Just 30 minutes south of San Francisco is where you’ll find San Mateo. A bayfront locale that lacks the commotion of San Fran, San Mateo affords residents all the scenic appeal of the Bay Area at a more acceptable price point.
Centrally located among the major Bay Area communities, renting an apartment in San Mateo puts you just a short drive away from Oakland, Palo Alto, San Jose, and of course San Francisco. The region’s natural attractions are close at hand as well, with the city just minutes from the sprawling Rancho Corral de Tierra and the popular Coyote Point Recreation Area overlooking San Francisco Bay — large in-town parks like Laurelwood Park and Bay Meadows Park make it even easier to enjoy time outdoors.
San Mateo has one of the largest and most developed downtown districts in the region, with scores of exotic restaurants, the sprawling Hillsdale Shopping Center, and beautifully-preserved historic buildings.

Property Ratings at Bridgepointe
Smooth leasing process and move-in...love my new home! Relocated from a sister property in Sunnyvale to be closer to work (5 days in the office now). Grateful for both Tamarind Sqaure's and Bridgepointe's teams for making this an easy transition.

Hi there - thanks for your lovely comments about our team. We'll be sure to let them know they went Beyond Expectations!
There were some hiccups in the beginning of our move, but the new management seems promising! Some things we asked for took a little bit of time but most of our concerns were addressed!
There're a lot of people keep smoking in this non-smoking community. Told the staff multiple times but they never took action to solve it. The smoke just keep spreading into my unit through the vent.
Hope the common area is cleaner... There are lots of dust and trash. Amenities are not residence friendly. We can't use them freely. Gym is always crowded (too small). Theater room is under construction for a year. There is no access from outside to clubhouse.
Friendly Community, near to some great shops and restaurants. Leasing office are very friendly and welcoming. Maintenance responsive and do a great job.
We have been living here for 3.5 years! And every year, I tell my husband to please move to another apartment complex! The pros are the good location, and I love my apartment a lot if you compare it with the others around here. However, I am so over with the management. They never take into consideration any complaints. Assistants, or office people, always change, and their answers are extremely insufficient. I am super done to track my packages, when I complain about the management to take an action, one of the assistant just told me today, ' yea we are saying to the amazon people all the time'. It is not the right answer they should provide to their loyal residents; the delivery area is such a mess, the delivery room is always broken or open for the people who can't live here to enter easily. I can't tell how often my packages are lost or stolen; when I tell management, they ignore it. I am not working from home, and I can't run after all my delivery packages are stolen again since we have no proper delivery area. Also, I see non-residents in our pool all the time. Another thing is the never-ending fire alarms, inspections, etc. When I call the management office, they tell me I don't know it will end, etc... I don't recommend anybody to move in here. Hopefully, we will move out soon.
Definitely a better experience since the Maintenance Manager changed about a year ago. Jesus made a huge difference! Took a minute to clean up all the pieces. But that department has defiantly improved! They were having some trouble in the office for awhile. But that has since been alleviated recently. Robert handled it and has now handed it off to new management. I have met her and look forward to their contribution to the property and Bridgepointe Community
Great community with ample amenities to live in. Close to everything you need, within walking distance. Easy access to major freeways and it's about 15mins away from SFO, which is super awesome!
BEWARE: Bridgepointe Management is the worst group of “professionals” you will ever come across. Bridgepointe Corporate is run by some of the most incompetent people I have ever come across. No accountability, no response, no answers, no clear way to see where you money is going or what you are paying for. Do not recommend

The apartment was overall nice in quality, a few things broken here and there, but they will eventually be fixed like the freezer handle for the fridge, couple plugs don't work, a kitchen cabinet hinge was broken, toilet holder was broken, bathroom drainage issues, key fob not working the first day, given wrong parking spot.

Loved it so far, the staff are all extremely friendly and a great community. Proximity to shops and other places is amazing too, right next to some great walks by the water also.
I’m happy where I live. My service request is attended on a timely manner. I enjoy interacting with the leasing staff. However, cleanliness of the surroundings should be improved.

