Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward district is a fascinating and architecturally impressive commercial, arts, and residential area with a wealth of creative businesses and artists. Located at the mouth of the Milwaukee river, this former warehouse district has become a booming mixed-use area with a lot of charm.
Located just south of downtown, the Historic Third Ward is on a short peninsula wedged between the convergence of the Milwaukee and Kinnickinnick rivers into Lake Michigan and is adjacent to Milwaukee's famous Summerfest grounds.
The neighborhood is home to award-winning restaurants, the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, dozens of galleries, and unique specialty stores. In 2005, the Milwaukee Public Market opened its doors, showcasing dozens of vendors and artisan culinary specialists.

Property Ratings at Brix Apartment Lofts
We really enjoyed our time at the Brix. Awesome loft style apartment on the top floor had sweeping, gorgeous views of downtown Milwaukee to the lake, Hoan Bridge lights to the south, with lots of light all year round. The grills and rooftop park on site are great for after work cocktails, too. Lots of food and restaurants are nearby. Brew Fitness in the basement was a huge plus, especially in winter time. Modern amenities, plenty of parking and a relaxed building made for some great times and memories here.
I honestly loved living at the Brix and the only reason we moved is because we left the city. The staff is so sweet, friendly and great at what they do. I never had a delay with mail/packages, service requests were taken seriously and promptly addressed, and the property always felt safe and clean. The location is so walkable and around so many restaurants, bars and shopping. I loved being across a bridge to the 3rd Ward so I never had to search for parking. We even walked to and from Summer Fest. The apartment itself was awesome and had a ton of natural light. I never heard my neighbors on any side of us so it was very private. The city view was a show stopper and we loved having people over to see their reaction for their first time.
Our daughter just signed on for a 3rd year at Brix??She has lived in 2 different units a 3 bedroom and a 2 bedroom. Both units are spacious with sweeping city views and HUGE windows that flood the units with natural light. Rooftop green space, grills, and community room amenities are unmatched in an urban setting! Common areas are always immaculate. Parking garage is heated, clean and safe. Cindy and all management have been wonderful. From welcome treat packages at move in to Bartolatta gift cards when they cleaned the windows, to prompt maintenance... all top notch. A roommate dropped something on their glass cooktop recently and broke it and Brix did NOT make her pay for the new cooktop! Having a cider bar, a second gym and a patisserie in the same building is so great too. Also next to iconic Iron Hotel for summer drinks in the “yard” or cozy Winter Brunch is amazing! Surrounding neighborhood is wonderful for young and old alike... tons of great eateries and quick access to lakefront, summer fest, 3rd ward etc. As we begin our search for our second daughter’s own home in MKE Brix is the standard we measure everything else to! Thank you Cindy and Brix??
These apartments are beautiful inside and out, it is awesome that they kept so much of the original charm of the building from when it was a candy factory. I love coming into the building, I always enjoy lobby, halls, and especially the great room and outdoor patio space. The apartments have HUGE windows with tons of light, and I can't say enough kind words about the office personnel - they will bend over backwards to do whatever they can for you! It really feels like home!
Overpriced and undersized apartment lofts with little to no storage. With a neighborhood that has a ton to offer, you can find a better option with openings and more favorable pricing. If you're on the north side of the building, you will hear the train and it is loud. Management doesn't do anything to make up for the high prices. When faced with a small and simple issue, management gets extremely defensive and will blame the tenant for the problem. Management does nothing to address noise complaints. Receiving your packages here is a complete disaster. Don't expect any help or sympathy if your property suddenly goes missing or is misplaced while in custody of the management office. On top of being expensive and having poor customer service, Brix was happy to take their last chunk of flesh from our security deposit to clean a "dirty" glass shower door. As original tenants that paid rent and occupied the apartment for over three years, it wasn't reasonable to make everything look brand new again. This is considered normal wear and tear. The grills and the 3rd floor patio were the bright spots in this building. With so many other local options, go somewhere else to spend your money on rent!
I would not suggest living here if you have the expectation of receiving your mail on time or at all for that matter. It is very common for packages to be delayed because the office is unorganized and negligent. Many times, I have gone into the office asking for a delivered package and they have not been able to find it despite it being in the office. They are not interested in bettering their system although it is obviously problematic for their tenants. Recently, they signed for an important and expensive package of mine and lost it. Although they signed for it and notified me of its arrival, they were unable to find it when I showed up to pick it up. Unfortunately for me that package contained my wedding band. They have not found it and after reaching out to their attorney decided they will not be replacing it because our lease says they are not liable. That is a very poor way to treat your tenants. When you sign your lease you assume that the fine print that says they are not liable for lost packages means that they will at least try not to lose your package. Unfortunately, at Brix that means that they will not be making honest attempts to protect your property. I will certainly not be resigning at Brix. Milwaukee has many properties that offer far better services and care about protecting your property.
Property Manager at Brix Apartment Lofts, Responded To This Review
We truly value our residents and as the Brix Building Manager I have spent a number of hours over the past 2 months in a effort to assist in obtaining reimbursement for the residents. There were 2 packages delivered for the residents within an approximate 1-1 1/2 week time frame, one that was picked up by the resident the other which I signed for. Due to it's size I requested the US Postal Carrier place in resident's mailbox. When it was determine the package was missing I began the process the interface with the USPS. Including filing a claim on behalf of the resident as well as following up on numerous occasions to determine if they might cover the cost beyond the standard $50 Priority Insurance. As part of the process proof was provided to the USPS Manager that we had found a number of misplaced pieces of mail during the time frame the fill in carrier was here. The response I recieved after several meetings the manager had with the carrier was she just doesn't remember what she did with the package. Unfortunately I was advise late last week the residents only option was to file an insurance claim for the $50 coverage. Cindy Evinrude Brix Property Manager
This apartment is brand new and in a great neighborhood. It is built into an old candy factory and is really neat inside. Huge apartments. Huge Windows. It is still being worked on but it suppose to have some neat amenities soon like a elevated garden and a fitness center. It's along a railroad which means it can be load sometimes especially if you like your windows open. Overall its pretty neat if you can deal with some loud trains. Still dealing with some construction issues too.
