Property Ratings at Broad Street Commons
It has it's flaws, but so does every apartment complex. It's a college town in the north country - there's going to be bugs, internet issues during winter, and kids being rowdy regardless of where you locate. The building is constantly being renovated in small ways that do matter. It also has good incentives to be an active part of the community which is nice. The common areas such as the game room and fitness center are fun touches. It's a good place to start.
Best part is that it’s furnished. This could be a very successful property if management could have a remodel. Property manager on site ruins this place. Have had many issues that barely get attention. Roaches in my first apartment. Had a broken fridge for a month. They will move in strangers with you & give you no warning. Will enter your apartment with no warning or consent; that’s probably the worst one. Place isn’t super well cared for. Barely cleaned between tenants. Overall, if you can manage the management & need a furnished apartment, it’s not a bad place. They relatively leave you alone as long as you pay rent. Heating in all rooms is good. I got a nice view & basically all the furniture I need, so it’s not too bad. Could be better but certainly could be worse. Rent price would be more worth it if there was a pool.
I lived at Broad Street Commons for a semester prior to becoming a student at SUNY Plattsburgh and loved it then. Once I officially transferred in I loved it even more. Fully furnished apartment, utilities included into rent, tons of amenities, and the building is pretty much the Plattsburgh State campus.
I had lived in dorms, in a house, and at BSC during my time at SUNY Plattsburgh. BSC was definitely the best. The rent is a little higher, but when so much is included in it, it definitely evens out. The security and events they have there make it even more worth the value. 100% recommend, especially with the new management company.
