A mere six miles east of Huntsville, University/Research Park hosts one of the world's leading science and technology business parks. Central to the area's economy, Cummings Research Park brings together Fortune 500 companies and U.S. space and defense agencies with the best and brightest from local universities to create a premier center for research and technology. Townhomes and condos form the bulk of the rentals, meaning there’s something for families, students, and professionals alike.
This area has become a research hub for both government agencies such as NASA as well as private corporations including Lockheed and IBM. The abundance of research jobs in addition to the local educational institutions created the need for housing to accommodate the workers, students, and educators.

Property Ratings at Brixworth at Bridge Street
I have lived at Brixworth for coming up on five months now. If you're considering - don't. No one ever in main office, maintenance slower than Christmas, decrepit water heaters, A/C units, and kitchen appliances, and will leave your house a wreck indefinitely should maintenance ever actually get around to you. To start, my appliances work so inefficiently (broken water heater, ancient A/C unit) that MY ELECTRICITY BILLS HAVE BEEN OVER $500 PER MONTH FOR A 1 BED 1 BATH since I moved in here. I can hardly imagine the problem magically appeared when I moved in, so I'm sure they just didn't bother to fix it when the last tenant escaped. I've also experienced their outright negligence in handling repairs on my unit. Currently my broken washer/dryer is in my kitchen blocking access to my pantry (no replacement W/D either), and has been for a week with no contact from property management despite me reaching out on multiple occasions. No need to wash clothes or eat in your own apartment, am I right? There are giant holes in my walls throughout my kitchen, bathroom, and closet due to unfinished maintenance on pipes to do with broken water heater. I wonder when rats and roaches will start to infest my house, since I have yet to see pest control here in 5 months (for which I pay a monthly fee, go figure) and it's beginning to get cold outside. Also, my old moldy water heater has been sitting outside my living room window for a week, and my neighbor has had a nasty old toilet in front of theirs for over a month at least. It's bizarre and disgusting. Wouldn't recommend this place to anybody, unless you really like filth. Hoping this review will help others and might get me a response from management about my construction-zone apartment.

Hello, Please reach out to the leasing office at 256-830-6950 to further discuss the issues that you are experiencing. We are happy to help resolve any pest/rodent issues. Thank you, -The Brixworth Team
This has to be the absolute worst apartment building in Alabama. We lived there six months and that was too long. This place should pay people to stay here instead us paying them. From Roaches, gopher rats this place should be closed down ! No response from office and they lied saying I would not allow them to come into apartment for pest or maintenance I even took two days off waiting for maintenance and pest control . Never rent from these people the smell of cigarettes and marijuana was sickening
Love this community! It is right next to Bridgestreet outdoor shopping mall. I highly recommend leasing a unit with a sun room, especially if you are a plant lover like me!

Thanks for the positive review! We are happy you enjoy the community and to have you here as a resident. Our location really is the best kept secret in town :)
I have lived in 5 different complexes in Huntsville, and I can easily say Brixworth is the absolute worst. Buildings are falling apart (literally). LARGE holes in my roof/ceiling (not fixed for ~ a month), giant leaks in living room and bedroom, completely rotted front of building, mold in attic due to all the leaks and water damage, creaky uneven floors. Property manager tends to hire bad (most likely cheap) contractors who don’t fix the problem the first time, and then have to come back and redo their work. Both my roommate and I became sick from mold in our attic. Property manager denied the mold until I sent pictures as proof. She then tried to tell us that mold is not green…I could not believe what I was hearing. Apartment was filthy when we moved in. There were pennies and bobbypins in toilets. Walls are paperthin, so it sounds like people are having conversations inside your apartment from outside. I hear babies crying, shouting matches, puking, dogs barking as clear as day in my apartment, and we are on the 2nd floor. GIANT roach infestation These roaches are large, fast, and not afraid of you. I remember talking to my roommate about all of the roaches and at that moment one crawled down onto the carpet from her foot. You cannot make this stuff up. The air would continuously run and would never get below 78 on sunny days. It is part due to terrible design of air units, located in closet of one of the bedrooms. Expect it to drip on your stuff. Eventually our AC caught fire. I came home to my apartment filled with smoke and smelling of burnt electrical wires. Water is shut off often (whole complex is on one water line, so one leak requires shutting off everyone’s water) Due to the poorly insulated walls/windows and old nature of buildings, expect to pay over $150 in summer for electric, water over $60 to $70. Giant fly (horsefly sized) infestation Flies were giant and would fly directly at you. Couldn’t sleep in apartment since there were many in my bedroom. Apparently they are born from decomposing corpses implying something died in the walls. The last three maintenance requests I submitted were marked as completed when they had not been. Front gate doesn’t work. For your own health and safety, DO NOT GET AN APARTMENT HERE. Unless these buildings are torn down and rebuilt, or some actual time and money is put into fixing them properly, there is really no hope for this complex. I hope this review helps someone avoid a bad situation.

