Initially I reviewed my time here as a 5* review. But towards the end of my time at this complex things started to take a turn for the worse. Living next to the mall, rowdy kids would sometimes get into the complex and pull the fire alarm causing the entire place to be cleared until the fire alarm was reset. This was due to the key fobbed doors constantly being broken and unfixed, during my year and a half stay there the gate was working maybe a month or two and the doors maybe a full month. I will give them this, maintenance staff was great at fixing and remedying things quickly if you had a request but they couldn't fix those doors or gates. I left for a promotion and terminated my lease early and they worked with me through that very professionally and I appreciated their help with it. What leaves the worst taste in my mouth is their failure to communicate with me about repair charges after my move out, neither via email nor voicemail. The way I found out about these charges were a nasty phone call by a collections company. Apparently the office decided to write them off AFTER ONLY 10 DAYS, and not even letting it cycle to the next billing month where I would have seen it when checking my RentCafe account at the beginning of every month. No one ever contacted me, notified me, or provided me an opportunity to pay the charges, not through phone calls, emails, or any form of communication. When I called the office months later once I was contacted by the collections agency, I was blamed for not providing a forwarding address (was never asked for one) and then was asked to search my emails to prove that I was the one at fault.

Going on my 2nd year here and I will say even though the rate went up (as all things have) and more than I was hoping it would that is the world we are living in now. There is a new owner of this property and I actually see improvement. The old owners and staff left a big mess for the new owners and staff, but they are doing a great job. The office staff now answer the calls as before no one ever answered the phone and the staff are all friendly.

The issues in our particular apartment began sometime in the six months that it was vacant between October of 2018 and when we moved in on April 1, 2019. During that time, a wire was placed incorrectly and caused two $400 electric bills. The heater and the air conditioner were on simultaneously 24/7. When maintenance came to check it, we were told that warm air coming out of the vents before cool air was “normal” in the middle of May. Getting a response from the management was like pulling teeth. We were made to feel like it was our fault. We were asked if we had left the television on causing a high electric bill. We were asked why didn’t we notice it sooner. We explained that we had gotten married about 3 weeks after moving in and were on our honeymoon for the following week. We simply were not in the apartment enough to notice, We provided spreadsheets of information that we had collected over the previous weeks along with an energy audit report from Garland Power and Light to management. When we told management that our bill was almost four times what all of our neighbors were reporting, we were told we “couldn’t compare”. Almost three months later, we finally got a credit on our rent after we were forced to sign a non-disclosure agreement. We were told that all of this documentation would be placed in our “file” that is unlikely to have ever existed. We placed work orders regarding the doors in the hallways, specifically the door between the stairwell and our hallway. Over the span of a couple weeks it appeared that an attempt was made to repair the door. Within 24 hours each time, it was broken again. In June of 2019, during the course of a conversion with management regarding the door situation, it was mentioned that there was an approved bid to replace all of the interior hallway doors. When we moved out months later, nothing had changed. A work order was placed for the glass globe on the ceiling fan in the bedroom as we noticed it was cracked when we had changed the light bulb. A couple of days later we found the work order signed and marked completed on our counter. We had not granted access into our apartment due to our dog being out and had put in the notes on the work order to call to schedule so we could make arrangements. We were not contacted and had concluded maintenance had come in while no one was home. Had one of us come home to someone we were not expecting in our apartment, the situation would have escalated very quickly.

I love that it is walking distance to shopping and parks. No need to drive when you walk and get your exercise at the same time. Great property.

Do not move to these apartments. We thought we were getting one of the newer apartments and was given an old one. The dishwasher doesn't fit in it's space and it's door won't stay closed unless it's locked. The fire alarm goes off every couple of months waking us up out of our sleep. There never is a fire and it blasts for at least an hour or longer. The windows suck. We can hear every vehicle that drives down the street. I work from home and my customers think I am outside because they can hear the traffic too. I have noise canceling headphones. During the snow storm the windows froze on the inside of the apartment. Every time it rains we have to put towels down at the balcony and windows because water comes in. The caulking around the windows is black. No one in the office is helpful. They do nor answer the phone or the door. My husband went to the office after not getting anyone on the phone. He could see them in there through the door while knocking but no one answered. He called while standing there and no one answered the phone. The walls are thin. You can hear what's going in every room even with doors closed. You can hear conversations in apartments when walking down the hall. These are the worst apartments I have ever lived in.

