Property Ratings at Broadstone Heights
I like my actual apartment. However, issues are piling up. Non-optional fees continue to grow as the rent goes up. Typical corporate landlord playbook: we pay $25+ for a "trash valet." We've just been told we suddenly have to pay $69 a month for their Internet provider, no option to opt out and use what we've been using before. Other CAM fees continue. Finding a "free" parking spot is an issue, but there are plenty of covered spots you can pay for. The prices are getting nauseatingly high. Packages are often difficult to get. They arrive at the front office and then are never seen again. I've seen the woman in the front office threaten eviction to people who complain about missing packages - according to her, keeping track of packages is not their concern. However at the same time, we're not allowed into the mail room to find our own packages. The gates are often broken. The key fobs we were given apparently do nothing. We have no idea when maintenance has come in to work on something. In previous apartments, we'd get notices if they came in and tried to fix something for a work order. Here they just come and go with no notices given. There's plenty of empty apartments here. Grotesque.

Management is awful, rude, and treat the tenants as if they must do what management wants them to do because they signed a lease and not as if they are there (and paid to be there) to help you... Instead they police you for every little infraction. Too many decorations outside your door? notification. Things they won't do or won't do in a timely manner: fix the gates (they WILL break again), get the pool open (it will close again, does every year and apparently its a thing), get rid of pests, fix the steps, make more parking spots (they actually took parking spots away when there already wasn't enough??). The posts on here that name a particularly person as being "good" in the front office - are probably fake and written by them or their friends. So I wouldn't trust that at all. Honestly it's a little scary how the owner must read these and defends them but blows off their tenants... yikes. Run away from here.

Thank you for your kind comment about our team! We really appreciate you taking the time to leave a wonderful review!
Upon applying for this apartment I was treated very kindly. However after I signed on a dootted line I've had nothing but a horrible experience living in this complex. The staff is extremely rude and unhelpful. You can never get the name of corporate or the boss of the manager contact information and you're told that they will contact you which never happens. They advertised new renovations however the blinds I have been still waiting for for 2 years is yet to happen. You are forced to pay a $25 trash fee which is supposed to come and pick your garbage up Sunday through Thursday however often they skip and yet you are still charged. And contacting the apartment you're told to call the number on the side of the garbage can and they have nothing to do with it yet they are the one charging me the $25 fee. Anytime you address any matter with the complex they become extremely defensive, put things back in your lap rather than accepting responsibility, on top of credit shaming. I believe I'm at a point I'm going to contact an attorney to get out of my lease. This place is an overpriced joke!

We do our best to make sure every interaction we have with residents is a productive and respectful interaction. We are disappointed that you had less than this. Please do come visit with the office and I personally promise that we will do the very best we can to resolve the issues you mentioned. Pertaining to the Valet Trash Service, it is true that they have a customer service line for issues. It has proven to be the best means of transmitting complaints. However, if I can find a work around to resolve your Valet issues I will do exactly that. We don't want for you to perceive us as defensive and I guarantee that if I don't have all of the answers we will look higher when necessary. Thank you for your patience and again please visit with me to find a way to make your home more comfortable and give you the best customer service that you deserve.
Hello, the application process for renting the apartment is easy. Once they have you sign a few documents, you are stuck under their terms as you would anywhere.I had to relocate as the prices increased. I had to pay $6000 to break the lease. It seems that really anywhere in Abq, they hire someone who isn’t invested in the tenants and will offer zero options. My experience with broadstone apartments wasn’t great. Also, the community is not the friendliest. No one talks to each other or even makes eye contact for that matter. Good luck in you search

We are sorry to hear that your experience was not how you expected it to be. We strive to provide the best customer service to all, and are disappointed that we let you down. It is true that breaking a lease agreement is expensive. We are certainly sorry to see you go, and wished that you would not have had to break your lease. We will definitely use this critique to make sure we do better when it comes to customer service and showing how much we care. We wish you only the best!
I have lived here for two and a half years and am very happy here. I have had nothing but good experiences with the office and maintenance staff, receiving considerate and timely response to any concerns I have brought to their attention. Thank you to Charly and Angela and Susan and James and Leonard as well as some previous staff here for friendly, respectful, and professional treatment of me as long as I have lived here.

VERY UNSAFE PLACE TO STAY. OVERPRICED. STAFF IS RUDE. DONT COME TO THIS PLACE!! First I had my mail box violated and everything inside stolen. Talked to the staff and they only placed a gate on the mail box. There are multiple entrances to the complex that are wide open and anyone can get in and out without any restrictions (this is going on for a year and they never tried to fix it). Today I had my car stolen inside of the complex, I went to talk to the staff about it and to request a new remote control to get inside of the complex (for my rented car). The staff was extremely rude almost blaming me for having my car stolen, saying " you shouldn't leave anything inside of your car, this is albuquerque, I don't have any remote to give to you and now I need to order new remotes..." as if this was the biggest problem in the earth (!! my car was just stolen !!). Price is almost the same as other better and newer places in the neibohood like Olympus encantada. Gym equipment is old, as well the appliances on the apartment, during this year I had to deal with multiple water leaks, malfunctioning air-condition. PLEASE DONT COME TO THIS PLACE!!!!! THERE ARE MUCH BETTER OPTIONS AROUND.
Poor responsiveness to any issues. My smoke detector alarmed at 3am and no emergency maintenance available. Don't bother paying for covered parking, just take it for free. They don't care. Problems within complex will not be addressed. Terrible.