First and foremost, we would like to thank you for taking the time to leave a detailed review of your experience. We do value our residents as well as all of their concerns especially in regards to health and safety. We value our hardworking maintenance staff and all they do in order to maintain our property. We do agree that our location can't be beat! We have spoken with you in person regarding all of your listed concerns. We would like to inform you that since your residency, we have made extensive exterior repairs on property. These include property wide woodwork and new exterior paint throughout as well as extensive repairs to our gate system. Since, we have also began a new contract with a new pest control company. This company services weekly and is completely free to all residents. We are very excited about all of our recent improvements and have many plans for additional improvements within the upcoming year. We regret to hear that Brixworth did not meet your expectations and hope you are pleased with your new residency. Best wishes!

Hey there, We are so happy to hear that you enjoy being a part of our Brix Fam!! Thank you for your kind words - we hope that there will be many more years here for you. :) - Brixworth Leasing Staff
***OUR APARTMENT WAS BROKEN INTO*** You don't want to live here. So many of the complaints already mentioned also happened to us: ceiling leaking (as well as water leaking from a light fixture- seems like a huge safety concern but this was never properly repaired) and the hot water heater flooded our closet ruining some of our things... This place was a disappointment from the moment we moved in. It was dirty and updated so poorly and, sure, the gate was always broken and the pool was down the first half of the summer. But the ultimate reason for us wanting to move out asap was WE WERE BROKEN INTO. A guy busted down the door while my husband was sleeping. They NEVER REPAIRED THE DOOR. A maintenance guy came in and rigged it (he used the same piece of busted trim by simply nailing it back to the wall) to close and lock and said this would be temporary, but never returned. We gave them notice and asked if we could break our lease, but they would not allow it. We received zero sympathy or compassion for the traumatizing experience. If this was a decent place, I don't doubt that they would have let us leave a few months early given the circumstances (because most places have waiting lists of people who actually want to get into their apartment complex.) But no one truly wants to live here if they know anything about it and this place is desperate to keep residents because it's turning into a pit.
I've lived here for three years, and started having consistent problems in the past year that have only gotten worse. I moved into a new unit where I was misled into thinking that it had been renovated, and it had not been, not a huge deal but still disappointing after already signing the lease. After getting settled, we noticed a few problems that we needed maintenance to come and look at - leaky faucet, broken lock on the patio door, very loose railing on the porch. It took weeks to get maintenance out which is extremely frustrating given that I work 30 minutes away from home and I have a dog, so I have to make arrangements whenever maintenance needs to come in. I came home from work early on three different occasions thinking that they were coming to work on things, and no one ever showed up. Finally they showed up after multiple attempts. When summer time rolled around, the pool was conveniently closed for the first half of the summer, then when it was finally opened, it's so nasty we can't even use it. The one time we used it, there was hair all in the pool, and you could see a film on top of the water. A couple of weeks ago, Brixworth starts calling me at work telling me they're trying to get into the apartment and couldn't get in because of my dog. There was no notice given, and they apparently needed in because of a maintenance issue, that at the time seemed to be an emergency. I rushed home from work in the middle of the day, called and let them know that I was home, and then almost an hour later someone shows up and comes in for five minutes to tell me they can't find the problem. Last week, I came home to a note in my door from a debt collector, saying I hadn't paid my rent and I now owe them a $75 dollar late fee. This came as a huge surprise, given that my rent came out of my bank account three days prior to this notice. I took the letter to the office, along with my bank statement, and email with receipt of payment. Of course there was someone in the office I had never seen before, and she assured me that it would be straightened out. It's now almost a week later, I haven't heard anything back from Brixworth, and now my online portal shows me owing rent AGAIN, right above where it shows I paid rent on the 1st, as well as a late fee. Mistakes like this that can affect someone's credit, should absolutely not be happening. Also there's never any parking, the gate doesn't work, and a building burned down that just sat there, burnt, for months.