Management looks the other way when t comes to tenants smoking in this community. Only place I ever rented where smokers are priority. Pretty amazing. Do yourself a favor and dont go on a tour of this place, unless you want to be stuck in a one year lease where you develop breathing issues. Also, the Current Manager works at another site. Its horrendous. I would put zero stars but it doesnt allow it. one star is one star too many.

We welcome all feedback from our residents. As explained on previous occasions, we do not want anyone to be unhappy. Anyone violating community policies does receive violations and further action is taken if the violation continues. There is a process and the situation is resolved legally. It is unfortunate that you are unhappy, please see the leasing office, as we assure you that we will provide options to remedy your situation.
I was once in your shoes and this is where i found these apartments, but please save the headache. I should have known not to move here when i had to follow up to pay my deposit and etc for my apartment. Horrible! If you love confusion and people stealing from your home this is the place for you. The mangers do not respond to anything nor know anything. Very unprofessional. They have a bad roach problem. I had an incident where they hired a company to check on every tenant sprinklers system and money came up missing in my home. Manager did nothing! I don't care if it was $50 it was in my home and its gone, after your people came. So make sure anytime people are scheduled to come in your home hide everything. Different staff every month, no employees last here. I should have done my homework before moving here, this is the worst mistake ever and I wish I could move tomorrow. Also, these are the first apartments i have lived in, if someone has been in your house they do not let you know they have been in your home. Usually, when maintenance has come in your home they leave a paper stating they fixed the problem and showing that they have been in your home. They do what they want here.

This area is not safe! There is random paints vandalized all over the hallway walls. The elevator is marked and scratched with profanity! I don’t understand why the management don’t have surveillance and what is the point of a courtesy officer when this happens over and over again!

I'm currently living at Parkside and I used to love it here when Lincoln. Lincoln was alot better with the residents wateron is a different story. I rather live at a Wal-Mart then being here. Waterton is the worse if you wanna live at a landfill and a waste of time come on in.
Parkside at Firewheel is a very family friendly complex! Every month we receive a calender of events that are happening, during the summer they had Popsicles by the pool, movie under the stars with popcorn, snow cones.... This property is very well maintained, if something is broken or an issue has come up they are quick to answer and repair.
We have been living at Parkside for several months now and love living here. We have even discussed renting the home we are having built out to stay at Parkside! We love being able to walk to the shops, restaurants and bars that Firewheel has to offer. The apartments are well kept and maintenance responds quickly to requests. We have had good experiences with the staff, who always greet us when we come in with a question or to pick up a parcel. The secured parking garages and gated access makes my wife feel safe at home alone. We are always able to find a spot in the garage on our level. There are also on-site secured storage units at very reasonable rates. The community is pet friendly, and comprised mostly of young people/couples and small families. The pools are nice, with BBQ grills and outdoor TV at the Phase 2 pool. The fitness center has nice equipment. The complex also offers group fitness classes and monthly get-togethers around the mall. There are community laundry facilities if you do not own or want to rent a washer/dryer. Utility bills are reasonable, so the units are fairly energy efficient. We never hear our neighbors on either side of us while inside the apartment. We are very happy with our choice to stay at Parkside and feel that they are well worth the price for all the amenities and "walkability." I would recommend this place to anyone looking in this area.

I moved to Parkside when they opened the new buildings in Phase II and I can honestly say this is the best place to live! I love the convenience of having the mall right outside (plus all of their events are nice too). The office staff is who really makes this place one of the best; believe it or not they really do care about everyone who lives here and they try to make sure everyone is happy. Janelle and Rebekah are the best; they have always been there to answer any questions I might have and I know I can trust them not to give me the run around. This is a very dog friendly place and most residents do have pets. I highly recommend this place to anyone its a nice safe place and people are respectful of others.
