With low crime, terrific schools, a strong local economy, world-class amenities, and very agreeable cost of living (many apartments rent for under $700), Ankeny scores exceptionally high livability ratings across the board. Straight north of Des Moines on I-35, Ankeny is a rapidly-growing suburb with a distinctly family-friendly environment. The extensive network of public parks (Prairie Ridge in particular) offer playgrounds, sports fields, and nice scenery all over town. The close Proximity to Des Moines makes Ankeny apartments a great option for commuters and gives residents convenient access to the capital city’s attractions.

Property Ratings at Brick Towne at Piper
I've lived here for several years. The location is close to schools and grocery stores and convince stores. The staff is very nice and handles any issues you have in a timely manner.
Walls are super thin, I can hear cabinets shutting, showers running, and stomping. They didn't give me the code to even the building when I moved in and it was a Saturday so they were closed with no one to help. They send out unprofessional emails that let's you know you're not worth anything to them. I don't even have a dog but the emails I receive say "you need to pick up your dog poop" and then ask you to take a picture and give it to them of other people not picking up dog poop. I have multiple dents on my car from careless residents, even if 2 people park good next to each other you'll be squeezing out of your car trying not to hit there but piper said "it's within regulation" and they won't do anything about it other than tell me to get on a waiting list to rent a garage. Pools only open like 2 months out of the year, I literally watched it turn green and then they covered it for winter. And it really doesn't look nice on the outside I frequently get comments about living "in a penitentiary ".
The walls are paper thin. I don’t mind, but if you’re a light sleeper or someone that wants peace and quiet just know you can hear the people above you and next to you. The apartments are pet friendly, which is nice apart from the fact that there’s always dog poop around the buildings-probably because they never stock their dog poop bags and people are lazy. They send out passive aggressive emails about trash and poop around the buildings, but never do anything about it. I will say management is nice and the apartments are beautiful. An acquaintance of mine lives in the building over and says their apartment building always reeks of marijuana even though our apartments are “no smoking”. The police has shown up several times but nothing has ever come of it. Apparently they told residents there would be a dog park years ago and there still is not one. The pool is very nice apart from the fact that people are only allowed to bring one guest and not everyone follows that rule so sometimes there’s no room for paying residents. Overall, it’s not a bad apartment. Be aware of reviews about this place that are 5 stars also because management does raffle drawings for individuals that give this place a 5 star review….
I have lived here for 6 months now and I am loving it! The staff at the clubhouse have done an incredible job making this process a breeze! They have already done two resident events in the time I have been here. Anytime I have an issue it is taken care of right away which is very relieving! I would 10/10 recommend living at Bricktowne in Ankeny!
Brand new apartments that include cable and internet! Very affordable and the quality is great. Brooke was very helpful and got us set up right away. We’re very happy here and glad I choose Piper! I recommend to anyone looking in the north Ankeny area
Been living here for about 6 months, very happy overall. Positives: Plenty of parking, very friendly and helpful staff, brand new, free cable and internet (both very fast and reliable), VERY quiet, easy access to I-35, pleasant pond in "backyard", warm in winter and cool in summer, Exercise room is great. Cons: Very evident that it was built very quickly (small gaps in hardwood floors, wind whistles through vents and hallways, construction workers have had to come in twice to make updates that should have been done to begin with), construction still going on (rather loud during all daylight hours), bit more on the expensive side, snow removal is very slow on weekends, little to do in the immediate area, no elevator (did not realize until move in)
I enjoy it here and like the apartment but about a week after I moved in last month the lady upstairs moved in. She is not heavy but walks very hard and it would be ok but she goes back and forth non stop for half hrs at a time throughout the day. When she is not there I enjoy being here so if you want a first or second floor check who lives upstairs if you do not like heavy/stomping people cause I'm stuck listening to that for a yr.
We recently moved in about 2 weeks ago. We love that there is no carpet! And the island in the kitchen is great. Gives us extra counter space and storage. The apartment is brand new and updated with nice finishes. The office staff has been so helpful and pleasant to deal with. We plan on being here for the next few years until we buy a house.