Property Manager at Brixworth at Bridge Street, Responded To This Review
We apologize for any issues you may have had on the transfer process. Any time a maintenance request is put in, all animals must be crated. This is not a new policy. The reason you received a late notice was because you had posted a payment on your old unit, resulting in still owing balance in the current apartment. However we did reach out and have it moved over so It is resolved - the online portal will not reflect until we have completed migration. The mistake was that you posted the payment to wrong unit, which was explained. We sent an email to you discussing the matter after we tried calling you.
I would very strongly suggest taking your money elsewhere. I have been here 5 months and if it wasn’t so expensive to get out my lease I would have done it by now. I have put in a work order every month and not for minor problems. I have experienced a overflow of roaches in the unit and the staff has done nothing to help me with the problem . The gate is never working , a building has burnt down , and there has been a shooting in the complex all while I’ve been here in such short time. If I could give this place no stars I would , take your money and get far away from this over priced dump!! (Currently watching my bathroom ceiling fall apart , which is prob due to a leak)
Property Manager at Brixworth at Bridge Street, Responded To This Review
Thank you for your review! We do not see a name or number so if you are still having issues, we'd like to discuss. Please call us at the office so we can get these resolved for you. Thank you!
Mislead. Pushed us back from seeing dirty, infested apartment with terrible paint job last minute. They suggested that wed stomp on pests and brush preexisting roaches to the side. We should've known better after the suspicious delays.
Property Manager at Brixworth at Bridge Street, Responded To This Review
We hate to hear that your experience has been anything less than wonderful. We are completely taken aback to hear about this and assure you that this is not our standard of business. We would definitely like to discuss your experience in more detail. Please give our office a call so we can set up a time to discuss your experience in person. -The Brixworth at Bridge Street Team
I recently relocated to Brixworth, and I've been VERY happy with the decision. This place has a lot going for it that most people overlook when considering an apartment home. You can get anywhere in minutes from here, because it's spitting distance from access to 255 & I-565, the Arsenal, and The Shoppes at Bridge Street. But, perhaps the biggest amenity is Brixworth's mature hardwood trees. Most apartment complexes don't have 'em, much less big ol' oaks, maples, magnolias, dogwood, and others. I love my floor plan, the staff, and my neighbors, and I'm definitely settling in for the long haul.

I’m Jaime and I live in on of the buildings here at Brixworth. It is amazing! People love coming to my home and seeing how spacious and beautiful it is. This was the best loving decision I’ve made

Jaime, Thank you so much for your fantastic review!! We are so happy to have you!
Brixworth is within 5-15 minutes to basically anywhere in Huntsville. The apartments have large walk-in closets, washer and dryer in each unit, and a decent size storage area on the balcony. The prices are decent. The office staff is nice and fast at responding to questions and concerns. There is a park and a track right beside the apartments which is a great place to go exercise. The main issue I have experienced is the parking. Sometimes in the back part of the complex, it is hard to find a parking spot remotely near your building. Most of the time it is not bad, but there have been occasions where it has been. Overall, it is a nice convenient place to live.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are so lucky to have you as a resident. We definitely realize parking can be a headache sometime, and we are always brainstorming ways to make our property more convenient for our residents! Thank you for being a wonderful part of our community (:
All of the staff are always extremely friendly and helpful. They answer any questions you may have in a timely manner. The maintenance people are awesome and respond quickly. The apartments are good-sized and the layout is pretty functional. The 2 bedroom apartment can fit 4 people and 2 dogs relatively comfortably! The kitchen is rather small but it isn't a deal-breaker. The complex is very pet-friendly!

