Property Ratings at Bridgehead
Our appartment that we rented was exactly what we had hoped for, buildings are older but they have done a good job keeping up with them. Management was good, although they have new management and we personally didn’t have enough time to get to know her. Views are amazing and super secluded from city life but not far from anything. We always joked that everything was 20 mins away. Maintenance could sometimes take a bit, they have one guy for all 9 buildings, but he was awesome once he got there. If your looking for hill country life I would recommend.
This complex is an ideal haven from the expansive overcrowded city and traffic congestion. The quaint picturesque setting of the apartments remind me of a European village. Beautiful trees, pristine landscaping, and expansive views surround my apartment, and the residents are exceptionally quiet and respectful. My corner apartment has all the features of a home - large windows on three sides, an updated kitchen, and a spacious living area and patio. The manager/technician are highly attentive to every need. All throughout the freeze, they were on-site until late at night solving problems and emailing daily updates to residents. They truly care about the well-being of the people living here, and I couldn't ask for better neighbors or a more supportive living environment.
Bridgehead Apts. offer solace, friendly neighbors, well-kept grounds, excellent management and repairs, comparative prices, great location, and cute living spaces with patios. The greenery everywhere is a great escape from the bustle of city life. It is quiet here with very few children. Walking the hills here is challenging, but fun. Suzanne C.
This place is really old, and the management is terrible to match. Management has lots of turnover and is also very inconsistent. Expect a lot of bugs and rodents. The maintenance guy is very good, but does not have a lot to work with. They will also nickel & dime you at every turn. Do not expect a return for deposit as they will find a reason hold-on to those funds. It's how they do business. Beware.
This place is horrible. Please trust me when you read this. Erin, the property manager, is absolutely terrible. I only lived here one year, and never paid late or had any issues with anyone. When I moved out, she tried to charge me for replacing carpet and lied about finding cat liter and cat toys in the apartment. The craziest thing is I've NEVER owned a pet. She never showed me any proof or worked with me at all. This place will find ANY REASON to charge people. FYI- I'm literally not paying it and letting it go to collections, because I refuse to give money to corrupt properties like this one. This is my 5th apartment since living in Austin, and nothing compared to the headache this place gave me. Not worth the trouble or the money.
I liked living here. Made my payments on time and never had an issue with the property manager or maintenance guy Tim. Prior to moving out my roommate and I were to receive $250 each, so $500 total in deposits (yeah we all know how that goes). So I was definitely not expecting all of it because I have learned my lesson in the past. We lived in our unit for 1 year and prior to moving in they installed new carpet, well, when we moved out not only did they not give us any of our $500 back, but they said we owed them $389.70!!!! Are you kidding me. The reasoning, or should I say excuse, as to why this was so was because there were stains in the carpet due to "high traffic into the master bedroom and a small stain near the trash can". I kid you not, the pictures that were provided to me were laughable, so comedic that I couldnt take it seriously. Its called a commercial carpet cleaner people, you rent one for $50 and the place looks brand new. This place will rip you for your money and do everything in their power to get every dollar out of you. After loving living here, I am left with the most disgusting taste in my mouth and cant even fathom why I was so nice and mature to the property manager. The best thing about this place is Tim the maintenance guy no doubt, they should put him in charge because he actually has some common sense and definitely cares more about the residents. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!!!
Apartments are really old and only somewhat maintained. Huge wall-floor gaps on the ground floor let roaches, slugs and all of the other fun Texas critters in. I can see straight to the outside underneath my front door and light around the outline of the door itself. It takes a ton of energy to keep cool with all the drafts. And they don't fix anything. My microwave hasn't worked in over a year, ended up just buying my own. Bits of sheetrock fall from the ceiling occasionally too, but both times someone came to look at it already they didn't seem too concerned. If you joked - well at least I'll never have to worried about floods atop this comically steep hill - the apartments also flood! Drains are never cleared out, and the aforementioned poor sealing on the ground floor lets water in just as easily as the bugs! Overall all it's not the worst I guess, quiet, but very expensive on top of the negatives, and many of the amenities are overstated. I also like the other review on here that clearly wasn't written by the apartments themselves.
I give it four stars because it was built in the 1980's, but it deserves 4.5 stars thanks to the people who manage it and maintain it. Jennifer and crew manage it and Tim maintains it. Both began work here in June, 2015. Both will treat you decently. Bridgehead has only garden apartments which are very quiet. None of the surrounding properties are apartment complexes, so that eliminates spill-over parties. Instead several office parks surround Bridgehead. They are empty at night of course. The only other adjacent properties are a complex of condominiums and a street of expensive single-family houses. Another reason the apartments are quiet is that the architect staggered the entrances, so that most second-floor units have a dedicated stairway. The architect also broke most of the buildings into three smaller buildings, thus eliminating some commons walls between apartments. I rarely hear my neighbors through the ceiling or walls. I rented my apartment sight unseen while I lived in Northern Virginia based on reviews which said how well-managed the complex was. I am glad that I did. I was shocked by how friendly people are in Austin. About twenty units on the northeastern side have views of Texas Hill Country. The extreme northeast corner has a view of downtown Austin. About forty units face a courtyard which has two pools, a basketball court and a gazebo. All apartments have hardwood floors, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. Are they fancy? No, not reallly; they were built a while ago, but the managers have maintained them. The tenants are mostly young adults beginning careers after graduating from college, together with some young people working blue-collar jobs. Joining the mix are a few retirees. There are very few tenants in the middle of their careers here. Bridgehead is over two miles from the nearest bus line, so if you don't have a car you would need to call a cab. The walkscore is low, 9, but there are a couple of restaurants to which you could walk. There are many hiking trails which don't enter into the calculation of Bridgehead's walkscore. The bikescore is low, too. I see people bicycling on TX 360 but on FM 2222 it would be almost suicidal. It is possible to bike into Austin using Lakewood and Far West, which have little traffic, but these streets are steep.