We are so sorry to hear that you have not received the customer service that everyone deserves here at our community. This is very uncharacteristic of our staff. We want all of our residents to feel comfortable and at home. Please visit the office at your convenience so we may address any maintenance requests and work toward improving your experience in our community. Thank you.
I am unsure of her name. Went in for a tour and info and was treated like we couldn’t afford the place and was constantly told it had to be a quick Tour and rushed through everything. It was terrible. We will not be choosing this place.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are sorry you had a negative experience, we strive to provide excellent customer service and we are sorry we missed the mark. If you'd like to stop by our office again, we would love the opportunity to rectify our mistake.
I would not recommend that anyone live here!! I can hardly wait until my lease is up.. worst experience i have ever had in my life. My apartment was broken into the first week i was here. Noise is reduculus if you dont mind hearing stomping that sounds like you live under jarasic park, slaming of cabnet doors, the walls are so thin that you hear everything from the apartments around you. If you live on the lower levels you hear your neibors going to the bathroom! Yuck!! The gates work when they want, roaches, ants, spiders. DISGUSTING.!! I have had to spray for bugs but they are comming from the trash area!!! Complaints fall on deaf ears. And if you file a complaint about anything you will be treated extremely rude. Also if you ever want to have friends or family over watch out you will be harassed about that as well. Be careful with your water bill!! And for the maitince staff well they are rude and do nothing but ride around in the golf cart. When you walk around the complex there is dog droppings everywhere, weeds everywhere, bird droppings all over the place. I Wished i would have read the reviews before i moved in. Very bad decision. If i could i would rate the apartments a zero!!! Luxuary apartments ya right!! Very far from it!! Be careful if you choose to live here!!! You will regret it from the first week you are here. Be careful of some neibors they will watch you as they have nothing better to do. Well its your choice but honesty keep looking you will find someting way better.

If I could give a negative rating I would... My husband and I lived here for about 5 months while we looked for a house. The staff is snarky- especially the maintenance staff. There was ALWAYS something broken in the apartment. First the ceiling was leaking, then the water heater went out 4 different times, then the fridge wouldn't get below room temp, then the ceiling was leaking AGAIN and this time they made a hole in the ceiling in our entryway that was never repaired. We finally bought a house and it was $3,081 PLUS 30 days of rent to leave this place. Wow. We moved out about 2 weeks prior to the end of our final 30 days. My husband went to clean the apt and do the final walk through. When he was throwing away trash, the maintenance employee berated him at the dumpster arguing with him that he could not throw his trash in the dumpster. We pay $25 a month to throw our trash in the dumpster and are residents, so yes we can. Then the maintenance employee called the office to "file a complaint" on my husband to move his truck. It was fully parked in a spot that were told to park in from the day we moved in and have been parking in for the last 5 months. The office called him and told him to move his truck IMMEDIATELY. He was ready for the walk through and asked if they could just do that now and then he will just leave. She said "NO! Move your truck now". He moved the truck off premises- that we are still paying for- and then was asked to wait for another 30 minutes for her to "be ready" for the walk through. She was snarky during the process and made a comment about a few nail holes in the wall and an additional charge. We were told at move in to "make it our home, nail holes are fine". I called the office later that day to ask about the additional charge and ask why she and her staff were so rude to my husband. She continued to argue with me that she is not rude and she will need to "consult with the maintenance manager on the wall holes"....so the man that just accosted my husband at the garbage. Of course. I still don't know what these "additional charges" will be since she hung up on me. Yes Kristin- the best way to show that you are NOT rude is to hang up on someone. Keep looking- I know you can find somewhere with reasonable staff and operational apartments.

When I first looked at the complex I was told the they would bill monthly for water/trash. I ask how much that was, Heather the assistant manager said the units were individually metered, so the less I used the lower the bill would be. If she had been truthful, the answer would be the actual water usage and numerous taxes and fees. In truth my water usage was usually never over 8 or 9 dollars, but the true total was $55 or higher. The apartment I was shown and eventually moved into was on the far south of the property, bordering on Holly st. The road noise is horrendous! You hear all of the traffic on Holly, 24x7 and all of the noise from Paseo Del Norte. There are lots of drag races on both streets in the middle of the night. When I signed my lease Heather told me the rent would go up next year if I chose to stay. I ask how much and she said no more than 20 to 25 dollars. The next year rolled around and the rent went up by $40. Of course she somehow forgot all about the conversation we had. My advice, if you are unwise enough to move into this property, have EVERYTHING spelled out in writing! I should also mention that the first summer and into the next spring, the temperature in my apartment was a hot and sweaty 80 to 85 degrees. There is no insulation and if you call maintenance they come by and say that just the way it is. It wasn't until PNM came out and disconnected the A/C from their power saver program that I get the temp down to about 75. Be careful at night as the grounds are very dark and dangerous, very little light. I moved out on 3/31/17 and I got a statement charging me for rent and charges for April.... for this complex it's all about the profitts.
The apartment complex is very nice, clean and well maintained. The floor plans have very nice and large bathrooms. The complex itself is very close to grocery stores (walking distance), however the only thing I take issue with is that parking can be tight in the evening when everyone comes home from work. They do rent reserved covered spaces and garages, but that is extra.
