Property Ratings at Brentwood Gardens
The grounds are a mess, the super is lazy and is rarely available. I recently moved because of this.
The 2 bedroom apartment is very spacious and the lay out is very nice. Rt.80 east and west are right next to the apartments so that is a major plus. The apartments do not have washer and dryer in each apartment itself, but there are laundry facilities around the apartments. We recently got new washers and dyers and they have a card system so no more digging for quarters. There is no assigned parking, its first come first served but no worries since there is always extra space. The only bad side to these apartments is the noise. If you live on a second floor and have children that run around, or just like to play i wouldn't recommend them since the walls and floors are very thin and all can be heard downstairs. Unless you have an understanding downstairs neighbor, beware of getting a second floor with children. There are also no pets allowed which is a bummer. Another thing is that only the living room and master room come with an A/C, if you rent a 2 bedroom like me, the second bedroom wont have an A/C since you are not allowed to put A/C on the windows. Yet floor A/C are always an option, it gets very hot. Overall the apartments are worth every penny you will pay in rent. The apartment complex is nice and quiet, the school is very good is you have kids, and right outside the apartments there is a little plaza with restaurants, a CVS, a gas station, a farmers market, USPS store and a bank.
I lived at this place for two years. Very quiet and excellent location and plenty of parking. Very decent size for the money and place was updated and snow removal was good. located to nearby malls and easy access to RT80. The RT 15 would be backed up at rush hour so it evens out. 1min to Shoprite and Costco and 2min to Rockaway mall. bad things, I had my cars parked by the management office and super damaged my car with a knife at the roof of the car....they didn't like that fact I didn't move my car so that they can clear the drive way....Keep in mind that I parked in a designated parking space and my car has 3inch rust on the roof. Bad people (supers#. Second, this is the deal breaker, the apart does not include heating. The APT is heated by electric baseboard and very inefficient at keeping it warm....so expect to pay $300-400 for electricity alone in winter time..... overall, although rent is cheap compared to other apartments, the electricity during the winter time offsets the low rent in similar in size. I moved from Hackensack at Prospect Ave to Wharton and even though I paid more on rent at Hackensack APT, I think its better deal #I paid $60 at max on electric at Hackensack and the Hackensack was bigger as well). The heat was not included at Hackensack either but the place was good at keeping warm. I would not recommend this place if you don't like cold weather.