This place honestly has so much potential - great location, spacious units, dog friendly, etc. I had moved over after spending a few years in downtown Oakland and let me tell you that I had in no way imagined that the level of professionalism from staff and cleanliness of the property to be worse, by a landslide. I will not go into detail about all the poor experiences here - from assigned parking, closed amenities with minimal communication, homeless and their belongings on the property (main entrances have all been broken for at least several months), missing packages, maintenance, overall cleanliness. I really try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately, every experience I have had with multiple different staff members have all been extremely unprofessional, dismissive, or they seemed to not know what’s going on and will defer to the next person on shift. I have lived on multiple different properties across the West Coast, including other Greystar Properties and this has by far been the worst. :( I really wanted to love this place and I am really sad that it has gotten to the point of me to sharing this poor experience. Hopefully, they will begin to listen to tenant feedback and rebuild a better community!

We ran into issues here and there but the team has responded fairly to the problems we addressed. This is a convenient location to the freeway and the bridge but at the same time where it is not a hindrance.

Stayed for 1 year and kept the unit very clean. Upon moving out they applied fees which were unable to be negotiated for cleaning and carpet cleaning ($420). They also charged us for 10 extra days. They also charged us for $630 for paint on top of not being willing to provide any proof of damage. This not only took our whole deposit, but they are now sending us a bill for $400. Our time there was also less than ideal. Noise complaints were ignored. The trash area was overflowing. No one picked up after their dogs. Management was rarely available. Several packages went missing. Avoid here at all costs.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience. We are disappointed to hear that you are not satisfied with your visit.
The Management Team is really bad and rude to residents. I just moved in over a month and there have been various issues. The room blinds keep falling from day one and they don't close properly. I have complained to the management a couple of times but it's of no use. If you submit a service request no one comes for days to see it. The packages constantly get lost. The package room is tiny and a mess. The management refuses to settle it and says it is not their responsibility. Stuff is just thrown in the package room, if you have to find something good luck, spare at least a couple of hours to go in there and even after that you don't know if you are going to find it. Don't understand why provide a service when you cannot give it properly. The management shouts out at you is rude and not at all helpful. If you call the office at any time no one will ever pick up. If you are thinking of getting a place here my recommendation is please reconsider. Not a place worth staying for the money you pay. The services are not provided.

Quiet, serene atmosphere, close to everything and easy to get to. The staff are friendly and helped make this process painless. A great team to work with and I am excited to live here.

SO MANY RATS. If you stand between the buildings and look at the first floor balconies you’ll just see them running from balcony to balcony. They bushes surrounding the buildings are crawling with them. Dog poop everywhere and management does nothing about it. In the bushes, in the stairwell, in the walkways. Gross. All different kinds of spiders. Spotted ones, brown ones, black ones with different colored markings, massive ones. I’m assuming some of them are dangerous but the maintenance crew just lets them live in peace. Mushrooms all over the place. I’m not sure if this is in relation to the dog poop but there’s so many random, dangerous looking mushrooms and kinds of fungus sprouting up around the complex in the landscaping. If you have a dog I’d be worried, even small children. It’s a nice enough building. The neighbors aren’t super great. They’ll open your packages and leave them in the walkways. I’d recommend living somewhere else for the price.

The apartments are ok, but the parking situation is very bad. There is just NOT enough parking in the building. The property used to provide free parking for residents and guests, but recently they decided to be greedy and start charging for these parking spots. The few parking left for visitors are now taken by the residents. My experience since then has been negative. I don’t recommend this place if you are socially active and have friends, as you will never have them visiting you. If you are a family with 2+ Vehicles, living here will be your worst experience. Although many residents complained, management decided to do nothing. Good luck in your home search!

The place lacks parking. No visitor parking, since it is taken by most residents. Dog Poop in many places. If you have family, not a place you want Raise your kids. If you are single, don’t have friends, and enjoy locking yourself home, this place is for you. Watch you foot when visiting this place. There is dog poop everywhere.

