Property Ratings at Brookhaven Apartments
Brookhaven is not everything they claim to be, there are pros and cons. We personally love being there, although we would love a house. The pictures are not exactly what it is. They do not have hardwood floors everywhere like they say. Our apartment is carpeted but the carpets are very easy to get stains out of. I suggest and upstairs apartment because children are quite noisy upstairs, but that is normal for a child. The people that work there are not that friendly either, you can hear one of the workers (which lives in the apartments) scream and curse at her children. Outside is very nice and lovely and they do have a decent play area. children everywhere if you want your child to have friends to hang with. There are plenty of sidewalk for walking dogs and if you need something all the apartments are walkable to. and you can walk to the stores near you(Dollar Tree, iHop, Gabes, Electronic Express, etc.)
I absolutely cannot wait to move when our lease is up. The actual apartments are fairly decent. I like the layout, but you can feel cold air leaking in because of poor insulation. What a wonderful waste of electricity. The people above us STOMP. I don’t mean the normal sounds from having upstairs neighbors... they are purposefully loud and inconsiderate. We have complained to the office for MONTHS. They claimed to have sent him letters and called him in to talk about it. It never stopped. I was told that if it continues, to call the police. We did do... but we did it because he came downstairs to scream and cuss at me through my door. I provided the office with the police report and NOTHING was done. Apparently that is perfectly fine here. Management does NOT care about the tenants. When we told her we were not renewing our lease, she had the audacity to ask why. They don’t care and they can’t even be bothered to remember. They told us that they were going to speak to their lawyers regarding the issues with the upstairs neighbors, but I know when someone is lying to me. There aren’t enough lights in the parking lot (especially near the dumpsters) and they never enforce parking so that we don’t have to park far away from our building. I was also told that they suspected someone that had previously been evicted (and legally not allowed on the property) was staying with the people above us - likely contributing to the noise and then pot smell permeating into our apartment. Rent is much too expensive to live in a place like this. It’s so disappointing becusse I do love the property, but this is absolutely unacceptable. There are plenty of nicer places with fairly priced rent.
Quiet apartment complex. Very over priced for what is offered. Im not sure if maintenance even exist on this property bc NONE of my request have been looked into. Dealt with roaches and mold! Apartments are very old, basically falling apart... Looks nothing like the apartment they show on website.
Apartments are old and not maintained. Tubs are not properly installed. Rotting peeling caulk. Rodents. Spiders. Carpets have mildew stains and units have sewer smell at random times. Was shown another unit but after signing lease at move in I was rented a different unit. Office staff is rude, arrogant and condescending. Rent and fees are raised yearly. Moving asap. Yuck!
If you want a quiet community, this is truly a place to be. The apartments itself, well they are less than desirable when you might need repairs done. The tub has peeling paint in numerous places where it had been coated before we moved in. Damage to the walls is evident as is the carpets and kitchen flooring. (Huge Tear/Gash in linoleum) They have only 1 person to do all the repairs. Therefore, emergency repairs are truly priority. Broken/Leaking Garbage disposal was not a priority. Took 3 months to get repaired. Finally offered to buy a new one and the leak and slow drainage was fixed by removing the Disposal altogether by maintenance. When I pointed out all the flaws, the current mgr seemed to get annoyed with me and even spoke down to me. The amount of the rent is NOT worth the state this apartment is in. (Was promised one apt before I moved and told it was not available come my moving day and ended up with a different one) Recently, they added Sewer Fees to our costs of rent. We already paid a water fee (Calculated by the number of persons in your unit). My base rent is 839.00. With fees added I'm looking at 877.00 for my monthly charges.
Having lived in apartments before this place comes in about average, nothing special.Depending on the unit some are nice others not so much. The unit I lived in not so much. Dish washer leaked, none of the top outlets work, carpet was stained and a big tear in the middle of the living room and asked many times to get repaired and nothing happened. Also when I moved in my unit was infested with fleas and management did nothing about it. The laundry facilities are pretty scary and its not the best but if your lucky you will get a unit with laundry in it.
We have been at Brookhaven almost 2 years. It is a quiet community where people watch out for you. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Not having lived in an apartment in 30 years I was worried about it, but I've had a great experience at Brookhaven.
