Property Ratings at Brookdale on the Park
I recently lived at this apartment complex in ground floor unit .I would like to share my experience to help future residents make an informed decision and shop around for better apartment. Maintenance and Insulation Issues: One of the most significant issues was maintenance. we faced was the poor insulation in the main bedroom and some of the maintenance staff did not seem to know what there were doing at one point put in several request before A/C was changed kept having to call in for them to get heat working . During the winter, the main bedroom was extremely cold due to the insufficient insulation of the bedroom window. See picture below. Maintenance informed us that the window could not be replaced during the winter and provided a heater as a temporary solution. Unfortunately, this led to a noticeable increase in our electric bill. Each morning, we would find ice and snow accumulating on the inside of the window, which was quite concerning. Bathroom Maintenance: The bathroom had mold growing in the tub area. Instead of properly treating the mold, maintenance merely added grout over it. Consequently, the mold kept reappearing, and we were advised to pour bleach on it, which is not an ideal solution, especially for families with children. Laundry Facilities: The washing machine and dryer in our unit were very very old and inefficient. It often took several cycles to get our clothes dry, which was quite inconvenient. An upgrade to more energy-efficient appliances is definitely needed. Heating and Air Flow: The main bedroom was very cold throughout the winter, and we were told that the air flow doesn’t reach the back bedroom effectively. As a result, we had to endure freezing temperatures at night and often wore jackets to bed. The apartment units themselves are quite old and in need of upgrades, especially the tubs and laundry appliances. Additionally, the A/C unit in our apartment made a lot of rattling noise, which could be disruptive during work-from-home meetings. Apartment Condition and Viewing Process: apartment was very dark. Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to view the actual unit before signing the lease. We were informed that all units had been leased, so we were shown a model unit near the office instead. The model unit did not accurately represent the lighting .Our unit was very dark and required lights to be turned on during the day and overall condition of the apartment we ended up with.
Have lived here over a year, and truthfully there are always little things wrong in the apartment ( water inconsistently hot/cold, chimney blocked up, venting issues with w/d hookup causing excessive steam in bathroom, etc). Even with all of those problems we still love the location and feel the recent upgrades have really made the community feel better. They have also a married couple who have become event planners within the complex and do multiple socials a month....not a singles social, but family type socials. Very diverse people live here which I love. I would have given it 5 stars but they really do have so many things that seem to present a problem and it shouldn't be an issue.
I've lived here at Brookdale on the Park for close to a year and have had an absolutely amazing experience. I remember only a year ago when I toured a dozen apartments. I found this and immediately fell in love with nearly everything about the property! The location is perfect! It's tucked away in a pleasant little neighborhood, but still a close proximity to just about everything you'll need - great restaurants, grocery stores, a huge mall, rt. 88, tons of entertainment options... I don't think there's a more perfect location around! The staff here is amazing as well. Very friendly and the maintenance are quick! Even the mailman is great! The unit I currently am staying at is a one bedroom newly renovated with a perfect view from my balcony. There's a fireplace (yes, on the 2nd story which is very nice), an indoor pool (seriously amazing during the winter), nice gym, a ton of space. I toured quite a few places and this is hands down the best I have seen. Highly recommended!!
"Upgrades" were done to our unit before moving in, but nothing was done properly. We never had cold water in any of the faucets and were told that it was simply because the hot water pipes were too close to the cold ones. The leasing companies switched midway through our stay and the new staff seemed promising, new upgrades were nice, but the units were extremely overpriced.
My girlfriend and I finally made the move to a new place with 2 bedrooms. Now we have something I've always wanted...a studio! Utilities like a washer/dryer and a dishwasher are luxurious that we have for the first time and it's amazing. This is by far the best apartment I've ever had.
We just moved in about a week ago. First the management staff is wonderful. They just took over and are doing upgrades to the place and it looks wonderful! Second, the apartments are all wonderfully rennivated, ss appliances, granite countertops, beautiful dark laminate floors, the place is stunning. They have a townhome model, which is what we rented, and we cannot be happier. We dont hear our neighbors, or their dogs, and we love our view of the little pind. It is very peaceful and tranquil. They have an indoor pool and hottub, which we used the other day and it was awesome! Cant wait to go swimming all winter ;) and finally there is so much nature around. Every morning a little raccoon scampers across the bridge, there are ducks with babies, squirrels, birds, i love it :) the fact that they are very pet friendly is awesome too :) we have two dogs and they are so welcoming to the pets, and this area has so much around for them. We are also 5 minutes away from fox valley mall and 5 minutes from downtown naperville, which we will be exploring today!! I reccomend this complex 110%
My apartment is all I've expected it would be. I signed up for Apartment.com within the next I was contacted for a viewing and the next day I applied. The amenities are fabulous as well as management. Very considerate doing renovations. This is the place to be!