If you are a masochistic fan of low rent with considerably lower expectations, Brixworth is the place for you. If you like to be plagued with terrible apartment management, crime, and vermin, look no further. Besides the dishonest and disorganized management, their maintenance department is basically useless. Before I moved in, I told management, that I would only reside at Brixworth if they had automatic bill pay. After numerous calls to their office and emails to enter my name into their website so I may set up the automatic bill pay, they only fixed it after putting up a notice on my door that my rent was due and after I had a discussion that I am trying to pay my rent. Also, when I complained that there was a strong urine smell from the air ducts, the maintenance department explained that squirrels had gotten into their system and urinated, and they told me nothing could be done about it. If it seems like this is far from the sky falling, that happened as well. The ceiling material would fall on you while you are on the toilet which can quite literally scare things out of you. The maintenance department tried unsuccessfully to spray sealant on the ceiling to stop it, but in the end I had to simply pretend that it was just a white Christmas. Ultimately, the crime played a big factor in my decision to move as soon as possible. After numerous shootings in the area, and my power being cut off for a swat situation, I decided that it was time to relocated. To solidify my choice, nephew even had his car broken into. Finally, the roaches that inhabit Brixworth are large enough that I question the proximity of Brixworth to a nuclear power plant. Their size is not only the troubling thing about the roaches; their number is of Biblical proportions. During Fall, you can see the ground move in the headlights of your car at night, and trust me, they make it inside your apartment as well. My girlfriend is still traumatized by an incident where one of the massive flying roaches that should have died out in the KT extinction landed on her face. If you don't want to experience the plagues of Brixworth, find any other place, and tell them, "Let my people go"

We are sorry that this your experience at Brixworth has been anything less than wonderful. We want to clear up any confusion about SWAT turning off the power. That was due to the Huntsville Utilities completing some work nearby for a couple of hours. We have in our records that no outstanding requests are present, or went present for more than 48 hours, but if this is inaccurate, please come let us know and we will get them solved ASAP! We would love to further clear up any confusion that there still might be in person! Or if you prefer, please call our office at 256-830-6950.
Very old and not worth the amount you have to pay. I liveUtilities bills was extremely high because of old infrastructure it could never seem to get warm enough . Does not look like model apartment

