Property Ratings at Brighton Park Apartments
Living at Brighton Park Apartments has been a nightmare. We've reported a severe cockroach infestation to the management multiple times, and instead of taking responsibility, they want to charge us a fee to break our lease. We have documented dozens of live and dead roaches in every part of our apartment, and the issue is completely out of control. Management's lack of action has left us with no choice but to move out, but they still demand extra fees for leaving. This is unacceptable, and I would strongly advise anyone considering this place to look elsewhere.
Property Manager at Brighton Park Apartments, Responded To This Review
We're sorry to hear about your experience. We want all residents to feel comfortable and take your concerns seriously. You may email our office at BrightonParkHelp@fdcmanagement.com when you can, so we can discuss this further.
Absolute worst management team I’ve ever witnessed. These people are supposed to be in charge of an apartment community??!! Seriously, who hired these people. The place seems well maintained and the office staff appears friendly at first, but quickly they will show you how lazy, irresponsible, greedy, and useless they are. After we paid our deposit and “application fees” (which is how the staff gets commission) they stopped answering our calls, replying to our emails, and gave us a MUCH HIGHER MOVE IN QUOTE 1500$ more than the original. It’s been 1 week and I have no response either through mail or phone. They cashed our deposit and now ZERO response. I am waiting to get my deposit back because I refuse to live in a community with such useless and pathetic staff.
The apartment itself is fairly nice, however, the management is impossible to work with. To start, they seldom answer the office phone despite being in the office. This was discovered when I called and walked to the office within 2 minutes where 2 workers were found inside (happened on multiple occasions). Recent complaints: they scheduled a four hour window to conduct a pre-moveout inspection, for which they forgot about and did not complete that day after I had scheduled other personal appointments around it. They then rescheduled the inspection for the following Saturday and kept me waiting only to not conduct the inspection again. I called the office twice and received no answer. When I went by the office at 3:45pm when the inspection was scheduled for 2pm, I found that the office had closed more than 2 hours early, as their office hours are 9am-6pm, as posted next to the door. The management is also notorious for shutting off the water without any notice. Furthermore, management decided to wrongfully withdraw fees for painting and cleaning of the apartment after my vacating, despite my deep cleaning of the unit and the walls being in perfect condition, minus typical wear and tear over 2+ years. I would never recommend this as a place to live, as I have yet to have a positive experience with the management in the 2+ years I have lived here. If you have a dispute against claims to have deductions of your security deposit, they will just ignore you. After the leasing office ignored me, I reached out to the regional property manager, who also ignored me. The only competent person working in the office is Miss Corey, as all my other dealings in the office were with Shawna, who dropped the ball on multiple occasions with commitments and clearly does not have any concern for resident requests.
Rude and unhelpful staff and ton's of black mold. After 15 years of rental, I was given 60 days to find a home not covered in toxic black mold. Almost anywhere else would be better than this dump.
I rented a place in January. I retired after working for 31 years in Claremont as a physician. I own a home elsewhere and would come and go to Claremont so I wanted a rental unit for a while. The process of getting approved as a renter is rather tedious and I have found applying for a home loan is less intrusive. Nevertheless, I rented a one bedroom. I was told I would need to have my parking tag visible or I might get towed and that rent had to be paid by the first of the month or I would then have to get a cashier's check from the back and hand deliver the rent payment by the first of each month. No exceptions. I found the parking tag did not fit over my rear view mirror. I put Velcro to the window and the parking tag. I went to Chicago to visit my grand-kids for 10 days and upon returning found that my car was gone. I found out from the police department that it had been towed since the parking tag was not visible. It cost me $661 to get the car out from the tow yard where it had been for 5 days. I discovered that the Velcro on the window had come off and the parking tag was on the floor of the car. I told the girls in the rental office what had happened and then filed a complaint with the property management company explaining the tag did not fit my mirror and why were they so heavy handed with residents that they had to tow cars? Why not simply call the owner of the car and see what is going on rather than towing the vehicle? If I would have been gone for 30 days, which I recently was on another trip, they could have sold my car. I gave it some time after filing the complaint with the property management company but never was sent an apology or any response to my complaint letter. I find the way they do business as oppressive to their clients, the renters. No grace periods, no allowances for any issues. The only reason I posted this complaint is because I never heard back from anyone about the issue with my car being towed. I never did think I would get my money back but an apology would have been nice. Obviously they will know who posted this complaint, but I am planning on leaving the complex in the near future. This does not even touch on the issues with the constant construction around the apartment with replacing the outside walls on some of the apartments; mine was one of them. You will likely find more peace elsewhere.
Okay, these guys will tow your car in a second. Walked out to take my young daughter to school and the car was gone. I'd forgotten to move the car into my garage the night before! You can't park in uncovered spots overnight. You can't park on the street. Popular? You want overnight guests? Nope. Worse than living with your parents. I did get to know that maintenance staff well because I needed to call multiple times when I first got there because my toilet was defective. I have to believe there are better places to live. This is the last straw. I will be looking for a place where I can walk outside and expect my car will still be there. Crying.
Very helpful and friendly staff! Maintenance staff in particular are excellent in addressing any repair! They will ensure that the repair is done right! The community is very quiet so it is excellent in that respect. Well kept grounds offer a welcome and safe environment for individual and families alike.
