Property Ratings at Brookmeadow Apartments
I lived here for over a year from 2021-2022 until I moved to TN. I miss it big time. Never had bugs, maintenance was prompt but hardly ever required. Overall a quiet place to live, people usually mind their own but are friendly enough. Trashes located throughout the property, easy to contact the office. I pay the same to live in TN now but do not have the same amount of storage, living space, closet space, garage, or deck, etc that I had while in at brookmeadow. I would try to move back here if I needed a rental in MI again.
Property Manager at Brookmeadow Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you so much for the fantastic review! If you ever move back to Michigan, definitely look us up.
Do not sign with this company. I was on a waiting list for 5 months for a one bedroom apartment needing to move by the end of July. It's by first come first serve of course, however I called Brookmeadow multiple times to ask where we were on the waiting list and if it's looking like I could get a unit here. They would always tell me they're not sure, but they would call if they had any updates. Eventually I had to make other living arrangements because I wasn't hearing anything back. Today, I got a call saying they have a unit for us, 2 days before our current lease expires. I understand there is no guarantee for getting a unit but after paying a $200 fee to apply and no updates in 5 months, I would've appreciated more communication. Do not waste your time and $.
At its price it is one of the cheapest apartments you can live in in the grandville area. The inside has more issues than you’ll be aware of at the start; ranging from moisture destroying the spackle walls around the windows to having heated flooring that is never cleaned so it doesn’t really work. Dishwasher leaks out the bottom, electrical wires making a kitchen light flicker, bathroom sinks backward with water patterns. To top it all off ac unit is in the living room only so that’s the only place that gets cool in the summer. If you’re hoping for a window after unit then good luck bc there’s permanent screens place in the windows and you also cannot put one in according to the lease. No grills allowed either and you can’t even hang a bird feeder of your porch. Overall go ahead and live here if you’re just looking for cheap living, but if you want quality, stay away.
Convenient location for GR and surrounding area/amenities via access to I-196. Staff have been attentive and prompt when responding to maintenance activities and requests within the building. Shared areas are maintained inside and out (hall carpet, laundry room floors, roofing was replaced while residing in the unit). Vacuuming, snow removal and external maintenance are conducted in a routine and professional manner. Residents are given reasonable notice of any potentially inconveniencing activities. Grounds are policed for disabled or nonfunctional vehicles, ensuring a good curb appeal of the facility. Reasonably priced for the area and age of the facility. Overall pleasant experience for 1.8 years residing in the facility.
Living in an older building, it has some issues. But the staff have always been prompt and kind, particularly the maintenance crew. Love the location too!
Bad management! We have had numerous issues at this apartment complex. Most recently they decided to refurbish something in our building without warning. They used harsh checmicals that filled the entire building. We have an 8 month old child who I do not want inhaling the fumes. I got home after a long day of work to find my mom had to sit outside with her to stay away from the fumes since she does not have a car. I would have appreciated a warning so I could have gotten her out if the apartment. This is just the final straw in what has been a very bad experience.
Lived here for around 6 months and have had trouble for the first 3 months. You pay a $130 cleaning fee only to move in and it smells like fresh paint, spaghetti noodle on the trim of the dinning room and paint drops dried on the tub. Found out that they painted the apartment a week prior to my move in date so got a small refund back for that. Winter rolls around and my heat only warms up to 62, I had to call three times for them to fix it finally was told it was the boiler which was supposed to be checked in the first place. Once that was fixed we then had to much heat up to 81 degrees, upon calling the office I was asked if that was actually a problem. Sometimes the water is hot others it's cannot so If two bedroom two bath goes above $850 don't do it, it's not worth the Hassel. Also parking near your building is another Hassel. Good luck.