I refuse to live here due to the lack of care their leasing agents seem to have towards 'future' residents. My first experience was horrendous, having a floor plan diagram shoved in my face after having to ask for it since there were no 1-bedroom floor plans available to show. The girl was just plain rude and obviously held no enthusiasm for her job. I called about two weeks later to hopefully get some pricing information and actually got to speak to someone who was knowledgeable and professional. She informed me there was a 1-bedroom floor plan that I could view and to just come in whenever I liked. One week later I walk in to do so and...lo and behold...no floor plan to view and the same rude girl saying it had 'probably' been leased already. She then promptly started shoving me towards other complexes. Do. Not. Live. Here.
This was the worst decision I made to move to this community based on convenience. I would rather drive an hour to work then to deal with this type of service. Maintenance is lazy it takes them weeks for what most communities take days to do. The staff is rude and they talk to you as if they were talking to a child. The apartments are thrown together everything falls apart they just painted over everything nothing was sanded down. The model looks nothing like your apartment they took pride it making that look good but your apartment will look like a child could have done a better paint job. If you read this review beware of this complex.
I'll start with the good. The staff are polite and welcoming. Our questions have never gone unanswered. Maintenance is prompt and well-prepared. We never hear our neighbors and we feel safe here with the gate closed at night. Our apartment is a decent size with an alright layout: the closets and laundry room are large, the patio is comfortable, the living room is decent although we are not fond of the fireplace, especially since it's wood-burning. Having the washer/dryer included was a huge plus. Onto the bad. ROACHES ROACHES ROACHES SPIDERS ROACHES! Our building is horribly infested. I get that it's Alabama in the summer, but dear god it's obvious no one is spraying the buildings. Don't walk around the buildings at night. Coming back with groceries after dark means shooing roaches away from the door and praying I don't touch one or step on one on the way. There are spider webs and egg sacs EVERYWHERE in the causeway. We keep our apartment clean and sprayed and keep the doors and windows closed always but I've still killed my fair share of BIG roaches inside. I hate it so much and it's a big part of the reason we won't be renewing our lease. The air conditioner is weak. We've tinkered and replaced the filter, but no cigar. It runs, but it's still too warm. Utilities run expensive, partially because of the air conditioner, partially because of the old bulbs and lack of energy efficiency. The only cable/internet provider is Comcast.you can use Dish for cable but satellite restrictions are rough. WOW is better and cheaper, but you can't have it here. Brixworth was a decent apartment, but rent is hiking next lease and it just isn't good enough to justify the cost.
I love my apartment! It's really quiet out here and my neighbors are super nice. Alot of my coworkers also live here since it's so close to our building. They have a huge dog park that my dogs love to play in and a big park behind the complex that we walk to every day. I'm maybe 10 minutes from downtown and a stones-throw from Bridge Street Town Center. The only complaint I have so far is that I go shopping too much now!

There are new appliances and the hardwood - look- a - like floors give even more character and charm to the apartment. There is decorative-accent lighting over the bar. There is also a fire place in the living area. Personally, for us, that is a down fall, though most people would likely list that as a plus. We just have a very large, projection screen TV, which forced us to cover up the fire place with the TV. The living space is spacious though. The dinning area also had nice accent lighting and is large enough for our 4' X 4' square table, but not big enough for anything larger. A washer and dryer is included and the laundry area is very large with shelving above the appliances. The bedrooms are spacious. However, we did have to change our master-bedroom to the slightly smaller room because the master-bedroom is located right next to the front door/walkway and our neighbor likes to stand outside and talk loudly on her phone, which we could hear as we tried to sleep. Also, we could hear others as the walked down the breezeway if they were talking. There is lots of closet space. The bathtubs actually have very nice shower-heads and good water pressure. Our unit has a balcony, that is quite and nice to sit out on, with a large tree near by to shade the sun. There is also additional storage off the the balcony area. Satellite dishes are allowed, but there are a lot of rules to how they can be installed. Because of the large tree, we do not get a line of sight, so therefore had to switch to cable, which we do not care for so much. The internet providers for this area are limited. Even with finding the highest speed of internet we could, we still have a data-cap, and there's just nothing we can do about it. We're about 20 feet from the tennis court. The swimming pool is located close to every apartment, right in the middle, and it really is a lovely pool. There are very nice grills located at the pools. The gym is near the pool. It isn't huge, but there is plenty of equipment to do what you need as well as TVs. The staff is super nice and helpful.

There is a park located right behind us. I haven't been yet, but there appears to be a play area for children and a walking track. The parking situation can get frustrating at times. There are no assigned spots and sometime you have to park a little ways away in order to find the closest spot to your unit. However, with that said, it's never too much of a problem.

Not worth the cost! You can hear everything your neighbors do and smell everything they cook. Maintenance is rude and lazy. When I moved in half of the window screens were missing and a year later there are still no screens. The dog park is flea infested. The gym is never maintained and is disgusting. Individual apartments are not well maintained (the door frame to one of my bathrooms had been chewed up by an animal and just painted over). This place looks much better than it is.

The apartments units are very nice. They have been recently remodeled and have a very sleek design. The updates give the apartment more charm and such a better change than the usual plain white walls and generic feel of other apartments.
