power bills in the summer: second and third floor apartments beware. Very little parking which is not limited to just the residents, so you may end up rather far from your dwelling. When they say the apartments are updated/renovated they mean the kitchen appliances and laminate countertops were replaced at some point in the last year. The cabinets are still from the 70s and don't close properly, your still old dryer won't actually dry your clothing, and even your new appliances have not been installed properly and therefore do not work properly. Oh, and that fancy new laminate flooring is laid over the most uneven surface in history, as is your new carpet -- you probably won't trip, but it's certainly not fun for your feet. They removed a sand and weed pit/volleyball court and put in a dog park that is inexplicably still filled with sand and for some reason has large tires randomly placed in it. Sand and tires are two of dogs' and dog owners' favorite things I'm told. You would think with the large number of families that have children who take to playing in the narrow, curvy streets with poor visibility they would have put a playground there instead. The maintenance staff is friendly, as is the office staff. I would assume the poor service and condition of the complex is due to the management company and not to be attributed to the fine folks that work here. If you put in a ticket to have anything fixed, don't expect to get it done the first time/week/month that you ask as it will likely take 2-4 calls to the office before anyone takes it seriously. But I digress, there are worst places to live so I've tacked on an extra star.
Customer service is NOT their first priority. They display a good front, nice family oriented, etc. This apartment community is plagued with problems management refuses to address. I have only been here a few months. It has been a struggle to get management to fix major problems such as mold and simple problems such as installing blinds correctly so that I can get the privacy I pay for. 60 day notice, 2 month fee for breaking lease. I am stuck in a 15 month lease just to get a decent rent amount of $971 for a one bedroom/bath. It has been the worst decision I ever made.
I absolutely love it here! Starting with the amazing rental office team, down to maintenance! The property is well kept, spacious apartment homes and most definitely pet friendly! This is the perfect property for roommates! Everyone in the office cares for the needs of each and every resident that lives here and it really warms my heart! Did I mention how quiet the neighborhood is..?! If your looking for a nice apartment home with space and decent affordable housing, please stop by Breckenridge! I would love for you to become my new neighbor!
First, the office staff are incredibly rude and neglectful. Recently saw one of them bumming a cigarette from a renter at the pool; just hideously distasteful and unprofessional. From day one, when I moved in, they "forgot" to make me a key, and none of the necessary paperwork was ready upon my arrival. Since move in, I have faced numerous maintenance issues, all of which have either taken weeks to be resolved, or have been neglected altogether. I have had both mice and roaches, and they have refused to call a professional exterminator. The last several emails I have sent the staff imploring them to resolve various issues have been outright ignored. I am stuck here because they charge not one but TWO months' rent to move out before lease is up. Additionally, my brand new vehicle was crashed into in their parking lot due to the recklessness of some of the people living here, causing thousands of dollars worth of damage that I have had to cover. Overall, this experience has been an absolute nightmare -- not to mention, the prices for these apartments are above average for the area. PLEASE - do not live here; you can get a better experience for your money just about anywhere else.
The leasing agents are horrible, especially the property manager. Constant maintenance issues. I had someone send me a package and it sat in the leasing office for days, I had to call and complain about something to find out it was there. The community is trashy, spider webs everywhere. And I just found out that a couple who recently moved in (who happen to work for my mom) needed a roof leak fixed and ended up having their credit card stolen by the contractor that these morons hired. I hate this place and will never recommend or re-sign a lease with them.
This apartment complex has the absolute worst customer service and maintenance crew I have ever experienced living in an apartment. They do not change air filters, they take a week to fix anything that is broken, the appliances are terrible (the only appliance that we haven't had break so far is the refrigerator, and we have only been here for 6 months) , and the staff is notorious for hanging up on their customers' phone calls in addition to being rude and unable to smile in passing. It is rare for anyone in the office to be available to attend to customers and not once have we had someone be friendly to us. I do not recommend living in this complex!
Too many leaks, bugs, slugs, and lies! They are giving out gift cards for good reviews. I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy!
It is like living in the country with all the benefits of the city. Everything you need is within walking distance, there are trees all around the building, boxwoods, volleyball, gym and pool. The patios are large, sheltered and great for a "spot of tea" in the afternoons. The staff are great - helpful, friendly and timely when you need assistance. I am moving, but only because I have a beautiful 3rd floor apartment, but my knees have really disappointed me. I can't do the stairs anymore.
Location location location! I live between 2 major shopping malls, and every restaurant my heart could desire. The apartment complex provides ample space between neighbors hence allowing a sense of exclusivity and seclusion great for private people (and loud people). All while keeping a sense of community with the common recreational spaces such as: a huge pool, hot tub, sauna, volleyball pit and even a community car wash port! The leasing office and employees are warm and welcoming. The apartment units include a fire place for the cold nights, a beautifully spacious patio/balcony with a view of trees and sunsets. The kitchens are spacious and include brand new stainless steel appliances and a bar table! What more could a girl ask for?! They even offer to paint accent walls. To make it even more Too good to be true, it's AFFORDABLE and allows for additional discounts for employees of a wide array of companies, as well as promotional rates ! I cancelled all other apartment tours after seeing this place. Good luck in your search for a fresh start in your dream apartment.
There is limited parking for the residents in front of the rental office as is with the reserved for people looking for apartments, but the staff takes up the few available spots that the residents could use. People living across from the rental office at times have to walk a great distant to park
Some would say you get what you pay for, but not here. Moved over to Copper Springs and am personally much happier. The customer service at BR is HORRID, and the units are outdated and they refuse to do anything about it. FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE. I warned you.
Property Manager at Breckenridge, Responded To This Review
I'm moving there in the fall. Just by the office staff at Copper Spring I can tell it will be a better apartment. I looked at a Berkeley that was empty and it was in so much better maintained. it seems like C S tries to have a community. :) Can't wait to move
James did an outstanding job assisting my daughter find an apartment within the complex. He answered all questions regarding the apartment in a timely manner. My daughter has moved in and already she feels at home. Thank-you James!
I lived there for 10 years. Maintenance was terrible. Constant leaks in the walls. They wouldn't plow the parking lot when it snowed. The walls are paper thin. If your rent is late they charge between $300 and $400 in additional fees. If you want to move to a different apartment there's an arbitrary fee of $150 to $250. The rent is raised every year. I had to move out due to the economy and gave written notice. According to the contract there's a one month penalty for moving out before the end of the contract. They immediately put an arbitrary amount of $10,000 on my credit report for collection. I wouldn't recommend any GSC community.