There is no parking in the area like many said. There is never parking for visitors. See it for yourself, and don’t believe them. Elevators are falling apart. Floors are dirty. It is not hard to see syringes thrown around or people smoking pot. Packages get stolen all the time. The hallways haven’t been cleaned since 1998. Most comparable places around will cost you 20% less and it will be safer with better areas for outdoor activities. I should have checked the reviews earlier. I am trying to cancel my lease because if I stay here, it will be the unhappiest 12 months of my life.

The place lacks parking. Management is unfriendly... no maintenance for the apartments... can’t wait for my lease to be up.

Hello, we strive for 100% satisfaction, and we regret to find out that this was not the case. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will use your comments to refine our efforts to ensure this issue does not happen again.
All I can say is the new management that took over last year really sucks. Now they’re even trying to charge for ALL parking spaces including ones that were available as guest parking prior. A lot of people have moved out so I know this isn’t a parking availability issue. I will not be renewing though I’ve been here for almost 3 years.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience. We are disappointed to hear that you are not satisfied with your visit.
The neighborhood of the apartment is decent but unfortunately the management of the apartment is unhelpful and unprofessional. I can’t agree more with the bad reviews from other residents and I truly resonate with their experience. During the times I lived here, I saw so many people moving out and I finally understood after so many upsetting incidents and interactions with the management team. If you are considering this apt, please be careful. They do not care about the tenant but the money.

The physical apartments themselves are okay (aside from shoddy carpet installation) but the complex as a whole is a mess. There's messes of cobwebs dangling from lights and in stairwells, piles of dirt and dust in the hallways, drainage pipes that have rusted all the way through, etc. The new management is TERRIBLE. I was trying to renew my lease and no one called me back for weeks. Another friend tried to lease an apartment and they didn't process their application a week so she gave up and found a different apartment. If you're trying to give them money and they don't respond imagine how they act if you need something from them. They don't answer the phones and when they do the people in the office are so new they don't have any answers. If you like online shopping don't even look here. The management doesn't provide enough package lockers for the amount of residents that live here and refuses to let carriers leave packages in our package room. Packages are just strewn around the complex. From speaking with former neighbors they also make move out a hellish experience as well. The one star is for the proximity to Target. That is the best part about living here. Half the units are empty right now, it's a sign. Find somewhere better.

I moved into Bridgepointe apartments and 6 months later, my friend moved into Bridgepointe apartments. I referred my friend for leasing and leasing office told us, they would give referral bonus 750 dollars after 1 month. It has been 4 months and still they dont give bonus and they dont reply our emails or phone calls. Please consider their promises before moving in.

This place has been steadily declining for the past 4 years. - THE COMPLEX IS NOT SECURE AND THEREFORE NOT SAFE. Gates are always left open, vendors block garage gate sensors so the gates stay open, who knows how many key fobs are unaccounted for and the gate code has never been changed in the 4+ years I've lived here! As a result we had a man prowling ON our patio while we were home and had to call the police. Others in my building have experienced attempted break-ins while living here too...it's not safe here and management has done nothing to improve the security and safety of residents. - Walls are thin, be prepared to constantly hear your neighbors. - Property is dirty and not cleaned. There is trash everywhere. In the walkways, parking garages, and even in the bushes outside of apartments. - Tenants leave bags of dog poop on the ground, or they don't pick up after their dogs at all. - There is black mold in the units. In our unit it's just in the windows so we manage by consistently cleaning, but it's unhealthy...we had a neighbor move out of their unit because there was so much black mold built up under the carpet in their bedroom closet. - Plan on losing packages. The package lockers are not easily accessed by package carriers and packages often times end up in the wrong place or are stolen due to the security issues I mentioned. Overall the property is not safe, not clean, and is overpriced. If you're looking for housing in the peninsula look elsewhere!!

