Residents of Outer Chapel Hill live in a forested residential area with tree-lined streets, spacious properties and Southern-style homes. Local churches sit on almost every corner and provide landmarks and inspiration for road names. A lot of residents have small farms on their property with horses, goats and cows roaming the fields. Some of the larger farms work to turn a profit, but locals enjoy the luxury of being gentlemen farmers who can enjoy the land and the animals as a hobby.
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the sizable Carolina North Forest sit to the southeast, and I-40 runs parallel with the northern border of the neighborhood. This provides the Outer Chapel Hill area with a unique mixture of agrarian lifestyle and cultural richness.

Property Ratings at Bridges at Chapel Hill
We've lived at The Bridges for several years and highly recommend this complex for its team that manages to curate a beautifully kept space. The complex itself has a lot of charm aesthetically, but the real charm is about the people and team of Lauren, Jeff, and Bobby that ensure residents are cared for! Every maintenance request is taken care of quickly, and when Jeff or Bobby addresses a request, you can be assured the problem has been resolved. As the property manager, Lauren is always willing to chat and collaboratively address any concerns; she genuinely cares, and that makes a difference in the living experience here. I highly recommend The Bridges at Chapel Hill and would give more stars if allowed ;)
The Bridges at Chapel Hill is a great place to live! The management and maintenance staff are always quick and efficient in helping with any problems. The location is great, and the area is safe and clean!
Whatever you do please don’t move here. It may look nice in the photos and management may even be accommodating to you so you feel good about your decision to move into the Bridges but don’t do it. However if you fall for it, be ready to deal with ongoing maintenance issues and bugs. You’ll become friends with the maintenance staff because they come into your unit so much and you’ll want to charge rent to the bugs. There are roaches, wasps (nests maybe even outside your door) bees, and I even had a slug and worm come into my unit which was a first for me. If you are on the bottom floor it will just feel like an extension of the woods and forget about using your patio because the crew that they hire to mow the lawn shoots grass, dirt etc on your patio and mess it up every week. Mold grew everywhere on my items. Upon move out I noticed it was not only around my windows and closet but it grew on my coats, my couch, table, and bed. I have had to spend several hundreds of dollars to get items cleaned and may need to spend thousands to get items replaced. I had an ongoing heating issue that was never fixed but my heating bill was extremely high for not actually having heat. Maintenance would come in and do the same thing everytime but it was never fixed. I had a gas leak, my washer and dryer broke a few times, sinks leaked and had to get replaced numerous times, the shower leaked and wasn’t flush with the wall so I know there was a leak under the actual tub. If you are lucky enough to be on the side of the building you will have a lovely “water feature” and by that I mean they don’t clean out the ducts on the top of the building so water just pours down and in my case hits the side of the building and causes a leak along the window. I know there is also mold along those walls because of the water damage. Bottom line this place is horrible and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I should note my unit was one of the “renovated” units. I had the worst time living here and put a lot of time and energy into fixing it up (because once you move in you will notice what a horrible job they did renovating) when I moved in and left with bad vibes, mold over all of my things and paranoia that I could have possibly moved roaches into the new place. (Luckily this hasn’t happened). It may be cheaper and along the bus line but there are better options out there that are much nicer and about the same price. It’s just not worth it.
Ive had nothing but a positive experience at Bridges at Chapel Hill. Ive been here nearly 3 years. My renovated apartment is attractive, the location is convenient and I love the pool and dog park.
RUN FAR, FAR AWAY! Their favorite thing to do is lie, lie, lie... and then lie some more. "Alternative facts" reign supreme at Bridges! Arrived from out of state and apartment B8 has major mold issues under the kitchen sink and near the bathroom ceiling in the closet. Apartment B8 is in major disrepair. The mold caused me to have a reaction and the apartment is uninhabitable. They will not provide any proof that the proper inspectors have assessed the mold contamination of the unit. That was three days ago and they have still not resolved the issue with putting me in a home or refunding my money so I can move on. I am sitting at a hotel while my personal items are at the distribution center. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM WITHOUT SEEING THE ACTUAL UNIT. DO A THOROUGH INSPECTION OF THE UNIT WITH VIDEO WHEN YOU DO THE TOUR. LOOK AT EVERY SQUARE INCH.
I'm going on 3 years here, and my experience has improved however, my experience in the beginning was very poor. Work orders were taking too long to be completed and/or not being completed well. I've also had a lot of bugs in the apartment and outside my door but I try to spray daily. My rent has increased yet the apartment quality hasn't improved, and is not worth the price I am now paying.
The people working at Bridges are the least helpful people I've ever communicated with. Once, a package meant for me was delivered to the front office instead of to my apartment. I went into the office and asked for it multiple times - each time, they said that it wasn't there. Several days later they called me and told me the package had been in their office the entire time. I've had several other experiences with staff people there being similarly unhelpful - I ask them for help that only they can provide, and they basically just say "no." They are rude, but I think it's mostly just the fact that they are idiots. Also hated living there, it took an hour to get home from Chapel Hill on the bus, there were cockroaches in the apartment, it wasn't very nice and also way more expensive than the place I live now (which is only a 20 min walk from campus). Do NOT recommend - stay away.
The biggest pro about the place is you get a good amount of space for your money. The staff are extremely friendly and try to be helpful. However, appliances are NOT updated and cabinets are broken/cupboards sag. When I moved in multiple locks on my doors were broken and my closet doors were broken as well. I have had a pretty significant issue with bugs as well. I kill 3-5 spiders a day as well as centipedes. I am moving out because they are increasing rent price and I have found multiple complexes in the area that are similarly priced with updated appliances.
