Located in central Connecticut, this neighborhood of homes and rentals sits midway between Hartford to the north and New Haven to the south, a 30-minute commute in both directions via highway or the Amtrak rail system. History buffs love the number of National Register of Historical Places in this town, including the former Meriden Curtain Fixture Company factory, a sprawling red brick building converted into the Charles Street Place Apartments.
Outdoor spaces also hold historical landmark status, such as the world-renowned 1,800-acre Hubbard Park from the designers of New York's Central Park. Meriden provides 24 municipal parks, one of the top 10 public golf courses in Connecticut, and three dedicated trails for hiking, biking, and running.
Residents gather at the award-winning Ted's Restaurant, an area staple for over 50 years and home to the first steamed cheeseburger.

Property Ratings at Britannia Commons
I moved out of my apartment at britania to save on rent and it was a huge mistake. You definitely pay for what you get out there. I miss my apartment at britania. It was a big apartment and well taken care of. Where I live now everything is falling apart. I took me to loose my comfort to realize how much they do to keep that place looking nice and in good shape. Can wait to go back at the end of my current lease.
Coming from out of state, I was skeptical about where I was moving to. This is a nice and clean building. Very quiet place to live. The neighbors are nice and respectful. The staff is nice and helpful. My apartment is very beautiful, and it was clean when I moved in. The apartments are large, and the price is great in comparison to everything else in the area. I'm glad I chose this place.
We had mold issues from day 1. It took 3 months to get it fixed. Pool was broken for over a year. They put surprise random charges multiple times, and when we questioned about it they took them off and stated it was an “accident”. They also attempted to charge us for rent months after we left. And charged us twice for multiple things. Hallways are smelly, dark and old. The only good thing is the interior of the actual apartment is very nice and well renovated.
In love with my apartment. I have a renovated one and it’s beautiful. Plan on living here for many years. Neighbors are nice, quiet and friendly.
I’ve been living here for 5 years and I really like living here. Ever since the new office manager Ms. Denise started, I’ve seen huge improvements. The pool is finally fully operating correctly and they remodel the inside of the pool area it’s very nice and clean. The gym has brand new equipment for the residents and the gym is always clean. I like that Ms. Denise put down new carpet in the hallways of the apartment complex. Also the residents has access to the Amazon lockers for our mail and packages. This was a great idea to protect our packages especially during holidays. I would recommend people to live here!
I have moved to Brittiana Commons because the building is beautiful, clean and has an amazing peoperty manager. I was very disturbed to see a bad review. The property manager is very capible and always ontop of any issues. I highly reccomend anyone that wants to move into a beautiful property and has respect for their neighbors.
This is a very nice building. I have lived here for almost two months now. Only thing is I wish is the carpet in the hallway was changed and that people that lived in the building would take care of it. I have seen plenty of people throwing wrappers on the floor and keep walking. Also propping the door open for others and I have a problem with that. If everyone that lived here cared to take care of the building it would be even better. There are only two people taking care of the building and they do a nice job. I have offered to help but they can't have me do stuff because of liability issues. I saw the manager taking trash out and watering the plants and cleaning the hallways. That's something you don't see anywhere. The super helped me bring some of my moving boxes inside as I was struggling moving by myself. So far it's seems as I made the right choice moving here. The building is clean and quiet which was a concern with the fire department being so closed to the building but you can't even hear them.
Terrible place to live. Hallways smell like a kennel, swimming pool never in working condition as well as the elevators. Property manager who also lives in the building stalks your life instead of working she watches the cameras all day. Definitely not worth the money,
I’ve emailed so many timesa, called and left two voicemails. I’ve been trying to inquire about this place but nobody has the decency to even return my phone call or at the very least, email me back. Even if you have nothing available, be professional and reply to the people who are interested in your business.
Lame management, doesn't address any issues in the building. Took a year to fix the indoor pool, trash removal continues to be a joke, we have numerous security issues like broken doors, etc. Do we fix the problem NO we get new carpeting!! They proceeded to clean out my dryer ducts, and it hasn't worked since, I now have to vent into my apartment which means lots of dust and humidity, management suggested that I have to turn on my air conditioner! So six months later (cant find the guy to finish the job) my electric bill goes up every time I do laundry! Parking good luck I will bet you that if you come for a tour you won't find a place rip park, even though we have spaces for that. No one ever gets towed for parking in fire lanes or spots, even though the signs say we do. Hope you like loud neighbors too. NOT WORTH THE PRICE
This was a very good place to live in Meriden and definitely much much better than our last place in terms of it's location (few mins from I-91, 691), amenities and in management staff. The management staff, especially Patricia and Tomas are very friendly and helpful. They take residents' concerns very seriously. We always received prompt response/resolution for any issues from them. I would highly recommend this place.
Great place to live! Quiet, Clean, and Friendly Staff!
Interior of building itself is generally quiet (now that the fire alarms/water sprinkler leaks have been addressed...or at least it seems to be for now). However, the neighborhood is noisy. Amenities are generally good. Maintenance/management can be slow. Parking garage and stairwells are filthy. Smoking is permitted in common areas though signs state the opposite. Apartments are in good shape so it has kept me here a little longer ...for now. We shall see.