Hi |there, we can assure you that we do not find this type of behavior acceptable, and we would like to address the situation you have described.
I echo a lot of other reviewers on here, specifically pointing to the incompetence of the management team, and in my case, a lack of accountability. I lived here between August 2018 to August 2019 in a 1 bedroom Apt. During move-out, I handed them a check which paid the balance for the final month's rent and utilities. However, I made an error in my calculations and overpaid on my initial check; I moved out on the 5th of August but my check actually covered until the 8th. I noticed the problem when I was handing in the keys, but the\ management team assured me that they will correct the balance and send me a refund check, so I didn't bother writing another check. Ultimately, I did receive a refund check of $234.54; but after carefully going through the statement, I calculated that the refund should've been $531.21. I called and emailed the management team, and after a few weeks persistence they finally acknowledged that they made a mistake, and told me that they would issue a modified refund check of $531.21 which I should receive within 21 business days. Keep in mind that all of this occurred in August 2019, and by today, Feb. 4, 2020, I still have not received the refund check. Over the past few months I have tried to contact them both via phone and email to see what's happening, but they have been ignoring me lately. I realize that this is less than $300, but I feel that this really shows the lack of accountability of the management team at Bridgepointe, resorting to childish behaviors such as screening calls and ignoring emails. PLEASE BE CAREFUL when you deal with them, because they will try to cheat every possible penny that they could.
Thought I'd finally sit down and do a review. The apartments themselves are nice, spacious, walkability is fantastic to Bridgepointe Shopping Center. But my husband and I have run into an issue while here and I think some people should be aware of before moving in. Pros Walkability Spacious apartments Clean Fireplaces in 3rd floor apartments (good for cold winters) In-unit laundry Movie theater room on site (but when I've gone to use it, I've had issues) Tall ceilings in third floor apts Rarely any apartment issues that require maintenance Cons When we first moved in, someone was parked in our assigned parking garage spot. We couldn't get ahold of anyone for almost a week because the office never picks up the phone or replies to emails and we work all day. When we finally did get ahold of someone, they assigned us another spot. A few months or so down the road, we come home and a guy was parked in our spot saying it was his spot. We go to the office and turns out they never actually changed our spot number to the correct one. So they "updated it" and moved the guy. Fast forward to today, almost 6 months later from the second time, someone was parked in our spot again. When we went to the office to complain, we found out accidentally they STILL have not given us the correct parking spot assignment, almost a year later. We also found out that the person who is actually assigned our parking spot is parking in a DIFFERENT spot than their assigned spot, so it seems like no one is parked in the correct place. We have to wait 24 hours before anything can be done, and that's on Memorial Day, and when I tried calling office to ask what to do on a holiday, leaving a message, and emailing, no one responded to me. The parking garage is notorious for giving residents issues: there's a number of security issues and no patrolman at any time of day (don't be fooled by the patrol sign on the gate), there's no sign saying it's resident only parking and that violators will be towed, this area has had a problem with car break-ins so lack of security is a worry. We are good tenants and usually don't cause issues or anything, but we're reaching our breaking point. So those are some things prospective residents need to be wary of, at least things I would want to know so you know what you are getting into. If it weren't for those issues, it'd be a pretty decent living experience.
When I moved in to my Bridgepointe apartment eight years ago, I had initially signed a short term lease thinking my move was just temporary until I found a new home to live in for the long term. By the time my lease was up for renewal, I realized that my apartment was my "home". It has all the amenities I needed including in unit washer/dryer, a walking distance to great shops and restaurants, and a convenient location on the peninsula that provided easy access to major freeways and the bridge. Best of all, Foster City, the best city to live in in all of California with its beautiful waterways and parks, was just a couple of blocks walking distance! I saw changes in management throughout the years here at Bridgepointe but the newest property management team is absolutely THE BEST!! They listen to their tenants' needs and are quick to respond. The swimming pool and lounge areas are always being enjoyed by tenants and their guests. The workout room was my best friend at times when I had committed to losing weight for my New Years resolution and had lost 30 pounds in three months...woohoo :) The only downside is that because every one else has discovered this beautiful gem called Bridgepointe Apts, they have been driving the rents up every year due to high demand. :(.