Property Manager at Brookmeadow Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for the review, we always appreciate knowing about your experience. My name is Greg Smith and I am the Property Manager of Brookmeadow Apartments. I want to apologize for the maintenance issue in your apartment. Our maintenance team is dedicated to completing each and every work order thoroughly. Occasionally we need to rely on vendors to service our heating and hot water systems. This may cause a delay, but the issue is typically resolved in a reasonable timeframe. We ask if there is anything not working properly in your apartment home that you reach out to the leasing office at 616-457-8988. If it is an after-hours emergency such as no heat or a plumbing leak please call 616-235-0315 at any time. Thank you again for the review -Greg
The apartment complex is well maintained with clean grounds. The apartment is large, airy and well laid out. There is amble storage, and heat is included. Maintenance is excellent, problems are dealt with in a timely, efficient manner. The garage is a real plus especially in the winter. Rivertown Crossing Mall, and many smaller strip centers are less than 2 miles away.
For being my first apartment, it's everything I wanted, lots of space, nice walk through kitchen, walk in pantry and walk in closet for all my clothes, everyone is super friendly and maintenance is really good at getting things fixed, had such a great experience and definitely will refer them to any of my friends...
Its a pretty great apartment one of the better ones ive been in, good location very nice people
Grandville is a safe neighborhood and the apartments are close to restaurants and shopping, which is the best part. The apartments are clean and well maintained. I've only had problems on the bottom floor with pipes bursting and standing water in the walls that caused mold. Which they covered with paint instead of fixing the root problem. Also if you're on the bottom floor prepare yourself for lots of bugs.
BrookMeadow Apartments are a great place to live at a reasonable price. The apartment upon arrival is freshly cleaned with well working appliances which include an air conditioner, stove, microwave, dish washer, refrigerator, and community washer and dryer. The kitchen is very spacious with many cupboards and a walk in pantry. The dining area is just off the kitchen and accommodates a table for four quite well. The living room is nice with many options to arranging your furniture. My apartment is a two bed/two bath which works well for me and my three roommates. Hot water for showers seems limitless. Master bedroom has a walk in closet while the secondary bedroom just has a regular one. Rent for a two bedroom and two bath apartment is approximately $730/month with free water! As for placement, you couldn't find a better place! These apartments are in Grandville, Mi, just 20 minutes from Grand Rapids and 20 minutes from Grand Valley State University! There is a Walmart within walking distance for any of your grocery/home items needs and it's a 5 minute drive to the Rivertown Mall. Overall this is a great place to live, in a very safe and convenient location.
As stated in the title the price is fairly reasonable, especially when compared to other apartments of similar quality in the area. The location is fantastic with a very short trip(around 5-10 mins) to a large amount of stores as well as a very large mall, a 10-15 minute trip to Grand Rapids and the Holland/Zeeland area, and convenient access to the highway but not too close to be a burden with noise/traffic. The grounds are regularly maintained and the stairwells and carpets are professionally cleaned on a weekly basis. I will mention that the apartment I'm currently in is a little older of a building than some of the others under the brooke meadow properties but I've yet to have an issue with anything that wasn't fixed within 24 hours. The apartment complex is partnered with a local 24 hour gym(maximus fitness) and with an active lease offers a year membership for $25 which I personally prefer to an on site gym as this facility has everything you could ever want for a workout. The area feels pretty safe, and I've never felt worried about my car or property at all. Lastly I've only had two downsides so far since moving in. The first being that there is no washer/dryer in the unit, however each floor has coin operated machines for resident use so it's not a huge issue. The second downside is the airconditioner in the apartment is fairly old and struggles to cool the living room let alone both bedrooms, and per the lease agreement you are not allowed to place your own in any windows. Overall I would rate my experience as positive, and would definitely recommend checking them out if you're thinking about moving to the area.
I have been renting with brookmeadow for about 6 months. And so far I am very pleased. They keep their buildings looking nice on the outside. They take good care of their grounds. when I first arrived at the apartment I noticed it looked very clean and I could smell that they cleaned it well. Their is plenty of room in the apartment. The only down side I would say is that the AC is from a wall unit that is in the living room. And it is harder to get the bed room cold enough.
